    I'm excited that our 2024 # 1 pick got here two years out of college and our 2023 # 1 got here three years out of high school. Beats the hell out of 2019 and 2020 (ok, not yet) never getting here and 2018 having a "breakout year in year 6 in which he's unlikely to reach 15 home runs or 60 RBI, or 2016 retiring after less than 900 plate apperances, 2013-2015 being Kohl Stewart, Nick Gordon and Tyler Jay, Sorry, can't look any further. Too depressing.

    I'll say that both 2023 & 2024 were better than anything SWR did here and hell, two months of 2021 were better than anything Austin Martin has done.

    Again, you can't ASSUME that what he did there is what he would have done here.

    He has 28 PAs in the month of August. Every single one of them resulting in Walker Jenkins staying in St. Paul. Alex Jackson has 1.

    Too bad for Walker that the big league bats are clicking on all cylinders and it's looking like he might be pulling a Social Security check before he pulls a big league check. Too bad for him that Alex Jackson & Alan Roden must have compromising pictures of somebody in the Twins brain trust.

    Canterino's been starting rehab every year for about a half a decade hasn't he? It seems we HAVE been drafting SS & catchers pretty high.

    The biggest impact of trading Berrios was that a year hence they found themselves in need of a Jose Berrios type of pitcher. Which lead to the Mahle trade. Need I say more?

    We might need some reading comprehension here. First of all I said nothing about home grown pitching that needs to come up. I distinctly said HITTING. And I never said JUST traded. The best home grown pitching we've developed in a generation was Jose Berrios.

    His WAR since he left is 7.0 The two guys they got are a combined 4.1 and Martin was negative coming into this year and is a mere .9 in this his "breakout" year.

    And we traded away the best starting pitcher we've developed in a generation for minimal return. AND it feels like we need an act of congress, a court order and a note from God to bring up some of our home grown hitting talent.

    I'm fine with such a move as long as Jenkins becomes the CF. If it entails, Keashall, Clemens, Martin, Kreidler in CF, I'm out.

    If he finishes his career here it probably happens. If not, it becomes less likely.

    Some guys mess up more than others. And I don't know that "other guys are worse" is going to be a winning plan going forward.

    Shelton can play Keashall all he wants. Anywhere he wants. That ain't gonna make him NOT be a liability every time he puts a piece of leather on his hand and steps between the white lines.

    Baseball's a funny game. When you take at bats from a fella you also usually take his glove off the field. Let's play the whole game. Keashall can't play D. Let's stop pretending we can find a spot on the field where we can hide that fact.

    That's great that his OPS against LHP is so good. But over half his PAs have been against RHPs. His OPS is not quite so good against them. Not to mention take a look at his numbers the last two months vs the first two months of the season. If this team has shown anything this year it's that, as currently constituted, it's a .500 ball club. That's not good enough. Continuing to do what we've done that has made them a .500 team is going to make them a .500 team. It's time.

    Which leaves swapping Roden for Jenkins as an extremely attractive option.

    Harkening back to the good old TK / Gardy days when defense seemed to matter to this organization. Now we only seem concerned with versatility.
