  1. May well end up with the White Sox merely as a preemptive strike to cripple our lineup. I know I'm gonna get a bunch of rubes jumping on here and telling me that RBIs are a flawed stat but if Nelly walks, 30% of our run production from last year will be playing elsewhere in 2021 and the only thing flawed is likely to be our lineup.
  2. Ronald Torreyes
  3. How about we bring back three man post season rotations? Nobody wants to see 4th and 5th starters or bullpen days in the playoffs.
  4. Agree that we MIGHT be overstating our OF bounty. Especially if we trade Eddie. Trading Eddie likely puts us right back to having to rely on a .221 hitter as the 4th OF. I know many are not enthralled with Eddie's defensive prowess but I'm also not sure that throwing a guy with less than 10 professional games in LF is the answer to that. Keep Eddie and include Kirilloff in a 4 man OF rotation with each guy getting about 120 starts. IF Kirilloff knocks the doors off then you think about moving Eddie at the trade deadline.
  5. He's already gonna be a Twin for six of those seven years. Extending him now would just be throwing away the money that so many have seemed so concerned about paying Rosario. I'd at least like to see him get a big league hit before pulling the trigger.
  6. Worth noting that despite Ryan being gone for over 4 years Rogers, Duffey, Colina, Stashak, Thorpe, Berrios, Bolazovic, Sano, Rosario, Rortvedt, Rooker, Wade, Polanco, Kiriloff, Kepler, Gordon, Garver, Buxton, Blankenhorn & Arraez, more than half of the 37 guys currently on the 40 man roster are Ryan gets.
  7. So the goal is to have the best lineup in MLB but accomplishing that goal might include keeping Rosario and THAT is unfortunate? Seems like we're talking out of both sides of our mouths.
  8. I agree. And yet many think that trading a current corner outfielder WILL bring high end pitching.
  9. Not surprising at all that Cruz was designated as the one who could best pitch Beasley on staying here. After all, he IS their Designated Pitcher.
  10. You seem to forget that many fans are stupid.
  11. Some guys just bring something to the table that analytics can never measure. It's called heart. Eddie's that guy.
  12. If we win we don't give a damn what anybody else says. Everyone will know and play by the same rules and circumstances come opening day.
  13. AND he brings an IT factor that can't be measured by any sort of analytic. Bottom line, for all those that want to see him traded, is that he's "the straw that stirs the drink."
  14. Can we get the whole list of 27th picks?
  15. Funny how, when looking at an extended time period like this, Innings Pitched tends to be as good as any other metric for grading starting pitching. Bottom line, over an extended period, if you ain't good you don't eat innings.
  16. The ability to speak a half dozen languages doesn't do much for the ability to play ball.
  17. A better stat would be total possibility. A runner on 3rd is 1 possible base. Runner on 2nd is two possible bases. Runner on 1st is 3 possible bases and the batter himself is 4 possible bases. The batter has anywhere from 4 to 10 possible bases each time he comes up. A grand slam is 10 of 10. Divide the bases achieved by the possible bases. Seems even better than RBI % to me.
  18. Young guys got to prove it before you let one of them take over. Will take an injury or major slump for them to get the opportunity.
  19. I'd be much happier with Kepler in CF and any of Larnoch, Kiroloff or Rooker in RF.
  20. I think Chacin was brought in to compete for the 5th spot. Don't think that to this point the job has ever been his to lose.
  21. Would love to see 3 of the top 6 contributing before the end of the Summer and coming north next March / April.
  22. Kind of depends on the gap between your "best" arms and the rest. You could use your best arm(s) every 5th day and the rest on a different rotation. Just because it's not a conventional strategy doesn't mean it won't work.
  23. Resign Pineda. Sign one top FA. Trade for one starter. Somebody from within has to step up and become part of the rotation. Don't have a clue who any of those guys are going to end up being but this the formula we'll likely have to use. Signing more than one guy to a big FA contract is not likely, not so much because of the dollars needed but more because of the number of years needed to commit. Trading for a starter likely gives you a guy with two to three years of team control without committing big dollars for five or more years. Many will call that cheap but in reality it's smart. Keeps you from being hamstrung at the back end of multiple long term, big dollar contracts. Probably won't be popular but is the smart way to build.
