  1. I'm not sure who hits for more power, but I think Rodriguez walks more and Jenkins has more hits. I expect OBP for both will be about the same, as long as its high that'll be good. It'll be nice for the lineup if they both wind up in that 30 homer territory. That'll probably 2-3 years from now. I was surprised about the hit number for Lee. 65 seems high for what he has shown so far. Still developing apparently.
  2. With 40 games left, that leaves 8 starts each for 5 pitchers. As I think there will be some days off for both Lopez and Ober coming up to get them playoff ready (I hope), that leaves roughly 5-8 starts each for the 4 guys mentioned. I also think SWR gets a couple games off. Conclusion Festa, Varland, and Mathews have multiple chances to prove who is readiest for next years rotation. Not sure how Paddock or Ryan fit in, unfortunately I am assuming IL for the rest of the year for those 2. Hopefully no one else.
  3. There are 42 more games left in the regular season and I hope more left in the playoffs. I hope most of the games have Lewis at third, Correa at short, Lee at second and Santana at 3rd. With Miranda bouncing around first, third and Dh. I doubt they resign Santana although he looks like he deserves a 2-3 year contract but I doubt the Twins offer the money. Kepler won't be back, the second half of last year looks to have been a fluke. Next year I think Lewis plays third with Lee at second, Correa at short and probably Miranda at first. Kirilloff is a question mark, though he is a very good hitter when healthy. Julian and Keaschall will be beating on the major league door. Keaschall also plays some outfield and as a right handed hitter he may get a lot of time backing up center and starting in left. Probably more towards the middle of the year. Hopefully the offseason programs consist of plenty of time spent learning to stay healthy and reporting when injured.
  4. I don't mind him batting lead off from the 8th spot in the lineup. I'm glad he is having some batting success lately. He has one of the highest salaries on this money challenge teams.
  5. Since I don't think the Twins can kick the (Dodger, Baltimore, Yankee) butt this year in the playoffs, I am very content in watching more of the future unfold. If Festa and Mathews along with SWR start the rest of the way or at least until they run out of gas, I think we could have a heck of a rotation next year that could be ready to push us into first at the start and keep us there all year. The hitters still need health and maturing.
  6. We went through a period of time where most of the top prospects were hitters and not so much pitching. That wheel seems to be turning, although it could be we just need more pitching and many of the needed hitters are at the major league level. We just need the bats to get healthy and mature at the major league level. I expect we could easily see 2-3 pitchers per year for the next 3-4 years arrive ready for the rotation, but not necessarily a place to put them. Hopefully they stay healthier than the bats.
  7. Hopefully his foot will heal over the winter or he has surgery to take care of the problem.
  8. Seems our best DSL prospects have had rough first years in the FCL. Even if Beltre stumbles in his first year in the FCL I'll watch for him in 2026 and later. It looks like he has the ability to make a name for himself.
  9. The Twins could always sign a couple more doctors, PT's and trainers to help keep their current core healthy. That would be like making a few good trades. Wouldn't cost anything but money? 🤔... Oh yeah. Everybody comes in once a week and gets a complete physical and a ouchee measure to see if they should be playing and getting a week off.
  10. I think if Headrick is moved to shorter bullpen outings he will become a very competent reliever. Sometimes the teams just needs to put players in position to succeed. rather than get injured. As far as system lefties, with Moran injured this year, the next three pitchers are at Wichita. MacCleod looks like he could possibly still be a starter, but has only pitched 1 game at 2A. Nowlin & Rozek both look like they should be moved full time into relief roles and they could be options for the Twins next year. With Rozek possibly, maybe could be, this year somewhat. Otherwise close to system ready their no one currently in double or triple A.
  11. I was sitting outside when I read this quote. I think that qualifies me. Best trade deadline proposal is fair.
  12. I wonder if Pohlad made his decision about Falvey before or after he cut payroll by 20%. I think at this point Falvey could find a much better situation for him self and take a lot of the front office staff with him. Then we can go back to the day of Ryan which many on this site would seemingly really enjoy.
  13. Starting pitching is becoming a good story for the franchise. I hope they hang unto the guys making this work. I think a few of this guys will have to wait their turn in the bullpen.
  14. With the guys already mentioned, I don't see a reason to trade for a starter for this season and certainly not going forward. At this time of year you give up more than you get and you take a job away from a pitcher. you already have. Yes anybody you plug into that 5th slot will have OJT, but so what. Long term that's what will make these guys a World Series contender. Not constantly giving up good prospects for short term rentals that might only bring a possible 3-4 more wins this year and make no difference in the playoffs.
  15. I think having 4 reliable starters with 1 spot open for pitchers to "tryout" for a regular spot is a good position to be in. Your not going to use 5 starters in any kind of playoff scenario, so having an extra starter as a bullpen arm works out well. I wouldn't trade for a 5th starter while in a position to utilize guys available in the minors who would be looking for a regular in the next year or less.
  16. Part of the problem with many seems to be that they are not cognizant of just how an injury is affecting their performance. Year after year with some like Buxton, Lewis, Kirilloff etc. Also some young players see long term players like Buxton and perhaps Correa now try to play through injuries and they think they need to also. Consequently for years we are not seeing just how good or bad someone truly could be.
  17. I'm not a fan. We may have several players crowding a position however just last weekend we had Vazquez playing third base. Position certainty is never a given.
  18. Seemingly the top of the pitching pipeline could get crowded next year. What a terrible problem to have.
  19. Good luck to both Lee and Lewis. I think Lee could take the third base position, with Lewis moving to first base full time next year. Lewis would probably be a great third baseman, but playing first may be easier on his legs and he does seem to have quite a few leg problems. Lewis may need a personal leg trainer.
  20. I like what I see in the pitching pipeline. I don't see any reason in the off season to sign free agent starting pitching. The team hasn't reached the point where it has too much pitching, if that is even possible. It's definitely worth watching these guys develop.
  21. Seems to me the title of this round was prep pitchers with the 21st pick. That said I would much prefer a pitcher that could be a high powered arm, even if bullpen only, then a utility infielder who can't hit or a slow, slugger for first base.
  22. Looks like Lee needs a position and job in the second half. I don't know where they will play him, most likely second base. It's nice to see a coming roster crunch with young players who actually have talent. Even at AAA the the roster is pretty young with old man is Tony Kemp at 33 and the next 2 oldest are 28 in Michael Helman and Chris Williams. And Michael Helman has a 924 OPS this year and won't even get a sniff.
  23. I'd like to see him hang in there and reach the 60 pitch mark. If he gets a 2-3 week opportunity, I think we get a good review of who he is and he will get a good idea of what he needs to work on. The upcoming schedule looks like Arizona tomorrow, Detroit next week, and Chicago White Sox the following week., then the all star break. Hopefully he gets enough of a test that he can settle down and throw some good innings.
  24. I'm not fond of the idea. I expect and hope more of the future bullpen to be built of former starters rather than retreads.
