  2. Players are obviously the most important determiners of success, but that’s not what is being talked about here. Coaching does matter, and game managing absolutely matters a great deal. If you have no idea whether or not it matters, then let us tell you that it does. 🙂 Many stories about how Rowson worked with Buxton, Baldelli crediting Shelton for winning moves, etc. if you are saying that the problems in this organization run higher than the dugout, then I can agree with you on that.
  3. I would attribute most of Rocco’s success in 2019 to Derek Shelton. But that’s just me. One question I have is why the Twins are not drawing coaching talent like Shelton, Rowson or Pickler anymore.
  4. Shannon Stewart was certainly a spark plug. I don’t think the makeup of the Twins organization now compares with the 2003 team. The only trade pieces they have are Lewis and Lee. I don’t know who they are supposed to include in an offer for “someone big” nor do I have any idea where the Ohtani stuff originated from. Skor North guys? Totally irresponsible. The Correa injury on the eve of Lewis’s debut is another storybook irony which we will have plenty of time to discuss elsewhere. Anyway, thanks for the update Nick.
  5. I’d love to see Lewis in the dugout for Sunday’s finale against the Blue Jays, then fly with the team to Houston to be activated for his debut the next day!
  6. I think they are just being cautious with Lewis. You might see him held back a couple games, play 7 innings, told not take risks, stuff like that. He will be or should be up at 12:01 A.M. the day he is eligible.
  7. Gray and Ryan each deserve an A individually, but I wouldn’t give any of the other 5-6 starters an A. Maybe a solid B for a couple others.
  8. Well, then. So much for trying to lighten the mood around this place. 🙂 (yes i have had it)
  9. Not likely but not impossible I guess; we can’t really know for sure. I would hope Correa wasn’t playing on it and making it worse. I’ve given my non-clinical opinion and I stand by it. 🙂
  10. Not likely. Have you had it? It’s a hard thing to play through. if Correa has been masking the pain and playing on it, then I don’t know what to say To add: hoping Correa takes care and recovers and we see him better in a few weeks. He might be best to DH at that time as well. By that time I would hope to see Lewis at short and Buxton moved off of DH. This could be a silver lining.
  11. Good thing Rocco didn’t pinch hit for Julien there! 🤣
  12. An underrated skill for dealing with uncomfortable quiz questions you don’t like (or internet posts you don’t like, or shaky #3 hitters, or emerging shortstop controversies) is to do nothing and keep scrolling
  13. I think the Twins need to drop to 12 pitchers. The starters are doing really well, and going deeper into games, and some of these back end bullpen guys are pitching once a week. When the next position player is ready to come back, send a relief pitcher to AAA.
  14. I feel like the recent bullpen struggles is giving Rocco the itchy trigger finger with starters, too. I mean, I realize that Rocco didn’t deal this hand to himself. I would like to see a starter go 8 innings in this next series against the Gigantes.
  15. In real time, I thought Pablo should have stayed in the game. If Pablo gets through the 7th, then you have Jorge for the 8th and Duran for the 9th. That’s what the thinking should have been, right there.
  16. but not enough to leave him in for one more batter? 🙂
  17. I think the point is the hook was too quick. Maybe Lopez goes up to 110-115 pitches, but also there is a chance that the next pitch is a ground ball double play, too.
  18. Often, you can steal the base off the pitcher or the pitch that’s thrown.
  19. Jeffers actually made a nice throw a couple innings ago when the runner had the base stolen on the pitcher
