  1. It's a fair answer but could also be nothing but pure and utter ********.
  2. Trading either of these guys is paramount to saying we're not going to be competitive until 2028. Why the hell would you do that?
  3. Did a little research. In this century, no team has sold and won a championship in less than eight years. MOST have not been nearly that successful.
  4. So you are saying we CAN make a trade without having to move Ryan or Duran or Jax or Buxton? I'm down with that.
  5. If there's one thing we won't need next year it's a high leverage lefty in the bullpen.
  6. Totally agree. The object should be to have guys have their peak IN a Twins uniform. You don't get better when your best players play for other teams. The one exception to that might be Bauer. But he doesn't have too much good in him.
  7. But that one win by Jaime Garcia is one more than he got in 8 starts for the Yankees after the trade. For all the good the Clevinger trade did for Cleveland they still sit behind the Twins in the standings. I have enjoyed their World Series parades since the trade though.
  8. To my point: Since as I have been educated, 2019 was that last time the Twins were 23 games over .500 and the author made a point to talk about both the Twins need to emulate Cleveland's deadline strategies AND the fact that it's not unheard of for Cleveland to be 23 games over and NOT bet the farm, my point is that if the Twins followed that strategy Twins fans would not be happy. I was not overwhelmed by trading for Sam Dyson & Sergio Romo in 2019. YOUR mileage may also differ.
  9. You can take the 23 games over out and change it to "in contention" if it makes you feel better.
  10. Interesting that one of your examples is Cleveland being 23 games over .500 and in a position to bet the farm and not doing so. Isn't that EXACTLY what Twins rubes hate?
  11. What if there were a 1B in the system with a better pedigree and might just have "found himself at a few years younger.......
  12. If he's 27 and produces for the next five years is it different than if he's 24 and produces for the next 5 years?
  13. Here's what else we know: The guys we got in the deal have spent FAR more time on the east side of the river than the west side. SWR has had a nice run for the last month. Which is encouraging. But that's one month. Out of four years. Where did trading away the first SP we had developed in a generation leave us? Looking for a pitcher of Berrios' caliber. It precipitated, either directly or indirectly the need to make trade for Tyler Mahle, which precipitated the the need to trade away a now three time batting champion. The number of the extension he signed in Toronto should have been palatable to us. Did we offer it? And, oh, just so we don't forget, Berrios is fighting for a pennant. We're fighting to not be sellers.
  14. You don't know that he wouldn't have signed here.
  15. Trade Ryan and / or Duran and you'll find yourself looking for a Ryan and / or Duran. What's the point.
