  1. And you'd likely do no better than the current folks
  2. and since the likes of you insist that nobody would take the job sounds like a good hire
  3. Not really whining about TD. Just pointing out how they, in their field, are really not that much different than Twins management and FO.
  4. I can see leaving it on there for a month. Maybe. But two? I questioned competence every time I saw it there. Just thought it was ironic.
  5. Just an observation. If you can't see the connection I can't make you see it.
  6. Gotta love a website that loves to be somewhat critical of the Twins ownership and front office AND had a headline on its homepage for almost two months AFTER team was no longer attempting to sell declaring the sale of the team to be imminent.
  7. Turns out YOUR likes and dislikes don't factor in.
  8. Is he the right choice? Maybe. Maybe not. Do ANY of us on this site know? Absolutely not. Wasn't my first choice but he was THE choice.
  9. I've heard of him. He's dead. As for the argument you're trying to make--probably why he got fired nine times.
  10. MOST championships are won by teams that have a season where a lot of things break their way. However, only one team gets the trophy each yar.
  11. So cute how so many folks think that this is going to eliminate any controversy involving balls and strikes. It might. But not nearly as much of it as folks think. Even with replay we still have dozens if not hundreds of plays over the course of a season that one person sees one way and another person sees another way. This isn't going to change that. I suppose we COULD look at the Virtual Measurement system the NFL has implemented this season with quite a bit of success. Of course the reason for that success is that they just don't SHOW us the close plays. We never know the difference. Just hear that the system has decided. So there we go. We'll just take the games off the television. All games will only be on radio and we'll never see any bad calls.
  12. Great players tend to NOT be great coaches and / or managers. They worked hard to be great but never really had to scrape for it. Sure there are exceptions but not that many. Wouldn't every team in baseball want Greg Maddux as their pitching coach? Great pitcher. His brother has been a pitching coach at various minor and major league stops for decades. But his brother had to be a scrapper to eek out a big league pitching career.
  13. Nothing screams Trade Deadline Deal quite like signing a guy who "performed at a league-average rate over two seasons in Milwaukee"
  14. Is there somebody out there who will go out of his way to NOT put together a really good coaching staff?
  15. Hitting coaches and pitching coaches tend to be good at one thing, coaching hitters and / or coaching pitchers. I'll be fine if Rowson is the choice but he's not my first choice.
  16. anyone who gets the job and gets paid by the team will be whatever Falvey wants them to be. Kind of how stuff works.
  17. As I mentioned above any offer needs to be for a king's ransom. The team making the offer had better be bringing their # 1 prospect (top 10 MLB) their 2nd or 3rd prospect (MLB top 25) and another top 6 prospect (MLB top 100) Most of the teams that would be in the market don't have guys who fit into those criteria. At the end of the day, I'm out.
