  1. That 7th inning last night will go down as one of those innings “never to forget” like that inning in Oakland in April 2021, when Colome walked all those batters and the infielders threw it away. Fortunately those innings do not happen every night.
  2. Give Correa credit. He said the booing is acceptable right now.
  3. Ok for all the drama and dysfunction Buxton could make this 3-2 in one swing
  4. The media in this market enables them, big time (except for Reusse and a couple radio guys) but that’s a topic for another time and place people just have no idea
  5. Stringing hits together—time to swing for the fence!
  6. the goal at this point is to finish higher than 2nd in a 2 team division
  7. This is probably asking a lot, and I would have to see the replay, but maybe Jax makes a harder play on that first ‘tweener in the infield that got the leadoff guy on? I don’t know I would have to see it again.
  8. No. this has been anothe edition of …
  9. You will never get the job because I will say the same thing in the interview as you, and will say they can pay me a dollar less than you ! hence, I am hired for cheaper
  10. Batting averages were consistently around .260 for decades, went up during the steroid era, and now have come down. I don’t know the recent trends or averages but change my mind, .200 is absolutely terrible.
  11. Yeah but you are OvertheHill 🙂
  12. Seems newsworthy and relevant to this topic. (h/t MABB1959 from game thread) Phil Miller, StarTribune: "We had a four-hour conversation. I said, 'I think we're a better team if you're DH-ing and taking 500 at-bats and just focusing on hitting 40 or 50 homers during the season and let Michael Taylor guard the outfield,'" Correa recalled. "He took it very well." That's not to say he agreed. But Buxton said his teammate was very persuasive. "At that point, I was still trying to figure this out for myself. I literally try not to think about my at-bats, so I don't overthink," Buxton said of a decision that has so far kept him in the Twins' lineup in all but three games this season. "When I play the field, whatever happens at the plate, you can go back out and focus on that, like 'OK, then nobody else is getting a hit.'" Correa, who revealed their conversation while wearing a microphone on the field during Friday's AppleTV+ broadcast, said he understood Buxton's hesitation, but focused on how much the team benefits when he is healthy. https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-twins-carlos-correa-byron-buxton-center-field-or-designated-hitter-michael-a-taylor/600273344/?refresh=true
  13. When Cuddyer was Miranda’s age, the Twins had established everyday starters at every position except maybe right field, and the Twins were on their way to the ALCS that season. Cuddyer was promoted because he was raking at AAA and right field was where he could get playing time with the Twins.
  14. Just heard the radio guys say that there’s a breeze blowing out, and some humidity in the air.. let the fly balls fly! I’d love to see/hear a high scoring game for a nice change. I’ll go with Twins win, 14-8!
  15. Yes. 🙂 Literally anyone on the roster in a new fielding configuration IMO would have been worth giving Miranda a day off at some point. I would go with Solano at third, or try Polanco at third with Gordon at second for a day, carry one less relief pitcher and call someone up, etc
  16. Good catch, maybe there is somthing to this. There are now axe handle baseball bats, bats with asymmetric handles, that MLBers are using. I remember a lot of press in 2016 about Kurt Suzuki switching to one, and his numbers improved immediately. Won't help you to lay off a bad pitch out of the zone, however. Also, give the guy a day off once in a while ferpetessake
  17. I feel a win coming! I am lobbying for Miranda to get a day off at some point this season—join my campaign! 🤣 #LoadManagementforMiranda
  18. No, I don’t think the Twins have developed Joe Ryan into something he wasn’t already. He has always been a strike thrower, if you want to look at walks per nine. Back to his Rays days and before that in college. https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content/player/188203/
