  1. Johan Santana on the Mets. Knoblauch on the Yankees. Glad that Hrbek and Puckett were only ever on the Twins.
  2. The way things are going I don't think there will be a 2020 MLB season. The CDC advice on 50+ gatherings for the next 60 days is sobering and not good news for an MLB season. The best case scenario I see is a July 1 start date, 81 game season. Pessism is not my default stance. It's difficult to see things turning around any quicker.
  3. If we are already to Kirby remembrances, this is going to be a long cold stretch of no baseball.
  4. This was awkward, yet a nice distraction from reality.
  5. Yeah, my first impression is that the Phillies guys were heads over heels for Royce. It is good confirmation from another set of eyes.
  6. Yes, analytics has missed the boat on Eddie. He still put bat to ball 32 times for a bomba in 2019. For fun, I looked at the other MLB players who hit 32 HRs in 2019: Charlie Blackmon, Manny Machado, Ketel Marte, Francisco Lindor, and Rafael Devers. It's an interesting list to say the least and I wonder if any of them get the same amount of heat that Eddie does.
  7. Who knows what things will look like when all the impacts from the coronavirus on scheduling are done?
  8. It's refreshing that the expectation coming from the team is a World Series championship. Minnesota sports fans of men's professional sports teams have been plagued long enough by moral victories, rebuilding efforts, and windows of opportunity slammed shut too soon. I watched the highlights of the Nationals World Series run and that fan base was having the times of their lives.
  9. I don't remember the old Gardy/Terry Ryan Twins Way as ever being thought of or referenced as modern or forward thinking in its time. The small ball/pitch to contact/Pirahna ways always seemed old school.
  10. We need to return to the days when a person can wear Zubaz in public without fear of public humiliation. Zubaz are the bomb. I don't wear my Twins Zubaz to Target Field as often as I should.
  11. I will be the first to say winning the World Series is the only way for 2020 to be considered a success. There are many other elements and success points that would make the season enjoyable. Although, with this lineup and the money on the table with the free agent signings, it is hoist a World Series championship banner or bust.
  12. At least the Twins have some legitimate options if things go off script with the starting staff. If memory serves, the cupboard was rather bare for rotation depth in 2018. Having Pineda and Hill waiting in the wings provides at least some peace of mind.
  13. What could the 2020 season have in store for Akil Baddoo?
  14. This is some heady stuff when you start talking about best hitting [X] ever. That is definitely something to bookmark and track for 2020. How about 90 Bombas from these two (50 from Sano and 40 from Donaldson)? Could 90 be a reality? It's still February with it being a leap year so I will allow myself to dream.
  15. I'd rather the HRs come organically and that Arraez stays true to his core nature and what we saw in 2019. The sky is the limit with Arraez, I like the comparison to Rod Carew that I heard Roy Smalley talk about last season. There is still room in today's homerun crazy game for a hitter like Arraez.
  16. Yes, the strikeouts are sickening and when they come in bunches they seem to have no end in sight. Overall, I am excited about Sano's upside at first base and think we will look back in a few years and wonder why the Twins didn't slide Sano over to first base 1-2 seasons sooner.
  17. I understand the desire to increase the popularity of baseball to ensure it stays healthy in the future. That being said, I have come to the conclusion that baseball is fine how it is (for the most part) and we need to let the game stand on its own merits. I am not against change, I just don't want to compromise the integrity of the sport and throw away everything, including strong aspects. This (and other similar studies) have been showing up the last few years so there are some signs baseball might see a revival: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/40002827
  18. I had to double check to see if this was satire or Stu angling for some laughs. The current setup is great as baseball is the only of the four major sports that can present an All-Star game that is very nearly the same as a competitive regular season game. The mini games and competitions talked about bore me. The home run derby is enough.
  19. Donaldson certainly appears to be a future coach/MLB manager. It's great that he wants to mentor the younger guys and I honestly think there is some real world value to the process.
  20. Why would the Twins want a Buxton 2.0 with much of the same downsides? I am more than happy plugging in Jake Cave fulltime if Buxton gets hurt.
  21. I don't remember this amount of confidence and swagger from a Gardy era club during spring training. I see this raising of the expectations as a positive thing for the Twins and quite refreshing in this town.
  22. It seems the majority of Twins fans on sites such as Twins Daily don't fit what I consider the typical Twins fan/resident of Twin Cities greater metropolitan area/outstate Minnesota mold.
  23. The last few years I have read these types of 'go to spring training' writeups and walk away feeling worse. It's a no duh no brainer that it's nice to be somewhere warm in February instead of Minnesota. While I appreciate the details on the ins and outs of the actual spring training activities, I can do without the preaching and humble bragging about how everyone needs to get there. Not everyone has the resources, time, or calendar flexibility to make it to Florida for spring training. Call me jealous or a hater if you want, I don't care. This post comes across as too much rubbing the noses of the poor Minnesotans in feces that can't make it to spring training. I will see you at Target Field on Opening Day, I guess.
  24. All trades are graded as incomplete until many years later. With Graterol so young, we may not really know until 10 years down the line. Although, if this trade is a brick in the Twins winning a World Series title then it's an A+ regardless if Graterol has a lights out 15 year career.
  25. Never mind. Nothing to see here.
