  1. The time for analysis is over and we must lean on cliched rock anthems for inspiration. I heard this Journey song today and feel it appropriate for the three game journey awaiting our beloved Twins, "...Working hard to get my fill Everybody wants a thrill Payin' anything to roll the dice Just one more time Some will win, some will lose Some were born to sing the blues Oh, the movie never ends It goes on and on and on and on Strangers waiting Up and down the boulevard Their shadows searching in the night Streetlights, people Living just to find emotion Hiding somewhere in the night Don't stop believin..."
  2. From a logical standpoint, this 5 game series is where it should be after 2 games. The Yankees held serve at home for 2 games, as they should. Now, the Twins have to return the favor and answer with 2 victories at Target Field. Then, it's a winner take all anything goes crapshoot for game 5. That's my belief in this team right now, that they will force a game 5. The Bomba Squad has been special all season and I won't back down from the claim they have some magic left in them. I still have the delusion they can pull off the remarkable comeback against the Yankees and storm off with a head of steam against the Astros in the ALCS.
  3. The analysis is nice and interesting. It's time though for the Twins to just stand up and punch these guys in the mouth and win the darn series. As far as the history against the Yankees being irrelevant, that's great for Rocco and the Bomba Squad to believe that. However, it means something to the fans - even Dave St. Peter - to finally beat these Yankees. If the Twins can get swept, it will take some time as a fan to recover. A Yankees sweep and the Twins are entering Vikings-like territory for letdowns if this is another Gardy era Yankees beatdown of our Twins. May the best team win. There will be no moral victories here. None of the old, "The Twins really hung in there. What a great regular season. Let's get 'em next year" nonsense. The time is now.
  4. What a barbaric society we live in. You cannot watch game 1 of the LDS and you live in the same city where the team is located?!?! Is this 2019 or 1919? Listen to AM radio instead?!
  5. Truth. There could be a serious lack of sleep across the state during this LDS. My money is on none of the games being less than 4 hours.
  6. HRs: Yankees 298, Twins 297 Games played: Yankees 157, Twins 156 The Yankees are at the Rays.
  7. I'm out, I give my old jerseys to charity. Heck, my Mauer jersey is already blessing the less fortunate. Great idea, though.
  8. Gibby is a man of faith, so roll with him and hope those blessings from mission work come flowing back at the right time.
  9. This is Minnesota. There is nothing on ice until it is in the record books.
  10. "Every game until you clench is a playoff game." I don't like to be a grammar Nazi. This one hit the funny bone, though.
  11. Yes, I would be thrilled with one W this weekend and getting out of Cleveland with a 2 1/2 games lead.
  12. Sadly, I just don't know if Eddie has the maturity to pull off that type of transformation in September and October. His lack of hustle and lackluster play on defense being my first exhibit.
  13. His hair was sweet in 2018. Something seems different about the 'do in 2019. The hair is too short now, it's just off and not as awesome.
  14. Again, this teams reminds me of 2018 Twins and not the Bomba Squad. Let's find the bats in Cleveland and take at least two there. Then, get fat and beat up the AL Central bottom feeders for the final dozen games and hit the playoffs as the Bomba Squad again. Oh yeah, get healthy too. Realistically, there is a good chance Clevaland sweeps the Twins. I don't understand the Fangraphs odds to win division/make playoffs of 93.8%/98.9% for the Twins. The way this club is trending I would chop those percentages in half.
  15. This looked like a September 2018 Twins lineup, not a September 2019 team in the middle of a pennant race.
  16. Your scenario isn't completely crazy. That's why Thursday night against the Nats (if they play) is almost a must win for our Twins. If they can win Thursday, then just take 1 of 3 in Cleveland then the division lead is 3 games after the Cleveland set. They can't really miss the playoffs entirely, right? If they did, I might go into crisis mode and consider if it's worth the time and effort invested in the Twins. Even a wild card loss would bring those same thoughts.
  17. Where do you live, Afghanistan? That must be awful not to be able to talk Twins. Don't stress too much about Twins victories this week. If they win 1 of the next 2 against the Nats, then just 1 of 3 at Cleveland they will have a minimum 3 game lead after the Cleveland series. It's starting to get to the point where the small number of games left really works to the Twins' advantage.
  18. Looking forward to seeing old friend Brian Dozier this series.
  19. Maybe. There is a reason why they play the games. Another Gardy era style sweep out of the LDS is not acceptable. Moral victories should be something not considered. The Twins took the season series from the Astros.
  20. How about a deep postseason run to validate the regular season? Meaning at least participating in a long ALCS of at least six games or doing better than that. Losing in the ALDS or the wild card round would feel like failure on many levels. It just would and talking about the future to long suffering Twins/Minnesota men's professional teams is foolhardy. These recent developments are cause for concern.
  21. Stop it, Jinxie. "If Cleveland were able to sweep Los Angeles and Minnesota lost three to Washington, the division lead could be down to 2.5 games entering next weekend." Although this is not an unlikely scenario. Possibly the most likely with the mounting Twins injuries and Pineda debacle. Still, don't say it out loud.
  22. I think these lyrics by the great Metallica as somewhat appropriate here, "Good day. How do? And I send a smile to you Don't waste, waste your breath And I won't waste my hate on you Waste my hate on you" Big Mike messed up.
  23. If the Twins take one of three I will breathe easier. This shapes up as a "moral victory" type of series if they can win one and stay close in the others.
  24. Maybe when/if Duffey gets more high leverage opportunities (and produces positive results) then he will get more recognition. Your friend bashing on Duffey probably remembers a high leverage or two breakdown from Duffey and not much else.
  25. La Tortuga as a fullback and NFL folk hero on kickoff and punt return coverage teams.
