    It's still April for god sake. Let's talk in a couple months. Many / MANY questions to answer before we have a clue of how to set-up for the 2nd half.

    We did not hold on to him long enough to determine what he could do. He had a total of 267 PAs while with the twins and lots of people here had the pitchforks out at 150 ABs. He has a grand total of 352. He might end up to be great or mediocre but why should we feel good about dumping a guy who is absolutely crushing it. He still has a milb option left and he could have been kept on the 40 man.

    You make room when a guy is crushing it the way Rooker is now. Who knows what level he sustains but his OPS is 300 points higher than Buxton. We have quite a few guys presently and going forward that can cover a lot of defensive positions. He would look really good as a DH on this team.

    If you look at how Tampa Bay has built their teams over the past 20 years, the answer is yes. They have built their teams around moving players like Kepler or better. They got Rassmussen by trading Willy Adames. I hope Wallner gets a chance to prove himself this year so if we know what to expect if he replaces Kepler. Wouldn't it be something if they ended up resigning Gallo given how he got slammed here. Could we end up making him a qualifying offer? That would be a nice bonus if we ended up with a great year from him and then a compensation pick as a bonus.

    Did Hayes report anything from the team in terms of how his wrist is responding?

    Let's hop Buxton can eventually play 50% of games in CF. They have Gordon / Gallo / and Kepler who are all capable of a limited role and eventually Lewis should be the primary back-up. I am really on the fence in terms of when to bring Kirilloff back because we just don't have enough information. With what we know today, it makes sense to option him until he can play 6 days a week.

    Stewart looks like a decent find. The BP has a decent chance of being better with the addition of Winder and Stewart. Hopefully these two guys are the answer.

    Let's just ignore that lineup scored 6 runs. Inexcusable is not the word I would use to describe the absurdity of "Rocco did not want to win" but how someone comes to the conclusion his motivation was a desire to loose has many descriptive adjectives.

    Again ... We are talking about what is happening right now. You are bitching about him when he is performing great. If he sucks in June, let's bitch about him then. Doing so now while he is performing is idiotic.

    Count me along with the others that support moving Maeda to the pen and Ober into the rotation. Add Winder to the BP as well and the whole thing looks a lot better IMO. The pen would be Duran / Lopez / Jax / Thielbar / Maeda / Winder and two of Alcala / Sands / Henriquez and Stewart. Hopefully Alcala and Henriquez bounce back. That would give them a lot of flexibility with guys that could go 2 or even 3 innings.

    Where exactly does he rank in exit velocity. Do you stop to think about what is actually happening when you make these statements? Is it a bad thing that he is crushing the ball and also gets some "cheap" hits. If his OPS was 750 you would have a point. When it's over 1000, you are just being ridiculous.

    I want to optimistic because the Kirilloff we all envisioned would be a big boost to this team for several years. Do they still do the weekly minor league update on the radio broadcast? You would think the state of Kirilloff's wrist would be addressed. If not, there will be something written when his rehab assignment expires and he brought back or optioned.

    If you want to make the point that he won't sustain this level of production, we would all agree. That does not mean we should not be pleased with what is actually happening. Should we be happy with Correa's futility this year because he has been good over the course of 3900 PAs? You seem to be a lot more concerned with past performance as opposed to what's actually happening. Should Oakland fans be down on Rooker because he has not had success in the past or should they be pleased with the way he is performing?

    It sure looks like Kirilloff's wrist surgery was a success. This is one of the bigger question marks for this team and it's looking like this question is going to have a positive answer. Severino might end up being the prospect to elevate their prospect ranking the most this year.

    Let's just ignore the metrics that indicate he has been our best hitter and focus on strike outs. Let's hold on to our preseason position about a player even when the facts are quite clear that we were wrong. The guy has been a great addition to this team so far. Let's get over the need to be right and be glad we have him.

    I am curious about the wrist but don't feel remotely qualified to offer an opinion as to the likelihood of it holding up. Not only do I NOT possess the very specialized skill set to offer an informed opinion. I also have no information from the medical staff as to how he is doing. Perhaps you could lend me your crystal ball.

    If Petty ends up an Ace, you could say we would have been better off keeping Petty but I agree with you that the odds are not good for a high school pitcher and this was a smart trade.

    That's a good catch. The pick would be just a few picks later than Petty. Even if he pitches to the same level as last year he would be worth a qualifying offer. An overpay on a one-year deal is generally going to be better than signing a 34 y/o SP to a 3 or 4 year deal. I agree, either way, this should work out favorably for the Twins. Let's hope he stays healthy.

    I appreciate where you are coming from. You are just a week or two or three ahead of me in terms of how much time we give for the player to make adjustments. In Larnach's case, he is an above average player measured by wRC+ so I don't see a problem that needs immediate attention. I am also wondering who would you promote to take Larnach's spot in the OF? BTW .... I think there is a pretty good chance he goes down when Farmer is ready to come back. Their other options will be Gordon and Solano given there is no way they move Taylor.

    Welcome back Jorge Polanco. We are so happy to see you in the lineup. Sonny Gray sure sets a great example of how to compete for the youngsters and the rest the team in general. Now, if Correa and Miranda can get their acts together. They are both taking poor ABs. Miranda was swinging at pitches a foot out of the zone once he got 2 strikes. Reminded me of Eddy Rosario and that total lack of discipline was the difference between Rosario being great and the replacement level player he is today.

    Which OFer do they have ready to come up that's better than Larnach? They could put Kirilloff in the OF but it makes more sense to move Gallo to the OF and play Kirilloff at 1B. He is a better 1B than an OFer and 1B will be his primary position beyond 2023. BTW Larnach has a wRC+ 10 points higher than Buxton.

    You would cut Larnach? Do you mean send him back to AAA for the time being or just give up on him all together?

    Really easy to have hindsight. Fans here forget about all the players they wanted sign who turn out to be disasters. I remember posts absolutely blasting the front office for not signing Madison Bumgarner. Lots of people wanted Patrick Corbin and Johnny Cueto. I remember a couple people all-in on Jacoby Ellsbury. Even Berrios looks like a very questionable sign at this point and there was endless criticism that the front office was not "serious " about winning and absolutely brain dead for letting Berrios go. The lists goes on and on so let's remember how many deals we all support that turn out to be horrible and harmful long-term. Every front office makes these mistakes. In this case they had the good sense to get out of it and there are still people that still don't recognize that it was a great trade to get out of the contract.

    Really? The top 5 hitters are Gallo / Jeffers / Vazquez / Buxton and Solano. 3 of the 5 we added and they worked with Jeffers to improve his offense and it’s working. That kind of significant improvement from within is more valuable than a trade or free agent. The two biggest problems have been Correa’s production and Polanco’s absence. To blame it on what they didn’t do this off-season is a convenient way to support a conclusion you came up with before the season started.
