  1. I'd be ecstatic if this was the year he played as many games as Buxton does. Larnach too. Then maybe we could get a read on what they might actually be able to contribute. If not, we may need to start looking at other options. And I'd have to continue to harp on the short-sightedness of moving of from Rosario when we did. Especially if we double down and do the same thing with Kepler this year just to get more right handed.
  2. Rodon will be off the market LONG before Correa moves.
  3. If I'm making a deal with Toronto for a catcher, I'd rather have Gabriel Moreno. They just might do it considering, Alejandro Kirk's an All-Star and a Silver Slugger winner and only 24 years old. Moreno's gonna cost but would be worth the price considering the dearth of high end catching in the system.
  4. Teams also have the right to re-sign said players before they reach free agency. Says so in the CBA. Typically, if they wish to retain the player, they make an offer they deem to be in line with his value to their team.
  5. 8 years, $275 Million is what it's gonna take at minimum on both--Unless it drags into March. Pay that now and get it done. Opt out shouldn't bother anyone if you honestly believe that Lewis, Martin & Lee are viable future options.
  6. And yet the Ms feel they can do better..
  7. Like they all showed up the second half of this season?
  8. Moving Kepler and bringing in Haniger would be taking a step back both offensively and defensively just to get more right handed?
  9. Pretty sure it's not a "policy" to not grow catchers. I agree, that it's currently a weakness of the system but I don't think it's intentional. You may also remember that eight months ago we just traded two of them with major league credentials. That tends to thin your numbers out a bit especially at a position without a lot of flexibility. You see lots of prospects with labels of "maybe he's this and maybe he's that." Very seldom do you see "maybe he's a catcher." Either they are or they aren't. Most aren't.
  10. And now we need to move Jhoan into the rotation and give him a shot at developing into the ace we've needed since we traded Johan. Having a lights out guy at the back of the pen who might not even be in the closer role will be useless (see 2022 Minnesota Twins) if we don't find that ace and if we continue to struggle to put 700 runs across the plate in a season.
  11. The only thing "blocking" Kiriloff is his ability to stay on the field. Same for Larnach. Two years in and they've both spent less time on the field than Buxton. At least when Buxton IS on the field he performs at an all world level. If this team, if Correa leaves, and with Urshela already gone, struggles to plate 700 runs again, do the pitching issues even matter? Do we really need Duran to be a lights out relief guy, possibly in a non-closer role? Put Duran in the rotation and give him a chance to develop into the ace we've spent a decade and a half looking for. Without that ace and without an 800 run offense what he does in the pen will be useless.
  12. A "master plan" is something you don't ever see from any team any time.
  13. Sadly, in our lineup, he's a plus stick.
  14. Tough for Kiriloff and Larnach to make us too left handed from the IL.
  15. Don't care how. Figure out a way to sign the man. I've been watching the Timberwolves play 14 games and all I keep hearing is that they lack heart. I've also watched the Twins let their "heart" guys walk. Rosario, Nelson Cruz. 2021 they have no heart and the only guys with heart in 2022 were Correa and Urshela. Heart. Can't measure it. Can't compete without it. Can't let those guys walk.
  16. Do we have to talk about it? If this guy's fixing a roster need you need to be working harder to fix your roster.
  17. Don't forget Tyler Jay who was a reliever in college.
  18. Fix the rotation first. Move Duran to the rotation. If the rotation ain't fixed a fixed bullpen is useless.
  19. Doesn't seem like counting on a guy who fielded and hit poorly at AA would be a good idea.
  20. Most wins after being eliminated gets the best odds.
  21. I love it. Bring back May. Make Duran the ace starter so desperately needed and avoid the same mistake we made by not giving May a shot to be a starter eight years ago. This team hasn't listened to my advice for 30 years. And they have NOTHING to show for it. Bout time they start.
  22. The next time this, or any other team, has a perfect off-season will be the first. Do we REALLY want to pencil in Larnach & Kiriloff when neither has managed to play as many games in either of their first two seasons as the oft injured Buxton did last year? Mancini's NOT coming here, or anywhere else, for four and a half million dollars. You're at least 5 and maybe 10 million dollars light on the Rodon number. This stuff is simple on paper. Bit tougher in real life. Is Narvaez REALLY a step up from Sanchez?
  23. What the Twins REALLY miss and need is guys with heart. Stuff you can't measure with analytics. Two guys on the roster that bring that this year. Correa and Arraez. Correa will most likely be gone. Rosario gone. Has NOT been adequately replaced in LF. Cruz gone. Has NOT been adequately replaced at DH. You can argue all you want about their production elsewhere after they left but the bottom line is that their production HERE has not been replaced. Until it is we will continue to struggle. You can't make soup out of promise and young guys can't perform from the injured list.
