  1. Please be the rookies rather than Wallner.
  2. Damn few of whom can hit left handed pitching.
  3. "What if he's simply an extremely valuable platoon bat who thrives against left-handed pitching but struggles to provide the same production against righties?" So the question is: "What if he is something the team has been desperately seeking for years? I'm in.
  4. Trading Ryan would be a fine idea. IF they were assured that of a return along the lines of what they received when they traded Nelson Cruz. Problem is that, as often as not those deals don't work the way you hope. The best case scenario is that at some point in the next year or two they find themselves in contention. At that point they will find themselves in need of a Joe Ryan. Why not keep him and make him the centerpiece of a return to prominence. This team is never going to be a team that makes the fans happy by spending like drunken sailors to bring in outside free agents. Never has. Never will. But they HAVE been a team that has spent to keep their own guys. Puckett's two contracts broke the market. Joe Mauer. Johan Santana's last contract here was solid. Buxton. The best case scenario is that trading Ryan leaves a Ryan size need on the squad. Seem like an easy answer.
  5. Guys who CAN find the strike zone constantly tend to not be available.
  6. Get the young man a first baseman's mitt.
  7. I know the advanced metrics guys will tell you that RBI is a terrible stat because it's merely a function of opportunity. But some guys take advantage of that opportunity and bat 5th in Minneapolis and some guys struggle with it and bat 3rd-in Louisville, wearing StP on their hat.
  8. I forget, was that last week or last month. A path for Royce Lewis.
  9. I'd be perfectly happy to see the remainder of this season look like 1982: Hrbek, Gaetti, Brunansky, Randy Bush, Timmy Laudner. Rookies one and all. Contributors to multiple parades as well.
  10. They need to get the best of the kids up here asap. Get them meaningful playing time THIS year. We do NOT want to see Walker Jenkins getting his first meaningful playing time in 2028 at the age of 23, or Kaelen Culpepper at 25, or Gabriel Gonzalez at 24 or Emmanuel Rodriguez at 25 or Kyler Fedko at 28 or Hendry Mendez at 24 or even Aaron Sabato at 28. I want to see every one of those guys at the big league level THIS year. If that entails a purge that makes last year's deadline look like a high school dance then so be it.
  11. I will also agree, again. RBIs ARE something of a stat of opportunity. And the difference between having the most plate appearances for a big league club and getting said plate appearances in places like Worcester & St. Paul is taking advantage of those opportunities.
  12. I won't disagree. But I will point out that Bell is an experienced professional hitter. I remember, three years ago, almost to the day, having similar thoughts about Donovan Solano who was sitting on FIVE RBI. From that point forward, we don't win that division title without his contributions. And Bell has THIRTY RBI which leads the team so he must be doing something right.
  13. Lucky # 7. Pencil him into the 7 spot in the batting order in LF and leave him there. If Jenkins and Rodriguez can't get here let's at least see what this kid can do. There may well not be a season next year. I don't want to be sitting here in March of 2028 not having seen these guys at the big league level.
  14. Give Lewis a first baseman's mitt at St. Paul and when he comes back up the IF goes Lewis, Keaschall, Lee, Culpepper. Laminate the card. At least until Mendez forces his way into the discussion.
  15. Longtime big league pitcher. I suspect he's been a right hander forever
  16. I'm not a math genius but I feel like you may have you Pennies on the dollar / quarter / nickel metaphor bass ackward. Pennies on the dollar means your getting pennies for something worth a dollar. Pennies on the nickel means your getting pennies for something worth a nickel. Maybe I'm wrong....
  17. "To clear a roster spot, the Twins designated veteran reliever Luis Garcia for assignment, marking another abrupt stop in what has become a turbulent 2026 season for the longtime right-hander." Isn't he just a right-hander? Longtime would seem to indicate that at some point he may have been something else.... Am I missing something?
  18. If you're unhappy now just wait until those opportunities start going to the guys they (and we) REALLY want to see getting them. Jenkins, Gonzalez, Culpepper, Rodriguez (yeah, yeah, I know, I know) and probably even Mendez and maybe even Sabato need to get looks before the leaves start to fall and, sad as it may make you Fedko slots in closer to the bottom of that list than to the top.
  19. Weird how management brings in guys, fans/writers whine about them and then realize maybe they knew what they were doing.
