  1. Speaking of steals, the arm on that Tee made picking Kepler off 2nd look awfully easy yesterday
  2. Hmmm. The thing with the eyes. You know, light sensitivity is a big symptom/trigger with migraines. I wonder if he's plagued by them and maybe hasn't been as upfront about them in regards to how badly/how often they are affecting him.
  3. Not a fan of the road jerseys at home; they still letting the SP make the call on which uni they go with? And I know it's a random, meaningless question, I was just curious. (at least they went with the TC hats).
  4. At least for me, the two (plantar and 'bad' knee) have two very different types of pain; The knee, which I had to have cleaned up, looked like an underwater snow globe with the torn mensicus looking like a moray eel lurking in a bed of seaweed (torn cartilage that tries to fix itself by "growing) had that deep achy pain and the swelling just would not quit. It was more the functionality than the pain. The plantar, felt like a knife stabbing into the bottom of my foot. I don't think you could tape it up enough to keep it from stretching even just a little bit. Just excruciating. I bit the bullet and fixed it by 'completing' the tear on my basement steps and ice baths. I could play with the worst of my hangovers but they'd probably need to keep some extra infield dirt (or that red janitor's powder) handy for when my belly just said, "aaannnd we're out".
  5. As someone else stated, the Twins seem hesitant to go after the 1st pitch, which unless things have dramatically changed, is 180 degrees away from what they should be doing. Can't remember which book I'd read, but it said that pitchers want to get that 1st pitch over for a strike, and one would think with the bases loaded, that would even be more of a 'need'. The other part of that was that that 1st pitch is most often the 'best' hittable ball the batter will see in that AB. Wasn't Mauer's propensity to watch that 1st pitch go by for strike one high on fan's "pull your hair out" list of things? Now, I am not saying they should go up there thinking that they should swing away 100% of the time on the 1st pitch, but they should really keep in mind that the pitcher REALLY wants a strike there, and it might be their best/only opportunity for a hittable ball.
  6. The thing with putting it on the player's 'not performing' really isn't fair either. I'll give an analogy (I haven't thought the whole thought through so hopefully I don't ramble too much). I work in the Electronics industry and have for almost 40 years, doing a variety of different jobs. I have and do work with some of the most talented/smart/'crazy smart' people in a wide breadth of fields. No matter how much talent and ideas and stuff like that you have, you can't overcome inept management, you just can't. As the talent, you basically have to do what you're told to do; you can give your opinions on things, but ultimately, it isn't your say/choice on how it goes. You can piss/moan/complain to your boss and/or co-workers, but that just gets you a "not a team player" label and an eventual trip out the door, even if you are correct in what you are saying. There gets to be a point where you "stop trying" for lack of a better term, because it gets you nowhere and just leads to chronic frustration. Sure you come in and "do your job, earn your check", but the passion is gone. I think of Joey Gallo, he actually made public his gripe, and how do you think he took Baldelli's response? He won't bitch, but I tell you, in his head, there's a certain amount of "eff this". Going 'above and beyond'? Nope, not any more. A good manager in any field gets his team on the same page, and is able to get his/their team to 'rise to the occasion' where not only do they go through the paces, they're eager to excel, and fired up/excited about the possibilities of what can be accomplished. I just don't see that in this Front Office and Manager.
  7. and now a broken leg from a foul tip.....
  8. Schedule comes out today. NFL did the Vikings dirty in a leak that I saw. Week 1 Sunday home against the Bucs; Week 2 Thursday night away against the Eagles. So not only get hosed with games 4 days apart at the very beginning of the season, they couldn't even let them be at home for the two games?
  9. Zero interest in either one. I do have a question though; the way your piece (not sure if a blog or article, and maybe just semantics) is written, it sounds as if they will continue to sell alcohol throughout the night and during the concert after the game. Is that true?
  10. I don't see a way past the Umpire's Union with this, even though it shows true accountability. Let's say in the game Ted watched, the umpire ended up being wrong in all the challenges; Put up there on the big screen in glorious HD color, probably with multiple showings. The crowd (especially if the initial call was against a 'home' player) would eat him alive. If they can toss players for 'arm waving', yelling, and articulating as "showing up the umpire", how is repeated replays of their mistake not looked as that?
  11. Well, the image Melissa posted with the article should really give you an idea of what's what. Her shot is from the lower infield seats facing towards the stage at the back wall of centerfield. For "infield" seats (regardless of up/down the line or level) these are roughly about as close as you can get to the stage. If you want a better/closer view, you have to get the "floor" seats out there in the outfield grass. As others have noted, the sound is pretty good all over.
  12. No. Passing interest in the Flaming Lips (who I've seen a few times at other venues), the rest a hard 'pass'. Took a group to the Journey/Def Leppard show a couple years back, and even with decent "infield" seats it's a mile away from the stage (look for the people on the stage in the photo that goes with the article), but maybe in this day and age people just watch the show on the video boards. Anybody catching Graham Nash at the Dakota this week?
  13. Thanks! I do and it does. Still would be nice to have it work as one would think it should though.
  14. Just experimented. Double arrow take me to the bottom of the last page.
  15. Nope; still does it. I believe it's been that way since I've been a member as well. I'm using Chrome FWIW.
  16. OK, maybe as a distraction from the ugliness, can anyone answer this? When I'm in this game thread (or any other one for that matter), and I get to the bottom of a page of comments and click on either: the next page number or the "next" button, why doesn't it go to the top of the next page? For me, it goes to the very bottom of the next page, which is a PITA, to then have to scroll all the way to the top to read the comments in order. Is it just me? Or is there some sort of odd settings button I need to change/click?
  17. As a craft beer drinker, does anyone know what the $6 beer options are? I've seen a lot of situations (like at regular bar happy hours) where only the cheap macro-brews are included in the "specials".
  18. I know it's risque but that shirt would be so much better if they replaced the "out of" with "at", and go for the double entendre action, but maybe my mind is just in the gutter this morning.
  19. And I agree with that, I don't go for the "food and beer", but that doesn't mean I don't like to have a snack or quench my thirst while sitting out on a sunny day, but the idea that it's going to cost me over $30 for a drink and a sandwich seems outlandish. (yes, I realize I can get a hotdog or popcorn for less). Huh. I just went to their website to look at ticket prices to compare against the food/drink ones and I see that they have made the ticket buying process as blurry as possible. They don't list ticket prices at all, you need to select an individual section and actually click on a seat to see how much it costs. No way to see what the "best seat available" is sorted by price at all. Wow. I guess when you sell out almost every game, you don't need to worry about it, but TBH, I find that whole method distasteful enough that it will certainly reduce the number of games I will attend this year.
  20. Food looks fabulous, BUT not seeing any pricing on any of it; and if the "$16" price for a tap beer in the initial photo (if you can call Mich Ultra beer) is any indicator, all of those items would look to be about $20+ except may the cheese bread.
