  1. Not at all. But it certainly doesn't make you untouchable. And it also isn't a lot from a batting champion. Find me a batting champ with a lower OPS. GO....
  2. Or a guy with knees living on borrowed time.
  3. Most entertaining hitter to wear a Twins uniform since Killebrew. Perfect candidate for future "We didn't need him" features.
  4. Wait. You mean a guy can win a batting title and then drop to .244......
  5. Nothing screams exciting baseball like winning a batting title with sub .800 OPS.....
  6. Not like we're replacing Babe Ruth or Henry Aaron. Replacing a batting champion who couldn't put up an .800 OPS en route to said title.
  7. His best seasons came when he pitched more innings. His only real injury concern was in 2021 after not pitching at all in 2020. The only season he had an ERA of 5.00 was a season in which he pitched 16 innings. In the end it matters not what you think or what I think. But at the end of the day if we don't take a chance we'll always be left with doubt.
  8. "The Twins used him as a starter throughout his professional career", to me is the key point in any Duran discussion. What if the lock down ace # 1 we so desire is right under our noses? It's not like he had disappointing results as a starter in the minors. Hell, those numbers were good enough for us to want to get him into the big leagues in any role. I always felt like we left a little something on the table a while back when we never found a way to get Trevor May back into the rotation and I think we'd be doing the same here. Speaking of May, he currently projects to be the highest paid pitcher for the A's this season at about $6 Million. When the selloff begins and we're once again looking for bullpen help, that's a call we should be making.
  9. Another infielder trying to play outfield? NO
  10. Even I'm not feeling any pain at this time of the season........
  11. Never forget that advanced analytics is an excellent method of predicting the past. Now you kids get the hell off my lawn.
  12. Been a Twins fan for 50 years. A decade of the Calvin years and four decades of the Pohland years. Can't for the life of me fathom Twins fans whining about those "cheap bastards" OVER paying a guy with the pop to hit 30 home runs in a season.
  13. Robo umps will be the best thing that has ever happened to the game. Robo players not far behind.
  14. Been watching this team for 50 years. Most entertaining player since a guy that used to wear # 3.
  15. Don't you talk about Alex Kiriloff like that. Or Trevor Larnach.
  16. You mean you don't think robo umps will be 100% accurate? Yes I'm being sarcastic.
  17. I don't have an issue with signing Gallo but just don't see him as an upgrade over Kepler or even vintage Sano for that matter. Think many are reading way too much into Sano's dismal performance in an extremely small sample size last year and the somebody will sign him and end up with a hell of a bargain. Maybe not David Ortiz like but maybe Ortiz lite.
  18. Why, yes. I'm 100% certain that instead getting 93% of all calls right, robo umps will get 100%. Yeah, right.
  19. We scored less than 700 runs last season and are contemplating moving bats. I going to go with dearth.
  20. Joey Gallo: .199 BA. CAREER. Even Sano's got a .234 career BA.
  21. By the end of the year it's quite likely that they indeed do NEED 2 guys like that. Especially with the propensity of other to not stay on the field. I won't even mention how happy Yankee fans were to see Gallo leave town in the midst of a playoff run, OR his .199 career batting average.
