  1. Gibaut, Cano, and Coulumbe would look really good in our bullpen this year. How did we misevaluate them and let all of them go very cheaply from AAA.
  2. The ultra athletic Lewis is just not in a position to use that at 3B. I would start him in CF. Martin is also on option. Many teams are pushing their rookies to MLB in trying to get that extra early draft pick. Lewis being injured for half the year probably cost us that this year. That's where, combined with a likely decrease in income, you see Lee and/or Martin up at the start of 2024, or very soon into the season. Those high picks are so valuable.
  3. Great article. I just disagree on Ober and think he will be on the playoff roster. Dick Bremer even mentioned that the Twins were planning on having him in the bullpen in the playoffs.
  4. I saw that the Kernels were down 6-5 going to the 9th and clicked to watch the game action box score (or whatever you call it). McCusker hits the 3 run homer to put them ahead (very nice season for McCusker, playing in two different levels). Then Emma Rodriguez hits another homer. He really has power but is mostly a BB, SO, and HR type. That's okay if he can reduce his SO's as his power is tremendous.
  5. And he's not done yet. The Twins wouldn't be including him on the 40 man if he was.
  6. Raya is dominant in his last couple starts. Congrats to Cedar Rapids winning the series. Such a good team this year.
  7. Good job. I've got Ober in place of Funderburk and Stevenson in place of Buxton.
  8. List the 9 healthy hitters you would put in the lineup day after day if you were the Twins manager, against both rh's and lh's.
  9. People who hate Rocco will remember every move that doesn't work and none that do work. People who love Rocco will do the reverse. Rocco has made a lot of good moves and bad moves this year. I don't like when he pinch hits before the 6th inning unless the other teams bullpen is all right-handed by then. Last year, people complained it was all Rocco's fault for pulling pitchers. This year almost nobody (there are a few, I know) gives Rocco praise for the Twins being in the upper tier of innings thrown by starting pitchers. Rocco's okay, about middle of the road in a game in which the manager doesn't affect the outcome that much IMO.
  10. Wow, thanks for the post June #'s on SWR. In a hitter's league, an ERA under 3.00 for three months is impressive. Maybe we were too down on him.
  11. He's been on the IL for awhile with a forearm strain (Scherzer has that and appears done for the year). I don't think we'll see him back this year. Stewart, yes. Henriquez shouldn't make it on the 40 man roster through the winter and could be dropped now. Alcala, no. We won't see him with the Twins this year. Gordon, no. There's isn't room on the roster. In the playoffs, you need a speed guy (and late defense) on the bench. If we are starting Castro in the first round, I can see Stephenson being that guy. It took one pitch against a lh today for him to steal second base in the 9th. Paddack is the interesting one to get back on the 40 man if Stewart is also coming back. @Jocko87 said he was throwing well for two innings before getting tired. Maybe call Moran up and put him on the IL-60 just before you call up Stewart? I wouldn't mind getting rid of Floro but the Twins seem to like him more than many of us on TD.
  12. Alcala couldn't complete an inning last night. I am counting him out. Paddack is getting through 4 innings. Scary to put him on a playoff roster but for the end of our pen it may not be any scarier than what we already have on some night.
  13. Raya has actually been in AA for awhile. And I do think the Twins plan on Paddack to be in the rotation next year. He is ahead of where Maeda was a year ago.
  14. I believe if we keep Kepler, Larnach will be gone. But if we trade Kepler, Larnach gets his chance (again) to prove that he can hit MLB pitchers breaking balls. I would trade Kepler as his hitting wasn't good for 3.5 years before being great the last half of this season. Certainly can see why many would disagree with me on that and think Kepler has found something that will carry over to 2024. If he goes 0fer in the playoffs, many people will turn on Kepler. If he does great in the playoffs, he will be with the Twins in 2024. Interesting off season decision for the Twins.
  15. I agree but it doesn't appear that the casual fans are coming to the park. Not getting 20,000 fans to a game against another playoff team (Tampa) when our team is heading to the playoffs isn't encouraging. It could affect our team next year, maybe not being able to afford a Polanco and instead playing 1st or 2nd year players.
  16. I see much of that Cedar Rapids starting rotation in Wichita next year. They are that good. AA will be the test for them though as some will likely struggle there.
  17. Alcala pulled before the inning was up. He's not going to make back to the Twins this year. Paddack sure would be an unknown to have on a playoff roster but maybe in the back of the pen as he is getting 4 innings in now.
  18. If Castro starts in the playoffs, teams always have one guy who is a great base stealer on the bench. Preferably, that player is great on defense as well. Stephenson fits this description. (I'm thinking the Twins start Castro in LF and Taylor in CF in this scenario). As others have said, we will have less pitchers on the roster for Round 1. Teams also like that chance of a HR off the bench. That would be Wallner, and NOT Gallo.
  19. Larnach isn't an infielder by the way. And neither is Wallner.
  20. Agreed. You trade him because he has too many miles on his legs (injuries don't go away in your 30's, they normally increase) and Brooks Lee is coming to be the Rookie of the Year in 2024.
  21. Yes, still a prospect but he has to do a lot of things great. I compare him to Stephenson but not as fast and I don't think he's a center fielder. So he doesn't have a couple things that make it easier to make it to MLB.
  22. Even before this injury, Gordon was a half step slower in stealing than Taylor and Castro, Stevenson and Martin. That makes him less likely to make a playoff roster.
  23. Would you trust Alcala in the playoffs if he's healthy? With so little time, I wouldn't. Stewart, since he was pitching so well this year, I'm taking my chances with him.
  24. Nice to see Ober pitch so well. I'm thinking he's up with the Twins within a week. Why waste his pitches in St. Paul?
  25. Raya closing out the year well. Hopefully he has another game but Wichita just gave up a 3 game lead this week.
