  1. We hope it has. But until these guys PROVE to be more than the Kiriloffs, Larnachs & Covacos of the worlds You're just speculating on that.. I hope you are right. Hope is not a good strategy.
  2. You just presented both sides of the coin. Cavaco out of HS and Sabato out of college. You really didn't make any sort of argument.
  3. All i care about with this kid is seeing him get half a season in the big leagues in 2026 so in case there is a work stoppage and no season in 2027 we're not still sitting here at the start of 2028 (which MIGHT not be until mid summer) and wondering what we've got with the kid 5 years post draft.
  4. I am always amused by the "after the 2023 season was the time to go all in by spending big money" fable. Was this team poised for more at that point? Absolutely. Where would you have spent that money? Take a look at the team as constructed at that point. Would you have replaced Correa? With more of the same? Not really. Kepler coming off .816 OPS? Probably not. You don't make the playoffs in 2023 without Solano and you have Kirilloff waiting in wings. Julien coming off .839 OPS and 7th place in the ROY voting? I suppose you could have replaced Buxton. But I'd hope you'd be smarter than that. Gallo in LF is obvious but you have Larnach waiting in the wings. Royce at 3B? Are you TRYING to get fired? Not willing to move forward with Jeffers? OK. Your 4th best starter on that team is now a top 10 in MLB guy. I suppose you COULD have gotten in on the Ohtani sweepstakes. Got news for ya boys and girls. He wasn't coming here for a BILLION dollars. Matt Chapman? I suppose you could have pulled the plug on Lewis. I suppose you could have re-signed Gray. Has he REALLY been better than any of your big three since he left? If you go by straight WAR SWR has been better since he left. I'll wait.
  5. WE might welcome a Twins, Cubs, White Sox, Brewers division but I am certain MLB would have other ideas. The only way this would fly would be if the Cubs were to be on board. And I doubt they would. Would not be the least bit surprised if the Cubs preferred keep their rivalry with the Cardinals rather than with the White Sox and certainly ahead of the Twins. It's fun to think about but not gonna happen.
  6. So you are a fan. Which means, that at the end of the day, if the team doesn't win the World Series, (and in some places, even if they do) you, as a fan are far more capable of doing their jobs than the manager, the front office, the scouts and the ownership. I get it. But it's not just you, it's most fans.
  7. That makes me want to see Jenkins for half a season at the big league level. Just remembering how 2020 screwed up some young fellas. Don't want to be sitting in 2028 (and maybe with the season not even starting on time) with Jenkins 5 years post draft and not having made his big league debut.
  8. I agree with your premise but also remember that relief pitching is fickle. We MAY win on those trades merely by virtue of those guys no longer being what we thought they were a few years down the road.
  9. I hope this is your 2026 projection cuz if it's beyond and Jenkins isn't prominent in it there will be lots of angst. Also, and maybe this is just a minor point, but I'm not sure we want to refer to the young man as Emmy. Maybe Emma (not sure about that one either) or maybe E-Rod but I'm just not sure Emmy works. Kind of like me telling my 8 year old granddaughter that, yes, she can come with me to my fantasy football draft but, NO, she can't bring Veggie Straws. Just doesn't work.
  10. Everybody acts like the team was going to be sold. NOBODY EVER said that they were going to sell. They said they were going to explore selling the team. I told anyone who would listen at that time that what was said meant nothing. None of you believed me. Here we are. To sell something you need both a seller and a buyer who can agree on a price. We don't have that. Get over it.
  11. Falvey built this team exactly the way fans clamored for this team to be built before Falvey was hired. No more of the Gardy & Terry Ryan's gut instinct stuff. Build a strong analytics department and listen to them. YOU wanted it and you got it. Fans should be pissed ownership for ONE thing: Listening to the fans. Twins fans are the most fickle group of humans on the planet. The only thing they hate more than the team not spending money is the team spending money. Ownership needs to spend like drunken sailors. Why did they pay that guy?
  12. Ya'll had your chance. Any one or any group of you had your chance to pony up and by the team. You didn't.
  13. Not to mention Gonzalez, DeBarge, Winkour, Gallagher, Amick, Diaw & Olivares who should be ready no later than 2027. Of course, there won't BE a 2027 so that kinda sucks.
  14. The announcement last fall said nothing of selling the team. I said the would "explore" selling the team. Only a fool would not realize the difference.
  15. I will agree with a lot, if not most, of what you just posted. Except the part about trading for an established closer. Quick, when was the last time we successfully traded for an established closer?
  16. no logical answer exists you don't get better when your best players are playing for other teams
  17. My point was that I was replying to a post insinuating that the Twins couldn't "compete" because they didn't get enough innings from their starters. We actually get more than the Dodgers who won the title last year and the same as the Brewers who currently have the best record. I agree that there are fewer 6 inning starts than there used to be. Twins average just a tick over 5. Yes, the game has changed in that respect. I don't really care for it but I'm one of those guys who is always hollering at the damn kids on my lawn. The nice thing is that the Twins have shown a propensity for being able to build a good bullpen over the last handful of years. Did we subtract some parts? Sure. Can we build it back? Again, absolutely. Would it be nice to still have Duran, Jax & Varland? Sure. But a quote I like to use in these situations is that every team that has ever won a World Series has done so without any of those guys so there is no reason why the Twins can't as well. We've got a nice group of potential starters. The more of those you have the better the chance that some, or at least one, of them develop into something special, like a Joe Ryan. With Correa's contract gone, the better the chance of keeping someone like Ryan. Duran was NEVER going to stay here once he had the opportunity to leave. A couple more years of him would have been nice but 5-10 years of the two guys we got for him might be alright too. I will go out on a limb and say that in a few years we will look back at Trade Deadline 2025 as a turning point for a team in serious contention. Will we win a World Series? Maybe, maybe not. But only one team does each year. The rest better be entertaining and I think we will be that. Sorry, I got off topic but once I started typing the thoughts and words just kind of started and didn't stop. I am fortunate enough to have seen two Twins championships and I'll die a Twins fan even if I don't see another. Go Twins. We’re gonna win Twins, we’re gonna score! We’re gonna win Twins, watch that baseball soar! Knock out a homerun, shout a hip-hooray! Cheer for the Minnesota Twins today! We’re gonna win Twins, give it our all! We’ve got the guys who’ll knock the cover off the ball! Let’s hear it now for the team that came to play! Cheer for the Minnesota Twins today!
  18. And yet, the team with the fewest innings this season from their starting pitchers is the Los Angeles Dodgers, who always seem like contenders to me.
  19. So much optimism about what new ownership would do. Wanna know what new ownership will do? Be hamstrung by the realities of MLB finances same as the old ownership. Good luck.
