That video shows great agility at shortstop. He might be more fun to watch than Correa. Correa had a cannon arm but not the agility of Houston while he was a Twin.

You've presented sound reasoning for extending both Ober and Keaschall and should be considered during the off season. With potential new ownership, it might be their opportunity to make a bold first move in Minnesota.

Three comments. 1) Tait has an arm. That throw to second was a rocket. 2) I am astounded by the number of rallies that included multiple walks and errors. A team with a few hits but 10 or 12 walks is not uncommon. It's difficult to determine the abilities of players. 3) The Twins either have a lot of speed in the minors or minor league catchers are awful.

Hold your horses there, pardner. The Pohlads aren't gone. Until the ink is dry on the documents finalizing the transfer of ownership, I would just play the hand that you've been dealt. Otherwise, good article.

I think that the Stewart trade for Outman was based on a misconception made by the Pohlads. They thought they were trading for ownership of the Outlander TV series. 😁

I sure hope that Houston's feeble throw to first in the video isn't indicative of his arm strength. The play was much closer than necessary.

Twins (Ryan) vs Guardians (Williams): 8/1/25, 6:10pm
terrydactyls replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
I remember years ago laughing when the vendors would shout out "Can't tell the players without a program!" because I knew all the players and their numbers. Tonight (or this entire weekend), that may be a very accurate thing to say, -

I'm still trying to absorb all that happened today. I may have to pay homage to Rocco and create a spreadsheet to figure it all out. But in general, I see three types of trades: those that make sense, those that boggle the mind, and those that are in between. Make sense: Trading Duran, and Correa. I don't like the return but I understand the reasoning. Boggle my mind: Trading both Jax and Varland. Just one of them would have moved this to Makes Sense. I don't like the return here either. In Between: Trading Bader, Castro, France, Coulombe, and Stewart. They got what they could. But what I'm really anxious to see is what the 26-man roster looks like at game time tomorrow. I hope a bunch of guys in their early 20's are on the roster. -
Some family wanted to contact the Twins? Did they call, text or email?

I dispute this. Therefore, by definition, it is not indisputable.

Ask for the moon and the stars. The Twins should demand at least the equivelant of Walter Jenkins and Luke Keachel (and they could throw in Vasquez for a Single-A lottery ticket. That would be a good starting position.

There have been many jokes made on Twins Daily about Falvey being "the smartest guy in the room". I think he actually is. He has so much information about players on other teams coming to him from scouts, advisors, fellow GMs, Twins' players, etc. that is not available to armchair quarterbacks which makes him smarter than any of us. So do I think he should be making deadline moves? Hell, yes. It's his damn job. Anything less would be counterproductive to his professional future.

To me, the verdict is - who gives a gaddum? (Sorry. I lived in the South for 35 years. Somethings are harder than others to get rid of.). Every year and every trade are new.

To me, these players might be important in trade talks if the Twins and whomever are sort of close to making a deal for Ryan but aren't quite there. For example, if the Twins and Giants are close to a deal but the Twins are hesitating, the Giants would offer to add Bryce Eldrich to the deal if the Twins throw in Danny Coulombe (or any other expiring contract such as Bader or Paddock).

The article was about a single trade. If their were "MANY" (thanks Mr. President) similar trades, they should have been mentioned.

I can agree with you. I"m just saying that to reject the idea of making a trade just because a similar one seven years ago didn't work out well, also seems foolish.

The premise of this article is very similar to me of the following. A friend of mine was looking for a good used car but wasn't very familiar with all the types of cars that are available. I suggested that she go to the Carmax near her and look at what's available and test drive any she might be interested in. Another friend jumped in to say (and this is the part that is similar to the article) that she had a friend who had a cousin (I'm not exaggerating) who had a bad experience with Carmax and, therefore, she wouldn't go there under any circumstances. Just because the Presley trade didn't work out (and I thought it was a good trade), that's not a reason to never do it again.

That is your assumption. Plus it has nothing to do with the value of the player as a trade chip.
