  1. Many teams get their coaches hired by other teams. Every coach is looking for better opportunities, perceived or real.
  2. When was the last time we traded a front line starting pitcher that we can look back and say the we won the deal? I'll wait.
  3. C'mon man. Don't have an opinion? Do what every one else does. Just say the sky is falling and there is and never will be any hope.
  4. That statement could be made and be true by inserting any two names. In other news grass is green.
  5. Has anyone actually HEARD any member of the ownership group say that they will NOT spend money?
  6. So the same as every other guy ever traded in the history of sports.
  7. A coach went from one team to another? Oh the humanity. Make it stop.
  8. ELDRIDGE. If not, NO DEAL Howie. Not sure why we would want TWO SS that won't be ready for at least 3 years. Eldridge and one of the SS and maybe a lefty like Jacob Bresnahan. OR come to our senses and DON'T trade our best pitcher.
  9. So the guys who have done well have done so because they are gifted players and those who have not have been because of Shelton's shortcomings?
  10. can't spend money you don't have. We don't have Dodger money and never will under the current MLB economic system.
  11. If we're counting three of the bottom 9 made the playoffs.
  12. And four of those five will go home with as many trophies as the Twins. It's easy to spend someone else's money.
  13. Good teams have many players deemed not good enough to play for other good teams.
  14. Three of the eight highest payrolls didn't even make the playoffs. Four of the other five won't win the World Series.
  15. O - P - P - O - R - T - U - N - I - T - Y Will always make folks want to come. I heard all the rubes on this site talk about the fact that nobody would be interested in the manager job. And yet guys were. Same will be true for players.
  16. Contrary to what this site thinks the task facing management is NOT to endeavor to convince a beleaguered fanbase that the team intends to compete in 2026. The task is to actually compete. They are under no obligation to do so in a manner that suits your liking including who manages the team.
  17. So you're telling me that AFTER they blew up their bullpen there were still 10 teams worse than them? As I've maintained, a bullpen should be the easiest part of a team to rebuild. Many teams rebuild at least half their bullpen every off-season. The sky might NOT be falling.
  18. Good for you. But then nobody would point out the hypocrisy,
  19. Don't get me wrong. I'd love a firebrand like Billy. When's the last time you saw one managing a big league ball club? Bruce Bochy & Terry Francona and MAYBE Dusty Baker are the closest we've seen in the last couple decades. I suppose you could put TK and Gardy near that level but not really. Sadly those guys have gone the way of the 9 inning complete game pitcher and the 40 games started pitcher. The game is not better for it.
  20. Interesting that finally, after months, a team that fired a manager, hired a manager, has made dozens of player transactions AFTER trading almost a dozen players, has witnessed the debut of two highly regarded starting pitching prospects, has seen both have both good and poor results, has seen the debut of multiple other newly acquired prospects at various minor league levels finally has some notes--YESTERDAY. Ancient history updated. Guess maybe after all the articles about "The Twins Way" maybe someone just needed to point out similar issues in "The TD Way." Happy to help. Totally understand the hubris bit. Try to do my part to contribute to it when I can.
