Unless the starter with a year and a half of team control that you traded away for two guys stuck in AA signs a contract that he would have jumped at had YOU offered it to him.......
So wrong. Seems like only a year ago we traded away our best starter for a couple of AA guys who remain AA guys to this day. Somebody's gotta get fired for this week.
Prospects are suspects until they're not. I've said for weeks that most fans would either be underwhelmed by what happens at the deadline or stunned at the cost. Not underwhelmed.
Not quite sure what world Urshela & Sanchez can be called second stringers in. OK, technically Jeffers has caught two more games than Sanchez but, counting DH, Sanchez has 92 more PA than Jeffers so I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Sanchez is NOT a second stringer.
Totally agree. Said the day we traded him that we'd find ourselves looking for what we just moved. We got two AA guys for him who remain AA guys to this day. Maybe they'll eventually pan out. Also a pretty good chance that Berrios will return to form as well. We could have had him and Buxton for half what the Padres will end up giving Juan Soto.
Sellers are always looking for pitching and buyers are always looking for pitching AND bats. Strong chance some contender looks at Kepler the way the Braves looked at Rosario a year ago. With Adam Duvall out for the year that team COULD be the Braves. Of course they're not likely inclined to give up arms that could help us down the stretch.
It's the Twins so draw your own conclusions on that. We move four other pieces last year and got one guy who has thus far helped and a few others that have not yet advanced.
Marlins weren't giving up Alcantara. If they were they'd have had a line from here to Miami of teams looking to make that move and would have gotten far more than we would have offered for him. And they didn't move him so that says a lot about what their intentions were to make such a move.
