    That was some good coaching and execution on the pickoff play at 2B. Jeffers said on the radio that it was his call to make. Edit: Gray now talking postgame. Correa told Jeffers and Gray after the 1st inning that the runners on 2B can't hear the third base coach and that the pickoff play could work at some point in the game. Great leader, smart.

    So you're benching Julien on Wednesday? Not me until we are ahead in the 7th.

    Great news - Correa, Lewis and Taylor all looked really healthy today. I realize you go all out in the playoffs even if they're hurting. Polanco didn't look so healthy.

    Who are you benching - Polanco or Julien? I would have Polanco at 3B and Julien at 2B if Lewis has to DH.

    Twins pregame - Brooks Lee told the Twins player development head that the "nastiest" pitcher he faced in college was Cory Lewis. Interesting.

    Rocco said exactly this on the post game show. The length he went in this game allows Maeda to continue to be stretched out and pitch either as a starter or reliever.

    Severino vs. Miranda - Miranda hits for better average and strikes out a lot less. Severino has more power. I rate their defense about equal. With a healthy roster (I know that never happens), not sure where either of them play for the Twins. The questions to be answered - was 2023's bad season all because of Miranda's shoulder issue in the spring and will Severino ever cut down on his massive amount of SO's?

    Reports seem to have Lewis as DH in the wild card series. That really weakens our infield defense to get both Polanco and Julien's bats in the lineup.

    Interesting comments by Provus and Gladden about Trevor Larnach on the post game show. The Twins tried to change him from going to all fields to be being mostly a pull hitter and it messed him up. Is it just me, or do the Twins try change too many great hitters in the minors (Austin Martin) and it turns out to flop?

    Camargo should be added to the 40 man this winter. I don't see Helman or Prato being added though. The Twins can probably afford to lose one (would rather not) but must not lose both. I see them as fighting for the exact same position. I like to compare Helman's injury free season from last year to Prato's season this year, basically at the same minor league levels. Helman - 512 AB's, 20 HR's, .258 batting average, .432 slugging, 40 SB's. Prato - 361 AB's, 12 HR's, .255 batting average, .435 slugging, 18 SB's. Very comparable. Making the AB's even, gets the #'s pretty close. Helman probably the better base stealer. Prato is two years younger, an advantage for him. Defensively, Helman plays everywhere except catcher. Prato does not play CF and didn't play SS with the Saints. Very slight advantage overall to Helman for me. Castro blocks both Prato and Helman though IMO.

    I think it does relate to Ober because there is a greater likelihood of a long game as there isn't a ghost runner.

    I believe Regi Grace is Rule 5 eligible. I didn't look but being Miguel Rodriguez has been with the Twins for awhile, he may be as well. I don't see the Twins adding them to the 40 man roster. Teams like pitchers in the Rule 5 draft. Do we think we could lose one or both of these guys like we did Tyler Wells?

    I'm for winning one game at a time and one series at a time. Thus, I have Ober in the pen for the first series. If the game goes extras, him pitching or his earlier innings could be what wins it. He's one of our 10 best pitchers. Game 1 of the next series can be figured out when the time comes.

    I see Sabato starting in Wichita next year. The one position on the field that was poor in Cedar Rapids was 1B (Cavaco) so Sabato would really fit in position-wise with that group. Salas should stay in Cedar Rapids and Schobel rejoins his Cedar Rapids group by staying in Wichita.

    Just 10 of the top 100 prospects are playing in the AFL. That seems down from prior years. Am I correct? If so, any reason why?

    It looks like you are saying we could have Pena, Pena and Pena in the infield for the Twins in 2030. Just need to find one more! Announcers would love that.

    I can think of one big reason that you can't bring all of them (Stewart, Alcala, Buxton, Gordon, and Gallo) back to the Twins - you would end up DFA'ing/demoting guys who you are planning on playing in the postseason. What five moves do you want to make to bring all five back to the Twins?

    Now where do all these rehabbing limbo guys go? To Florida as they are always playing games at least on the back fields there? Stewart to the Twins I am guessing.

    I don't think Celestino is eligible to be taken in the Rule 5 draft. If he does get DFA'd, everyone gets their free chance at him.

    I disagree. One major difference - stolen bases. From 2021-2023, Martin has 68 and Celestino has 13. Remember, Celestino had major issues with throwing to the right base, hitting the cutoff and running the bases with the Twins. No clue how he did this year in St. Paul.

    Attempt to sign all of them to minor league deals. Prato is basically in the same category as Helman, making it no big deal if we lose Helman. I would like to see Bechtold as a full-time pitcher and go to Wichita to start 2024. I don't think Celestino will be on the 40 man when next season starts.

    I listened to part of the game last night. Adding together his stats and some comments on TD, parts of him are clones of Julien. He doesn't swing at those borderline pitches which gives him a lot of walks and a lot of looking third strikes. But when the pitchers bring it in there, he has the power to blast it out of the park. Easier to change him to swing more at 2 strike pitches than to stop a player who swings at anything they can reach.

    Exactly! That's why you get him up to the Twins for a couple bullpen games. If he looks good, put him as that 11th man in the pen or at least get him ready when we add a pitcher for, hopefully, round 2 of the playoffs.

    It's not going to happen. Very hard to catch the Mariners and Rangers as well, just because they have 6 game against each other and someone has to win those games.

    Ober is one of our ten best pitchers and I would have him on the playoff roster.
