  1. Only slightly off topic here, but remember when Max Kepler looked like Mickey Mantle?
  2. I think that statement was about the period from 1987 to 1991. And since no Twin who pitched in the 1991 World Series was on the roster in 1987 the statement is anything but disingenuous.
  3. I think it doesn't matter what anybody reading this thinks. Get back to me in 3-8 years.
  4. The argument is that is doesn't matter whether you make a move in the off-season or at the deadline. What matters is that you make the best move you possibly can regardless of timing.
  5. The irony of the Twins having a guy named Brady Anderson is that just yesterday as I pondered the fact the Brian Dozier had 42 home runs, the name Brady Anderson came to mind.
  6. Those acquired assets don't always prove to actually be valuable.
  7. I don't think there's an empirical difference. The object is to make the best deal you can whenever you make it.
  8. At some point your best players need to be playing FOR you rather than against you.
  9. Thinking there will be some magic pill that will make them successful in 2018 WITHOUT a best and most reliable starter? At some point you have to have your best players playing FOR you rather than against you.
  10. That kind of thinking is why we are always thinking 2 years out.
  11. Deal your best and only reliable starter? Makes perfect sense IF you have a replacement ready to step in at the same level. We don't. If 2017 Phil Hughes is going to be 2014 Phil Hughes that makes sense. He won't be. Nothing to see here. Move on.
  12. Often overlooked possibility about why Polanco spent all of his minor league time at 2B prior to Nunez being traded is that for the five months immediately preceding the six week period preceding the trade Dozier was brutal with a bat in his hand. We are all convinced that those days are behind us. We've been fooled before. Hopefully, not again.
  13. Ah. The old days when we hated Rick Anderson.
  14. I think the Gordon ETA is just about perfect. 2014-Rookie League; 2015-Low A; 2016-High A; 2017-AA; 2018-AAA; 2019-The Show. Too often this team moves guys through the lower minors in an orderly fashion and then seemingly succumbs to pressure to rush them thru the upper minors before they are ready. Take the time and do it right the first time so we can avoid repeatedly having to send him back down.
  15. There is no shame in trying something that flies in the face of the odds.
  16. Obviously you'd take 2016 every year. But, let's be honest, the reason you'd take 2016 is because it's not his 2015. And, NO, I wouldn't take his 2015 every year.
  17. Obviously you'd take 2016 every year-In part because he finished strong. . And, NO, I wouldn't take his 2015 every year-In part because he did NOT finish strong.
  18. If he wasn't healthy that would be the first we've heard of it.
  19. All AZ did was bring in "names" with no experience in their roles. I think most MN fans are hoping, not for names or even experience in a specific role but guys who have been mentored in a different way of operating a franchise. We brought in a "name" when we fired Gardy. You still need someone to bring in ball players.
  20. July 2015 thru May 2016 with no month higher than a .216 average is not streaky it's lousy.
