  1. The attendance was abysmal again last night. MLB.com says 12,181. Ouch. This has to have some Twins execs losing sleep. They have really only had one home game with truly nice weather that I can remember - a night game against the Jays. Otherwise, it's been pretty miserable at Target Field this season weather wise. Would the attendance have been worse if they were 10-17 rather than 17-10? I don't think it would have mattered. People are fatigued by the cold weather after this past winter we endured.
  2. I watched some Australian Baseball League games this past winter while working graveyard shift. It was interesting to see the passion they have for baseball. Although I was taken aback by the announcer who insisting on stating the score was 1-nil.
  3. No fan of Minnesota men's professional sports teams should ever feel sorry for any other fan base. We have suffered almost 30 years without one of our 4 major teams even making a championship series, let alone winning a title. Go Twins, Vikings, Wolves, and Wild!
  4. The Astros (and their fans) seemed surprised that the Twins took it to them. Tuesday and Wednesday should be fun and super competitive. I think the Astros now realize the Twins are legit and this will be a dog fight.
  5. The Twins are stuck with Castro through 2019. His contributions are apparently somewhat nuanced and hard to quantify. As of today, the formula is working so let's ride the train as long as we can. I would like to see more Garver. Keep rotating Tortuga around the diamond and get him his reps. There is a certain trust level that Castro's defense adds value. I won't be sad to see him leave, though.
  6. The Twin Cities is a front runner's market - always has been and seemingly always will be. Only the Vikings have achieved long running attendance success without a championship (we all know the Vikings will never win the Super Bowl). One point not really touched on is the younger generations do not want to sit in a ballpark for 3 hours and wait for the action. They have had a screen in their hands since birth with instant entertainment as whatever they want. I cannot get my son to go to a game without bribes and promises of mounds of concession food, which I will not do. The promise of spending time together and enjoying some sun is not appealing to him. When I went to the Dome when I was his age I was enthralled with the action and excitement of the experience. I wonder what attendance and the ballpark experience will be in 20-30 years. I can see a day with few to no fans at the park and everyone watching the games as background filler on a mobile device.
  7. I once called Bremer a talentless hack and Twinsdaily.com deleted the comment so I not will say it now. I guess I need to come to grips with the fact we are shackled with Mr. Bremer behind the Mic for at least another 20 years. The on the corner analysis is hilarious.
  8. It was a disappointing week against those Blue Jays. They seemed to be just a step ahead of our Twins with the breaks falling their way. That's baseball. Now off to get healthy against the Orioles.
  9. It's more likely we will see an abundance of Ks from Mr. Sano. I still cannot reconcile all those strikeouts as being acceptable or a part of the game.
  10. Right now, keep him stashed on the IL as long as possible. I'd rather see the Tortuga situation play out completely. I think you already set out the simple solution - DFA Adrianza when Sano gets back. The flexibility of Marwin and Tortuga allows the Twins to give Sano another look. I just don't want to cut ties with Sano and end up with another David Ortiz scenario.
  11. All I know is the Twins won two World Series titles in the Metrodome.
  12. Interesting note on how Baldelli basically worked the bullpen "bullpen backwards." Great insight. It was an effective strategy and was really pleasing to see it work. I think it is a good example of the Falvine influence really starting to show. This is coming from a Molitor supporter - I wonder how Molitor would have managed the pen last night and would it have made a (negative) difference?
  13. I agree on Marwin. He looks uninspired, which hopefully can be chalked up to not being 100% healthy. If he didn't have that game winner in the opener, there might be more grumbling about his slow start.
  14. Sometimes you have to live to fight another day. How Buxton can balance that with going all out on every play and still staying healthy and on the field to help his team will come with experience (hopefully).
  15. Some bad luck for Gibby. He looked great and will be just fine this season. This Tortuga experience is getting interesting. Rocco needs to play him regularly to see if the magic is real. At least ride the hot hand for awhile.
  16. Didn't the Twins have a plethora of walk off losses in 2018? Let's eliminate those and see how far they can go.
  17. Play La Tortuga every day, whether it be catcher, third base, outfield, or someplace else. He needs to be a lineup regular. The catcher "conundrum" is really depth that winning teams naturally have. It is nothing but good and Rocco just has to make sure the guys get their ABs. There are enough to go around.
  18. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry. Being from Apple Valley and wanting a nice above ground pool, this one really hit hard.
  19. It sure would be nice for our Twins to put the Cleveland baseballers in their place and knock them down a peg in 2019. I suppose sustained excellence will naturally cause jealousy from the also rans. Although there has been an aroma of arrogance coming from Clevaland's fans this winter. The whole '2018 was boring because we had no competition' vibe is annoying.
  20. It will be fun to watch Brian Dozier come back to town. I am also hoping that Tim Tebow is in the majors when the Mets play at Target Field.
  21. Ask the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. They came up with Gemütlichkeit, so they might be able to help.
  22. It is great that Larnach is so green that he hits a tater in his first AB... then picks up his own bat and hands it to the batboy. There is a certain charm to it.
