    Not to excuse Polanco, but I noticed that Arraez was actually playing up the middle and coming at the bag from an odd angle. But anyway. Any word on Maeda's condition? Five whole innings? He must be gassed—that's a Falvey era record for starting pitchers Also, Buxton batting second.. no. Someone should have brought up how badly Buxton fared when Molitor batted him third that year. His place is at the bottom somewhere. Anyway enough of the snark. Get em tomorrow. What other choice is there. I will bang my head against the wall all night tonight but expect a different result tomorrow.

    Another story I heard was Gardy also wanted to send in a pinch hitter to face Rivera, but the possible pinch hitters Gardy wanted to use were not exactly making themselves seen at the bat rack champing at the bit. (I wish I had known that at the time.) Anyway, welcome to the bigs Alex!

    Thanks for the update Seth! I’m a little worried about Kirilloff actually making an appearance, but Mondesi made his MLB debut for K.C. during the World Series so I like the creative thinking.

    I will add 4 more things to worry about: Garver, Avila, Astudillo, Jeffers I’m not worried long-term, but we need one of those guys to tighten up their game before the first series.

    I hear you, but Berrios has more playoff experience than Pineda and I think Berrios was removed far too soon from Game 1 last October. Pass on Dobnak and don’t forget about Hill and Odo.

    I think Cave is fine as a replacement, but no not a starter, Wade looks clearly better. Same with the Turtle as a replacement. Astudillo has at least one more optionyear I’m guessing so very good to have around. I’d be interested in knowing how the interrupted sprig training preparation has affected catchers. Garver looks like he needed a full spring training to work and get in a rhythm. Maybe the same with Astudillo.

    I didn’t understand the voluntarily pinch running for Rooker in the fifth, when you’ve already got a lineup of big plodding guys and some other guys dinged up, in a close game when you might want a pinch runner later. But, it worked out. That last play! Interesting thoughts on Rosario being at second and then running past the shortstop at just the right moment. Shortstop did nothing wrong and Rosario didn’t really interfere. As someone else said elsewhere, if the shortstop had been hyper aware and thinking out scenarios prior to the ball put in play, he might throw home for the tag on Cruz. I do seem to recall infielders having made plays like that. But that’s a lot to expect in the moment. But that was all Buxton!

    Here’s the thing. You demand a sacrifice of some sort. There was a football player recently who kneeled during national anthems to raise awareness of this. And he suffered the consequences. He sacrificed his football career for this. Thoughts?

    Bad calls, but not as egregious as I was expecting. Much worse to me are pitches in the strike zone called balls.

    If Berríos is working on a fastball pitch or grip this year that isn’t getting results, then I expect he’ll eventually abandon it. His best pitch will always be that slider that looks like a fastball and breaks like a curve. I have zero concerns about Berrios pitching at a high level for many more years—and maybe even turning the corner from good to great at some point.

    And educate, I think. Keep pounding away at telling people how the virus is primarily transmitted—inhaling and exhaling each other’s air. Every briefing, every player meeting.

    As do the rest of us. You are biting off more than you can chew. As stated in the original post, the goal of the Twins panel is to : “to introduce possible job applicants (students and current professionals) to a side of the team they may not know exists.” Please take your concerns to the blog section, the sports bar, or better yet, elsewhere. I have every reason to believe the Twins have their heart in the right place and are what is in their power to do right now to improve this situation.
