"Batting average has long gone away as a stat indicative of true performance in and of itself." Unless we want to tout one of our guys for having a good one.
Can't see moving both Martin AND Miller. Not with the uncertainty surrounding Correa and Lewis and the fact that Palacios will turn 26 in another month and hit only .208 in his first big league go around.
Ryan, Gray & even Bundy have been better, THUS FAR this season but if you're gonna use the "can't stay on the field" argument against Buxton you have to use it against them as well. I'll still take him.
Still in first. The sky might NOT be falling. It's baseball. Stuff that shouldn't happen happens all the time. Ask the Dodgers about the Pirates coming to town.
Could have had Buxton AND Berrios for less than someone (else) will probably give Correa after this season. Gonna take a lot more than we've seen from Martin and Woods-Richardson to top that.
Would probably prefer Susac given the dearth of catching depth in the organization. Not an O's fan but cool to see them draft a first rate prospect named Brooks.
Stunned to read that Tony Pena has ROY eligibility at 64 years old and with nearly 6500 career at bats. Could you possibly be referring to Jeremy Pena?
Why give up something to get the same player you already have? Except Bell's NOT the same player. The difference is not huge but the edge does go to Sano. The only edge that Bell has is that, as of today, he's healthier.
I don't think "figuring out how to stay on the field" is something that a ball player has control over. Either you do or you don't. Not really something that can be controlled. Guy can be totally healthy all season and still get hurt at any point. I do like the possibility of playing him less earlier in the season and more later, hopefully in the post-season.
If only there were a way to keep his bat in the big league lineup without having to worry about him learning a new position in the middle of the season at the big league level. Difficult I suppose with Nelson Cruz entrenched in the DH spot.
Actually the organizational philosophy change occurred when Ryan took over for the second time but few of the players manifested it at the big league level until after he was gone.
