  1. lot of hubub about an inch
  2. Pine for optimism here and you'll get told to go to twins.com
  3. Damn you sir. Such positivity. Have you forgotten who butters your bread?
  4. I don't work for FanGraphs. I just quote what the author of this article wrote. Who and what you choose to believe is up to you. Since nobody actually KNOWS does it really matter? That's why they spend the next half dozen months playing games.
  5. I don't think Lewis' hitting will impact that many other positions.
  6. Typical TD take on things: Since our bullpen is rated 20th we could "easily be bottom 5." No mention that we could just as easily be top 15. Just the usual The Sky is Falling The Sky is Falling The Sky is falling.
  7. I don't see what the big deal with having to make a roster move is. Kreidler comes off the 40 man and Arcia is added. Done. There should be no concern about losing Kreidler by doing that. There's got to be dozens of guys available who can hit .138
  8. Unless it does. Guess that's why they will play the baseball games
  9. But it seems like the ones who throw from the port side can seem to find work well in to their 40s.
  10. Which means that if we trade him, we will have a short supply of marginal catchers. The Twins way.
  11. Would be surprised / disappointed / shocked if at least half a dozen (and Jenkins) of this group don't get meaningful looks this year. Payoff for the blood letting of last year.
  12. Wait. The sky is NOT falling? Woe is me that the sky is NOT falling.
  13. Less concerned about one guy not winning a spot than happy about another guy coming thru. Of course a lot could happen in the week and a half between the start of the season and the first time the Twins actually need a fifth starter. Not to mention they could use the dreaded Opener one of those days.
  14. All this debate and consternation about shortstop and nary a mention of Tanner Schobel OR the Big Q.
  15. He just has to get here and stay healthy. Seemingly no small tasks for young fellas coming up thru our system. All the best kid.
  16. Current prospect list almost always looks better than the one from four years prior. Mostly because try as you might you can't put the folks who miss out of your mind and pretend they still have a shot.
  17. "For now, the Twins' farm system exists somewhere between potential and proof. The next wave of prospects will determine which side of those rankings ultimately proves correct." Pretty much the same as every farm system ever for every team. As far as the one that ranked them in the bottom third, I suppose 21st is technically in the bottom third but when five others have us at least 9 spots higher I have trouble being concerned with the first spot in the bottom third.
  18. Not really shocked by the "fallacy of the 'top prospect' or 'ranked prospect' status thing. Maybe because I've been watching baseball for over 50 years and could write an article longer than this one just naming names of such guys I've seen (or who never actually got to the point where most fans ever even got to SEE them) reaching such status over the years. Tyler Jay, BJ Garbe & Adam Johnson jump off the page but it's a big page and these would merely be a start.
  19. What's the ultimate goal? You are right, I may not know something they don't. I'll look into it and get back to you when I get done counting their rings.
  20. Not like extending Lopez and / or Ryan would be dollars poorly spent. I keep hearing that the plan has to be to develop from within and spend on free agency to supplement when the window is deemed to be truly opened. Nice theory but flawed. 1: No one truly knows WHEN the window is / will open. 2: Keeping your own guys is likely more affordable than bringing in outside guys when the time "right." Forget not when we traded away the best starting pitcher we've developed in a generation and then spent a number of years blundering our need to find and identical replacement to allow us to compete.
  21. IF the team is willing to spend money why in the hell would any fan question how they can afford it? Swear to God the only thing this fan base hates more than the team not spending money is the team spending money.
  22. Almost forgot that the only thing this fan base hates more than ownership not spending money is ownership spending money.
