    I agree. In the 1970's, when I made out the batting order for my team, the only stat I used was the HITHDHGOB statistic. HITHDHGOB was an acronym for How In The Hell Did He Get On Base measure that I created. If a player reached base without causing someone else to be out, he was awarded a point. That total was divided by the total number of at bats (including walks and sacrifice flies). I used this as my method for choosing the lineup (the higher the number, the higher in the lineup). There were two players who year after year finished first or second in HITHDHGOB and led off the lineup. The person with the highest actual batting average usually batted third or fourth. Weird, eh?

    A question popped into my head about player development. (And having an interesting thought by me before noon is very rare.) Quite a few people claim that other teams "develop" players better than the Twins. That may be true. However, what if the Twins are so bad at evaluating draft-eligible players that the real problem is the lack of talent available to "develop"?

    I agree with the first sentence but the second sentence I cannot decypher. "Now, 15-20 games is (questionable) and we will be there after this next game (game 5?) every day for 15 days (?) swing (at what?).

    I'm confused. In the breaking ball section, you say that in 2025, Bradley's cutter had 5.6 inches of break. And in his first start, the movement dropped to 1.1 inches. In the following paragraph, you state that he is throwing it 2.5MPH slower. And your summary is that he sacrificed velocity for more movement and the pitch has become a true slider. My questions are: 1) How is Bradley getting more movement if the break went from 5.6 inches to 1.1 inches?, and 2) Does Bradley no longer have a cutter replacing it with a slider? As an aside, I have no clue what the difference is between a cutter and a slider. When I played, pitchers threw fastballs and curves, with an occasional change up thrown in.

    Why not have optimism? The Twins are currently tied for the second best record in major league baseball, trailing only the Yankees by just one game.

    Those were the best odds you could get in Vegas? Or is that a typo and you meant 10,000 to 1? That would seem reasonable odds.

    Absolutely agree. I often read that Rodriguez will be promoted after he learns how to lay off pitches that he'll see in the majors. And how does anyone learn that skill if they are held in the minors.

    If a pitcher exhibits control by throwing a fastball "middle-middle", then what good does control do? IMHO, if you really have "control", you can not only throw strikes, but you throw those strikes to places with witch hitters have trouble (which you define as "command"). If the definitions you have provided are the accepted explanations, then I don't want a pitcher who only has control. Plus, if you possess command (ability to throw strikes where you want them), then you also must have control (ability to throw strikes). Only one term is necessary.

    Please explain the difference. I've never understood and people quite often use them as catch-alls, rather than actually explain the difference.
