  1. Then you get the pick and find another dude to tag team with Caratini as a one year bridge to the kids. Win win.
  2. There were times when Julien was the best hitter on the team. But he couldn't play defense to save his life. The game as both elements. If Keaschall was the best hitter on the team he'd be the DH. He's not.
  3. Kind of hard to justify the trade of the best pitcher we developed in decade considering the return we got.
  4. Keashall literally pushes a ball over the fence in RF. Jenkins goes 3-5 with a HR against the I-Cubs. If Jenkins leaves Des Moines and drives north on I-35 at the same time the Twins leave Dyarsville he can catch the bus before it leaves Iowa. It's time.
  5. He got the call ahead of Jenkins and Rodriguez because they weren't healthy at the time. They are now and the time has come to get them up here. We've seen what Roden looks like in a big league uniform. We need to see what these two guys look like before the end of the season. Do we REALLY want to risk a work stoppage next year leading to them debuting in 2028?
  6. If you're trying to tell me that a dude with a sub 1 WAR and sub .700 career OPS is a productive player we have far different expectations.
  7. To get the draft pick they have to offer him the qualifying offer. Maybe he turns it down and they get the draft pick. IF he takes it they pay him a lot of money but probably worth it as a bridge to one of the four top 15 prospects who could / should be ready by 2028. No downside.
  8. Other than the fact Austin Martin hits right handed, make a compelling argument for not calling BOTH up and sending Martin & Rhoden packing........
  9. Do you REALLY think Jeffers won't be here come April?
  10. You're right. We're ALMOST a game under .500 and those three guys are 3rd, 7th and 9th on the team in OPS and 6th, 8th and 9th in WAR. I see no reason to try to be better.
  11. Houston won't be in the bigs until this time next year at the earliest. And he might not play EVERY day when he arrives. Optimism is great. Tempered optimism is more realistic.
  12. Buxton in, Rhoden out? Jenkins in, Martin out? Or maybe a catcher? Shock the world and keep Jackson over Caratini? Both can play 1B and Jackson might be a better hitter.
  13. Heard they also wanted us to throw in Rod Carew & Harmon Killebrew. And Walter Johnson. Apparently, the Twins backed off when the Angels wouldn't include Nolan Ryan. And Frank Tanana.
  14. When it comes to baseball, to quote Billy Bob Thornton in bad Santa "They can't all be winners." In the game of life we hope they all can. Good luck in your next adventure kid.
  15. That season might be 5 to 6 years from now. A whole lot of unknowns between now and then. And are we really going to let them off the hook for the fact that those seven weeks this year aren't ten weeks, or seventeen?
  16. Have to think Larnach and / or Wallner might have fetched some sort of useful return. However, alas, sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make. Time will tell. Look up in the division. The Joey Bart deal is already not working out for the Sox,
  17. Your level of confidence has very little impact on what happens on the field.
  18. Can't fault them for taking a shot. Had they blown it up nobody would have been happy either.
  19. Good point. Never a good idea to have good players in the lineup.
  20. We've been down Refsnyder Road. As for Garver, is there any rules against carrying four catchers on the roster?
  21. Reminds me a little bit of unloading Jose Berrios in 2021. Come deadline a year hence they found themselves in need of, well, Jose Berrios. Enter Tyler Mahle. Oops. Hope this plays out better.
  22. Is it? Or will it strengthen the other owners resolve to change the system?
  23. Any Larnach decision has little to do with pocketbook. I have no issue "starting the clock" on Jenkins. Also wouldn't mind seeing "what we got" on the others as well. May well not get the opportunity in 2027. Might also be playing by different CBA rules by the next time we see guys on the field after October. One of which might be a five year "clock" rather than six years. Decisions might need to be accelerated. Not something we've been good at.
