  1. Now tell us what the perfect off-season for the upcoming would be.....
  2. What he is doing somewhere else means exactly nothing about what he might have done here. What I know is that some things cannot be measured and he brings (brought) a lot of those types of things to the table AND those things are sorely lacking in the 2021 version of this team. Polanco has brought some of that of late but it's been far too little far too late.
  3. Mediocre led a back to back division winner in run production. I'll take that all day over the **** we've run out there this year.
  4. Actually the Eddie that was our leading run producer the last 4 years. The guy who actually played with heart, something we've not seen this year until the last month from Polanco.
  5. You don't win a trade if after the trade the best player in the deal is playing for the other team. Time will tell but unless one of the guys we got becomes an absolute stud, no, we did not win the day. Look back at deadline deals in 2017 & 2018 and tell me who won?
  6. Can't be worse than the # 5 back of the rotation types that they've been running out there since, basically, the advent of the 5 man rotation....
  7. If the offer does not include TWO of those top three it's not a godfather offer and no further discussion is needed.
  8. You don't get better when your best players a playing for other teams.
  9. If they haven't turned into MLB players in 4 years they're pretty much useless.
  10. 4 years removed from being sellers in 2017 and not a single player acquired is currently making a big league contribution. Sold in 2018 and the only player acquired currently making a big league contribution has a NEGATIVE WAR.
  11. Berrios IS our best pitcher. If you trade your best player and you get better, he wasn't your best player.
  12. You don't get better when your best players are playing for other teams.
  13. This is what happens when you don't give up on a talented player too soon---David Ortiz.
  14. It's almost like the guy who kept this type of thing from happening for the last half decade will be in the other dugout tomorrow night.
  15. He had BETTER be the savior. Or SOMEONE had better be. If not, it's going to look a lot like something is missing with the year's group. Something that can't be measured. Heart. Miles and miles of heart. Almost as if someone whose value to the team could never be measured in measurable things is no longer here. Someone in another comment mentioned that we need a spark. If only we some guy who for half a decade always seemed to be around to provide that spark when we most needed it were here to provide it.
  16. um, cuz, nothing gets won in April
  17. If he'd hit in the spring he might be here. Expecting a kid who doesn't hit in the spring to make the big league club in April is ridiculous.
  18. Last year was a fairly small sample size as well.
  19. Rocco's made it pretty obvious that he doesn't necessarily believe in the closer concept. However, if he does, I wish he'd send his starter out there for "one more" as much as he does his de facto closer.
  20. I'm excited to see him but willing to let him get a big league hit or two before I go overboard with the superlatives.
