I was going to write the same opinion (except the part about being a former college pitcher). Routine is very important when you only play once a week.

Blaze O'Saben? He should be promoted to the Twins based on his name alone.

That probably would 't happen. Any cash generated would go directly into the pocket of ownership.

Captain Rocco!!! I see a giant iceberg heading toward your ship. Too bad the ship owners didn't put enough lifeboats on board. You can only save youself and your coaching staff,

Pitchers are not the discussion. I wouldn't bring up Gasper to replace a pitcher. Although if he replaces Bride, he may need to throw a few innings.

What I am trying to say is why hold it against a guy if he is 30 or more. If you need a spark and he is hitting at AAA, give him a shot.

The comparison was about small sample sizes, not individuals. And I also hate the ageism that is being used. If a player can contribute, what difference does his age make THIS YEAR. Gasper isn't a prospect by any stretch of the imagination. But the Twins need help now.

So you are saying that if a player is "only" going to miss 4-6 weeks, he's considered healthy? Then I guess the Twins are healthy.

In order to "stay healthy", I believe you first have to BE healthy. And the Twins aren't healthy. To say that Gasper is "not a major league player!" (and with an exclamation point for emphasis) is only true because he hasn't been given much of a chance. One of my favorite players of all time hit barely over .200 in his first 100 MLB at bats and struck out 26 times. But Willie Mays did okay. And all this complaining that he's over 30? I would rather have someone hitting the ball who's thirty and not a prospect than someone much younger but can't hit. The Twins are needing help now, not next year.

What really intrigues me is when players for the DSL Twins have their ages listed. 16 and 17 year old kids playing professional baseball. Amazing!

As @chpettite29 said above, the Twins are probably an 80-85 win team. I personally cannot understand why the Twins would trade anyone of significance just to get 2-3 additional wins. This team, if they make it to postseason, won't be in it long.

Whenever I read about a SS with a compact swing and great contact skills, I think Paul Molitor. When he left Cretin HS and continued at the U of M, it was often said by scouts that he would never make it in the pros because of his lack of power. If I remember correctly, he did okay for himself.

This reminds me of when the Texas state legislature passed a massive state government reorganization that proclaimed it would save the state millions. The net effect was that thousands of workers were laid off. One state legislator commented on this by saying: "If I knew that the bill would cause this much harm, I would have read the dang thing before I voted on it."

I agree with the "national rag" about attendance. More butts in the seats may "help" the Pohlads right now, but it may also help get new ownership. If the Twin Cities turnout looks like Tampa Bay, potential owners are losing interest. People on TD have complained (and rightly so) about boring baseball for a while. Now there is exciting baseball to be seen and it's time to show potential owners that attendance is not a worry.

I also do not remember Killebrew diving for ground balls, trying to stretch doubles into triples, or speeding down the first base line trying to beat out a groundball. As great as Killebrew was (and he was my favorite player), his job was to hit the ball into the stands in left field. He could do that even if he had a leg amputated. Not a good comparison.

Sounds like some people think Lewis should risk significant injury on every play just to keep them happy. I would rather see a Lewis, who possibly can hit .275 with some power, play everyday than watch Lewis get thrown out at third, re-injure himself, and be out of the lineup for a month. But that's just my opinion.
