  1. It stinks to see your club lose your favorite players. There could be more gut punches to come before the trade deadline. One of the worst feelings as a fan is to see your club as a seller at the trade deadline. I know this was the right move and might pay dividends in the future. It's really devastating to see the dreams and promise of a championship that the 2019 (and 2020) Bomba Squad brought to Twins fans slowly crumble away.
  2. The defense by the Angels right fielder, Adam Eaton, really foiled the Twins in the 8th inning.
  3. It's two competitors being competitive. It could be a big deal, probably not though. You'd have to be on the inside to really know. I don't want this incident to negatively impact Arraez. Maybe it's time to cut bait with Donaldson and move him before the trade deadline? JD's time with the Twins has not lived up to expectations.
  4. Outside food is once again allowed at Target Field (no sunflower seeds though). You can also bring up to a 32 ounce factory sealed water bottle so you should be able to feed yourself at the stadium for the same cost as at home.
  5. Old man yells at cloud! Get those dang kids off my lawn!! Anyway, I agree with Nick that this has been an oddly magical first half of the season. It's just been so great to get back into the normal summer routine of a Twins game nearly every day.
  6. Dan Serafini resurfaced years later as a bar owner on Jon Taffer's Bar Rescue reality show. Serafini wasn't a better bar owner than he was as a first round draft pick.
  7. I was watching MLB Network not too long ago. Ron Darling and John Smoltz both were saying it takes about 100 starts for a big league pitcher to really gain his footing. At the time, it made me think of Berrios and today I was thinking it applies to Ober. Ober might be something after a bit more experience.
  8. Robert Edward Grossman was a Gold Glove finalist in 2019. Apparently, his metrics were glowing that season.
  9. I don't understand trading Berrios and I don't understand why Alexander Colome is on the mound ever in a 2-1 game. Why is Colome still on the roster and when has flipping for prospects or trading away a talented player ever worked for the Twins? This frustrating season keeps rolling along.
  10. He probably deserves it, though I am not upset he didn't make it. This Twins club really only deserves one player on the All Star team.
  11. I dropped into the broadcast in the bottom of the third inning to get some air conditioning shelter from a BBQ with friends. Just in time for the Twins to take the lead and then Jax to cough it right back to the Royals. The Twins look cooked and like they're just going through the motions. It was nice to hear Kitty Kaat back, though.
  12. I do not see what Rogers can't pitch back to back days. I know he's been less effective historically on the 2nd of back to back days. Maybe Rocco wants to baby him in the name of health and rest. Still, Rogers can pitch two days in a row. If not t, he really isn't worth much. What would they do in a seven game closely fought playoff series? Rocco kicks the can down the road all the time until there is never a tomorrow. You can get away with that strategy in a year like they had in 2019. Not in 2021, the Twins should have been in win today desperation mode weeks ago and I see no urgency. Rocco punts on games where the Twins are trailing by two runs in the late innings. They need(ed) wins, not rest. Hindsight is 20/20 and I watched the Sox series in bunker under attack mode. However, since you asked innings 6 or 7 of game 3 would have been a nice time for for Rogers.
  13. Is Taylor Rogers hurt? Is the bullpen usage chart correct that Rogers hasn't pitched since last Friday? Not that it matters in the big picture, I wonder why we couldn't at least work Rogers into the Sox series.
  14. Let's play these next 14 games before the break on the field and see what happens. There is a glimmer of hope that might not be that locomotive you predict. What's the best case scenario for the 2021 Twins? They get hot, sneak into the final wild card spot, make a deep playoff run, win the World Series and top the 2019 Senators comeback season. I know the odds against this happening on Baseball Reference and Fangraphs. Fangraphs has the Twins at 0.2 percent probability to win the World Series, so let's be that 1 season out of 500.
  15. "If there are still those of you out there that believe in this club, the Twins likely need to go at least 10-4 to while getting within single digits of the division lead." ? Don't stop believin' Hold on to that feelin' Streetlights, people Don't stop, believin' Hold on Streetlights, people Don't stop believin' Hold on to that feelin' Streetlights, people ?
  16. Yeah, it kinda felt like when they didn't push that second run across in the first inning it was not a good sign for the rest of the evening. It's similar to when the Vikings have a dominant drive in the first quarter then settle for a field goal. Arraez was wildly waving for Larnach to come home. Don't you have to trust Arraez (who is right there in the middle of the action) over the third base coach in that scenario?
  17. Both options are scary and could really handcuff the entire franchise if the contract goes downhill. I'm glad I'm not making these decisions.
  18. The entire RBI or RBIs or RsBI debate is R BS I. Who is pedantic enough to care?
  19. I mean yeah, that's the attitude the Twins and their fans need to have. Why not us and why not now? I will cling to any glimmer of hope.
  20. This game was over after one pitch from the Twins? That's just so symbolic of this season. I had to look up the definition of talismanic: relating to or of the nature of a talisman or talismans. "symbolism can be attached to talismanic objects" representing and inspiring a particular group. "they are without their talismanic captain" We can keep learning even during this bleak 2021 Twins season.
  21. With Texas nipping at their heels one game back of the Twins. Thank goodness for Baltimore. In the NL, only Pittsburgh, Colorado, and Arizona have worse winning percentages than the Twins.
  22. So great to beat the cheat (ers). What an unlikable franchise the cheating Astros are. There were well deserved boos yesterday at Target Field directed at main cheating villain Altuve and other cheaters from the Astros.
  23. I'm blowing out the bullpen Friday night and going with Berrios and Jax on Saturday. If Berrios gets knocked out early on Saturday then Jax is throwing until he hits his pitch limit. Three pitches from Rogers and zero from Robles and Colome (I can't believe I'm saying that) is unacceptable. Tomorrow will never come if they don't start stringing wins together and if it does it will be meaningless. Screw the stupid win probability chart, one run down is one swing from a tie game.
  24. The Twins are in desperation mode, or at least should be as this botched season slowly slips through their fingers. They have to beat teams like the Astros when they have a chance. Shoemaker doesn't make sense in this context as I don't think the Twins can worry about tomorrow. I was at CHS to enjoy the fireworks so didn't see the Twins game so don't have all the details and refused to watch the replay.
