    I am sorry to hear about your friend. I lost one of my best friends from my youth when we were in our late 30s. It is a bummer as you can't get that time back.

    They already have a total 60 player pool, which is almost 2 1/2 regular teams. I'd imagine simulated games at CHS will be the norm. I actually just saw an ad today from the Saints that you can watch the taxi squad practice at CHS from the tables at the pop up restaurant currently operating there. The players are technically responsible for their own housing from an article I saw in the Strib a few weeks ago. I don't know what "St. Paul/Mineapolis prices" means. I suppose they could live anywhere they want to, including suburbs, exurbs, or rural areas that are a reasonable drive to the city. If a player is based at CHS then a small town in Wisconsin east of Hudson is not a difficult commute.

    Not to mention 10 games with Kansas City between August 7 and August 23.

    I am right there with you and don't understand. I assume they want to avoid 2 game series so couldn't do 5 home/5 away equally across the AL Central. I guess it "evened out" for the Twins with unbalanced against their top two (perceived) competitors the Sox and Cleveland. If the Twins had 7 on the road against both the Sox and Cleveland I'd be screaming at the top of my lungs. It should be 5/5 home/away evenly.

    I guess it's alright to have the auxiliary group based out of CHS. I'm just hoping it doesn't mean the St. Paul Saints are punting on the possibility of Saints games at CHS this season. Their public communication so far is that they will get back to playing games at CHS asap.

    This is not as exciting for viewing as the Twins now miss my favorite NL West. I was really looking forward to seeing the Dodgers at Target Field this season. Obviously, the new schedule is better for the Twins odds of being successful and making the playoffs.

    Just read the comments from casual fans over on the Strib. Lots of "I'm gonna watch town ball", "Who cares, I'm into gardening now", "I'm not gonna watch because I'm mad at the owners/players/ugly negotiations, etc.", "I'm not watching because I'm too concerned about world events and tired of rich owners and players" comments over there.

    I guess if you would have told me a few years ago that Chargois and Busenitz were going to be part of the backbone of a solid bullpen for the 2020 Minnesota Twins then I wouldn't have been too surprised or upset. It might be fun to catch a Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles game and see if we could catch one of them, or both, in action.

    The only thing I can add is Steve Bedrosian, 1991 World Series champion with our Twins. His son Cam is now a pitcher for the Angels.

    I just don't know how to feel about such a short season. I see a lot of football fans crowing that the baseball season is too long. The beauty of the baseball season is the 162 game grind (which gets cheapened every time they expand the # of teams in the playoffs). I suppose there will be a loud faction of (non-purist) casual baseball fans yelling to shorten the season in the future if a 60 game 2020 season happens with positive reviews. I am just going to take what I can get as far as games in 2020 and enjoy it.

    Oddly enough, the 2020 draft picks seem to fit nicely with the rest of the Twins minor league organization. At first blush, it seemed too many bats and not enough arms.

    Yes, a 50 game season is better than nothing. That being said, 50 games reminds me of a weekend slow pitch beer bash softball tournament. Let's just play ball, at this point I would take a single elimination tournament that could be completed in 5 days.

    In Falvine We Trust. This type of scenario was supposed to be where the geniuses would shine so I am trusting they will make lemonade out of lemons.

    It was a sneaky enjoyable season. Watching Dozier was a great experience and seeing the prospects finally start to make noise in the bigs was gratifying. 2016 provided hope for the future.

    It will be catastrophic for both owners and players if they don't have a 2020 season. I feel the long term health of the MLB is at risk.

    Fun season, it sure felt great to get away from the end of the Gardy era doldrums.

    It's been a real eye opener to me as to the value of the fans in live attendance. I'd been under the false assumption for years that MLB could operate profitably without fans in the stands. The competitive balance issue is troubling to me as well. It is baffling why they can't have some semblance of sanity on this issue of the haves and have nots financially.

    I couldn't agree more. Hopefully, this is all just posturing and they cut a reasonable deal soon. It's all about greed and baseball is dancing close to a major PR disaster. I remember 1994 and how many friends and family that were casual fans said forget MLB. If they don't play a 2019 the negative reactions will dwarf what happened in 1994.

    I didn't realize this season was the swan song for so many Twins. This was such an ugly period of sustained Twins losing. The losing of the 90s didn't seem to sting so much, maybe because the memory of 1991 was recent.
