    Realistic, not negative. I think getting rocked and swept again by the Yankees in the ALDS and the lack of impact pitching acquired has put a damper on some enthusiasm for 2020. Have you watched the last 29 years of men's major league professional sports teams in this town? I think people have a right to be guarded and cautious.

    You are slinging the positivity with some real passion, which I can appreciate and respect. I don't see how the narrative has changed much since the (overall disappointing) Gardy playoff teams. Cute club, able to show some spunk and win the AL Central, then get their doors blown off by the Yankees (or hopefully a different club) in the first round of the playoffs. Until they can prove otherwise this is what the Twins are. What's that saying about putting a dress on a farm animal?

    One nice season gets you Left Arm of the decade? This is surely a commentary on the sad shape of this franchise for the vast majority of the decade.

    I propose plan Z: the Twins physically send an intern to the closest Powerball retailer and buy 30 million actual lottery tickets. The cash out for Saturday's drawing is $134.3 MM, providing our Twins with the needed financial flexibility to trade for an impact starter.

    It's time to hibernate and put the trust out there that Falvine will properly fill out the roster. Lists such as this one are sending my 2020 positivity into a tailspin and there is no need for that in the dead of winter.

    These theoretical trades would be the proverbial 'other shoe to drop' that Twins fans are clamoring for this offseason. I, for one, am in see it to believe it mode so as to avoid massive disappointment. My question is when do the Twins stop building for the future and make a risky/aggressive/illogical/throw caution to the wind move for 2020?

    Give me a title no matter what the cost. If only it was guaranteed, unfortunately, real life doesn't work like that. Winning the Central or getting a wild card, then getting rocked in the playoffs immediately is not a satisfying season. I want another magical World Series victory ride, I don't care if they slip into oblivion for 5-10 years after that, give me the title. If they are terrible after hanging a championship banner, I don't care. I would still go to the games at Target Field and enjoy the atmosphere.

    Well, anything less than a Super Bowl championship is a failure. Thankfully the Cousins deal was only 3 years so they can start to phase him out in 2020. Although in typical Vikings fashion they have nobody set up as a replacement for Cousins. Let's hope that Cousins can dip deep over the next two months, find a gear he has never used before, and sees some playoff success. All signs point to another disappointing (and expected) wild card round loss for our Purple.

    The Schoop signing seemed to work just as Falvine must have wanted it to. Schoop came in, was dependable for a season, and the Twins found their guy for 2020 and beyond in Arraez.

    That's the same thought that's been rattling around in my brain since the end of the World Series. The Twins have the budget and the need and the motive to acquire as much (starting) pitching as possible. There's nothing wrong with an abundance of options.

    Both. I leatned long ago that successful people go for 'both' and less successful people don't. The Twins have the funds.

    Sure, it could make sense. Smeltzer is a 'gamer' and deserves a shot at an MLB job in 2020.

    Garver was a pleasant surprise. He put up video game numbers and deserved it. Cruz just cruised to the award all season long.

    The NFL is trying to monitor discretionary calls such as pass interference. You could have 10 NFL reps all watch the same disputed PI call and get a 50/50 split the majority of the time. The strike zone should (theoretically) be a target that is immovable with each batter and not open to interpretation. It's either a strike based on the agreed upon zone or it isn't. I would be happy with balls/strikes being robot enforced and do away with the other replay in MLB and just play the game.

    We will all miss the spectacle of overweight, grown men dressed in a uniform that is basically pajamas arguing with other grown men about a game that revolves around hitting a ball with a stick. The price of progress.

    That is going to be so much fun when the technology crashes or has a 'glitch' during a key moment in a playoff or World Series game. It would be the greatest of entertainment. In the meantime, baseball still needs to get robo umps installed as soon as the system is capable.

    I am an Eddie guy. I love the confidence, swagger, "heart", and not shrinking from the big moment. I even with the extend Eddie sentiment. The hustle comment I cannot agree with. Eddie dogs it in the field, at the plate, and on the basepaths.

    Arraez is a nice counterbalance to today's swing for the fences or strikeout culture. Arraez is a professional hitter who is a treat to watch. His ABs are reminiscent of a simpler time when working the count, drawing a BB, and playing strategically were valued. The way he moves/struts around the batter's box on a close take is entertaining as well.

    You guys have been teasing the guest writers angle so much that anything less than Paul the apostle, Mark Twain, and William Shakespeare will leave me disappointed.

    My spin is that if Twins fans are complaining about Eddie Rosario as the main issue among position players then the Twins are really in a position of strength. First world problems are nice after nearly ten years of almost constant struggle. Eddie does need to shore up the lazy defensive lapses and hustle all the time. He's just hitting his prime so it better be quite a haul if the Twins trade him.

    Thank goodness I'm not the only one. Everyone all the time is all about how awesome the Target Field organist is. Her playing bores me to tears. The addition of some variety would certainly help matters. I have only thought this criticism, and have been afraid to say it out loud.

    If they expand the playoffs any further to more teams then I am out. My nightmare is a 16 team playoff tournament where the regular season is basically meaningless - see the NBA and NHL. The wild card round reminds me of a slow pitch softball tournament - why are we condensing a 6 month season to a random one game elimination. Either these teams are playoff teams and deserve a 7 game series or have them stay home. Also, bump the LDS to 7 games. Why cheapen determining who is the best team with multiple travel days that rarely, if ever, happen in the regular season. I know it's all for television.
