  1. Man's gotta know his limitations.
  2. Or is Reinsdorf crazy like a fox? I've been starting to hear rumors of 'stadium issues' coming from the South Side, with Nashville (so far) being loosely used as leverage. Poor team performance, coupled with poor attendance are both 'needs' in the "we need a new stadium to stay competitive" game. So cut costs (payroll) and start the "woe is me" stories.
  3. Promoting? The entities pay to have the square there, not the other way around. I doubt Sex World is going to come up with $10M+/yr to put their name on the jerseys. (and don't they still do the free entry with a ticket stub from the game or did that go away with the physical paper "stubs"?
  4. Whose logo you prefer to see. Yes, I'm aware that the overwhelming answer is "no patch", but since $$$ is king, we all know that's not an option unless someone like a Tom Hanks decides to pay for a 'blank' patch to try and rein in the changes to the game.
  5. I'll just add this little locale..... https://www.geneandmarcyhollerhouse.com/
  6. Well, I will say this; Souhan's job is to generate page clicks and stir people up, and like a lot of the people who don't 'get' that the Common Man's schtick is just that, a faux clueless persona, apparently Souhan's take reeled a few of you in as well. The issue I have with Souhan, is you never get HIS actual position on things, you get the contrarian position of the day. Now for the casual reader, that might not matter much or even seem noticeable, but for someone who reads him regularly, it drives me nuts because he'll write an article such as this one, then 3 or 4 days later we'll get another piece where he takes the completely opposite side of the issue, like he'd never written the 1st piece. So now I just take his articles as 'pot stirring' and see who gets taken in by them.
  7. It's "Tastykakes" for one thing (go with the butterscotch Krimpets); have some pierogi; if you're a 'beer' guy, try some Yuenglings; while it's brewed about 100 miles away in Pottsville, it is the oldest brewery in America.
  8. Well, since the arthroscopic clean-up apparently didn't do the trick, outside of replacement, I guess there's the possibility of using the microfracture stem cell surgery procedure if it's a cartilage damage situation. But like others have said, if that's the case, shut it down now, get the 'fix' underway and hope for the best in '24. *Edit. I guess there's the possibility that they tell him that to avoid the replacement at such a young age, he needs to avoid heavy stress on the joint, period.
  9. So, was wondering if there was such a site/rankings chart and lo and behold here it was: https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/valuation Highest ranked Twin is Buxton at #100; Castro is at #110, Gallo at #115, Tayor at #133, Larnach at #155, Solano at #176, Kepler at #210, Correa at #231... I assume this is just batting. Fun little site as you can look and sort all sorts of rankings like in fantasy baseball, but with the salaries of the players tied in as well.
  10. Speaking of steals, the arm on that Tee made picking Kepler off 2nd look awfully easy yesterday
  11. Not a fan of the road jerseys at home; they still letting the SP make the call on which uni they go with? And I know it's a random, meaningless question, I was just curious. (at least they went with the TC hats).
  12. At least for me, the two (plantar and 'bad' knee) have two very different types of pain; The knee, which I had to have cleaned up, looked like an underwater snow globe with the torn mensicus looking like a moray eel lurking in a bed of seaweed (torn cartilage that tries to fix itself by "growing) had that deep achy pain and the swelling just would not quit. It was more the functionality than the pain. The plantar, felt like a knife stabbing into the bottom of my foot. I don't think you could tape it up enough to keep it from stretching even just a little bit. Just excruciating. I bit the bullet and fixed it by 'completing' the tear on my basement steps and ice baths. I could play with the worst of my hangovers but they'd probably need to keep some extra infield dirt (or that red janitor's powder) handy for when my belly just said, "aaannnd we're out".
  13. As someone else stated, the Twins seem hesitant to go after the 1st pitch, which unless things have dramatically changed, is 180 degrees away from what they should be doing. Can't remember which book I'd read, but it said that pitchers want to get that 1st pitch over for a strike, and one would think with the bases loaded, that would even be more of a 'need'. The other part of that was that that 1st pitch is most often the 'best' hittable ball the batter will see in that AB. Wasn't Mauer's propensity to watch that 1st pitch go by for strike one high on fan's "pull your hair out" list of things? Now, I am not saying they should go up there thinking that they should swing away 100% of the time on the 1st pitch, but they should really keep in mind that the pitcher REALLY wants a strike there, and it might be their best/only opportunity for a hittable ball.
  14. and now a broken leg from a foul tip.....
  15. Schedule comes out today. NFL did the Vikings dirty in a leak that I saw. Week 1 Sunday home against the Bucs; Week 2 Thursday night away against the Eagles. So not only get hosed with games 4 days apart at the very beginning of the season, they couldn't even let them be at home for the two games?
  16. Zero interest in either one. I do have a question though; the way your piece (not sure if a blog or article, and maybe just semantics) is written, it sounds as if they will continue to sell alcohol throughout the night and during the concert after the game. Is that true?
  17. I don't see a way past the Umpire's Union with this, even though it shows true accountability. Let's say in the game Ted watched, the umpire ended up being wrong in all the challenges; Put up there on the big screen in glorious HD color, probably with multiple showings. The crowd (especially if the initial call was against a 'home' player) would eat him alive. If they can toss players for 'arm waving', yelling, and articulating as "showing up the umpire", how is repeated replays of their mistake not looked as that?
  18. Well, the image Melissa posted with the article should really give you an idea of what's what. Her shot is from the lower infield seats facing towards the stage at the back wall of centerfield. For "infield" seats (regardless of up/down the line or level) these are roughly about as close as you can get to the stage. If you want a better/closer view, you have to get the "floor" seats out there in the outfield grass. As others have noted, the sound is pretty good all over.
  19. No. Passing interest in the Flaming Lips (who I've seen a few times at other venues), the rest a hard 'pass'. Took a group to the Journey/Def Leppard show a couple years back, and even with decent "infield" seats it's a mile away from the stage (look for the people on the stage in the photo that goes with the article), but maybe in this day and age people just watch the show on the video boards. Anybody catching Graham Nash at the Dakota this week?
