  1. This game was over after one pitch from the Twins? That's just so symbolic of this season. I had to look up the definition of talismanic: relating to or of the nature of a talisman or talismans. "symbolism can be attached to talismanic objects" representing and inspiring a particular group. "they are without their talismanic captain" We can keep learning even during this bleak 2021 Twins season.
  2. With Texas nipping at their heels one game back of the Twins. Thank goodness for Baltimore. In the NL, only Pittsburgh, Colorado, and Arizona have worse winning percentages than the Twins.
  3. So great to beat the cheat (ers). What an unlikable franchise the cheating Astros are. There were well deserved boos yesterday at Target Field directed at main cheating villain Altuve and other cheaters from the Astros.
  4. I'm blowing out the bullpen Friday night and going with Berrios and Jax on Saturday. If Berrios gets knocked out early on Saturday then Jax is throwing until he hits his pitch limit. Three pitches from Rogers and zero from Robles and Colome (I can't believe I'm saying that) is unacceptable. Tomorrow will never come if they don't start stringing wins together and if it does it will be meaningless. Screw the stupid win probability chart, one run down is one swing from a tie game.
  5. The Twins are in desperation mode, or at least should be as this botched season slowly slips through their fingers. They have to beat teams like the Astros when they have a chance. Shoemaker doesn't make sense in this context as I don't think the Twins can worry about tomorrow. I was at CHS to enjoy the fireworks so didn't see the Twins game so don't have all the details and refused to watch the replay.
  6. Wasn't Robles available? He only threw 11 pitches on Thursday night.
  7. My only gripes with your plan is that Rortvedt looks nothing like an MLB catcher and I'd like to hold on to Big Mike Pineda.
  8. That baserunning blunder in KC is painful to watch.
  9. Ol' Gilber-two errors Celestino.
  10. 20,000 seems like a good number for the Twins to aim for. The upcoming Yankees series should give them a boost.
  11. It's sad that this club has been reduced to prospect watching and goofing around with new things. I thought we were going to get a legitimate competitive window that lasts, not two seasons followed by the obligatory first round sweep. Maybe 2021 is a blip on the radar and they will turn it around in the second half or 2022 or something. Just looked at the standings and they fell behind Detroit again.
  12. So, the Twins window of two seasons is now closed and we must slog through the next two and a half seasons to hope to be competitive in 2024? Man, how I hope this isn't true.
  13. I am deeply in the denial stage of this pig show of a season. The weather hasn't turned yet in Minnesota and this club is too talented to be this bad and already be out of contention. Whatever, right... Just enjoy the game and detach from the outcome.
  14. LaTroy Hawkins is so awful on air that he makes Morneau sound like a polished veteran on the mic. And, I think Morneau is borderline unlistenable. Add that to the annoying (yet admittedly competent) Dick Bremer and I yearn for the fun days of Bert Blyleven.
  15. La Russa gave him the take sign and the guy swung through it in an 11 run game. It was a bush league move clearly to simply pad stats and was selfish. Ignoring a sign from the manager seems to be a known (written) rule. Many times in life something is technically not wrong, which does not mean it wasn't a jerk move. I'm glad the Twins at least did something to show they have some fight.
  16. Tim Anderson (and presumably the White Sox in general) basically laughed at the Twins when they signed Happ. https://www.google.com/amp/s/yanksgoyard.com/2021/01/22/yankees-tim-anderson-reaction-ja-happ-signing/amp/
  17. I also noticed the two other players backing up the play weren't really in good position to back up the play since they were scrambling to get over there. There are many subtleties to the shift. Not to mention, we have a third baseman turning the double play instead of the shortstop brought in this season for defense.
  18. Is this is the first wave the white flag recap of the season?
  19. I have tickets to the Saints home opener tonight. I've been struggling with this thought since they announced the Saints are now the Twins AAA affiliate - why is watching demoted Twins players and guys not quite good enough for MLB better than just watching the Twins instead? I guess I see some of the intrigue to see a top prospect, although I fall back to why not just wait until they get promoted to the Twins. I've been a Saints fan since day one and have really enjoyed watching that franchise grow and become what it has. I am a bit skeptical that the Saints can and will keep the same fun vibe and atmosphere at CHS Field. I just really enjoyed having the Saints in a separate world from the Twins - it was a nice distraction from the Twins to follow the independent league Saints. Are we supposed to take care how the AAA Saints team performs as far as win-loss record?
  20. Yes, how do we get to the first unread post. Also, how can we tell if there are any unread comments on a post before we click.
  21. I've felt the same way (in the back of my mind I thought it) since they laid an egg in the 2019 playoffs. It's a bitter pill to swallow.
  22. How is this catcher group even at an OPS+ of 65? I would have guessed more along the lines of the 7 we have seen so far from LF. At catcher, I think they need to choose one of the two and let him play most of the games and drop the platoon. Or, look for a free agent catcher they can sign. For LF, bring in Broxton as he showed some life in spring training and maybe he could finally tap that elusive potential.
  23. I took my brother to the game today and my present to him was the ticket. He is a diehard as well, though doesn't go to as many games as me. He was not happy with the results or the effort. I felt almost bad he didn't enjoy the gift more.
  24. Rocco did the same thing in the Saturday game in the Mariners series. He pulled Cruz to pinch run Jake Cave then we were treated to Mr. Cave hitting in that spot in the bottom of the 10th. I remember because I was at the game and yelled to my wife when Rocco pulled Cruz. Arraez makes the play at second that Blankenhorn muffed and Donaldson makes the throw that Arraez sailed.
