    Santana and France didn't SUDDENLY become Gold Glove defenders. But they DID become Gold Glove winners. And as far as improving metrics by standing in a different place, if that also means improved performance / productivity, seems like that would be a wise thing to do.

    I agree that the Twins plans are not discernable. Not that they have any obligation for them to be so. Fans seem convinced that for some reason they have a right to know such things. They don't. But we live in an age when they think they do. Neither here nor there I guess. I'm fine with acquiring a big name guy. I would have been fine with keeping Correa. Bichette would work for me. I've been advocating for Alonzo in these spaces since last Winter. But for the most part, guys on big long term contracts seldom earn that money over the last half of the contract. If you spend that money on retaining your own players, that is kind of offset somewhat by the fact that prior to free agency said player often far outperforms his contract. I'm not all that concerned about what happened at the deadline either. I understand why they dumped Correa. Would have been nice to have kept Duran and maybe Varland but in all honesty, the return for those two should become mainstays before the end of the decade (not that far away). Jax had to go or would have become a cancer. Everyone else that went would, in an ideal world (possible exception of Bader) would have been gone by March anyway. The future is NOT nearly as bleak as most think. Play Ball.

    Twins fans can claim that they'd prefer we spend it all on one player but even when they do that fans aren't happy. Fans LOVED when we loaded up on Carlos Correa, Josh Donaldson and even Joe Mauer. Didn't like it near as much when they learned what even the big spenders learn: That when you sign a guy to a big money long term contract the results as that contract goes on generally tend to NOT be worth the investment.

    I also think the bullpen is the easiest area of a team to rebuild. Teams do it every year. Even successful teams tend to turnover half their bullpen every year. Not all successful teams, but more than fans might suspect. 90% of that effort is half luck. Make the right bullpen moves, you win. Make the wrong ones, you have a fire sale.

    I never get too concerned about "recent news" about anyone. One thing the internet age has brought is lots of folks who need clicks.

    Kind got goosebumps when you said you didn't see a future for our two corner OF boat anchors but then I realized that just meant nobody else would be willing to give anything for them. Saw the name Jansen and kind of got excited about a catcher with a WAR over twice that of Jeffers the realized it was Kenley.

    Hindsight is 20 /20. Trust me, I'm a Vikings fan. I've spent most of the last month listening to fans gripe about moves that they cheered about when they happened.

    Botom line is Correa is a push that the had to do for financial reasons. Varland deal is a push. Jax was about to become a cancer so moving him before that happened is a plus. Duran was the one guy it really would have been nice to have kept but every time I pull up MILB.com's Twins prospect listing the guy we got in return sits squarely in top 3. The rest of the dudes we moved were putrid sludge and bringing them back in 2026 would only have lead to more of the same as 2025. So all in all, WIN.

    And, sadly, MLB doesn't have the one thing the NFL always has when they boat race their players in CBA negotiations. "Hey, give us what we want and we'll let you smoke more weed." Or do they?

    Weird. Seems like ALL of their OF are either left-handed hitting or right-handed hitting. ZERO points for creativity.

    Drives me crazy. Folks like you saying that if either Ryan or Lopez is traded they are throwing in the towel. On the other hand surrounded by rubes insisting that they MUST trade one or both. I'd keep them. The biggest weakness they created by all the folks they moved at the deadline was the bullpen. Bullpen can also be the easiest weakness to fix, if done right, which, they have proven on more than one occasion they can do.
