  1. I'm not concerned. If we are up by 2 runs, a closer can challenge a hitter and give up a HR. Still get 3 outs and you win. Just don't issue lead off walks and everything will be fine (the next thing we'll see on TD is not Pagan over Jax but Pagan over Duran as the closer - what is the world coming to!).
  2. Agreed. The Twins only exercise the option if another team wants him in a trade. The Twins missed the boat on trading high on Polanco with numerous guys coming up in the minors (Julien, Steer, Martin, etc.). Great player whose body has taken a toll.
  3. Hey Doc, I know you are a big proponent of Helman as well. What are your thoughts of Prato vs Helman next year making it to the Twins, assuming both are healthy? Martin is probably in this super utility mix as well with Castro already on the Twins. Gordon will probably be gone next spring IMO.
  4. Agreed. He has been brutal quite often and has always survived with the excuse that he is "young." Bring up someone who actually pitches well for more than 8 innings, Funderburk, and DFA Henriquez. His ERA has been 4.71, 5.66, and 5.44 the last three years, with a ever-rising WHIP that is 1.67 this year. Can't believe anyone wants to call him up now because he pitched 8 good innings.
  5. Wow, most everyone has given up on Noah Miller as a top 20 prospect. He is our best fielding SS in the minors, very young, and has begun to hit with some power (5 homers since July 8) at Cedar Rapids.

  7. But Polanco has been even worse than Julien at 2B this year. He just doesn't move side-to-side like he used to.
  8. Not everyone agrees as it was posted yesterday on TD that one national site has the Twins ranked #11 out of the 30 teams for prospects.
  9. Winokur is really off to a fantastic start. I expected more early struggles with the bat from him.
  10. Wow, add this to the Rays going from a team that hardly lost any games at the beginning of the year to injuries and many more losses now. Rough turn-around.
  11. Wow, we have some young starters on that Wichita staff! And Danny DeAndrade certainly is young for Fort Myers. Nice to see Festa pitching well today.
  12. Jax. Still think the more important the situation is, the worse Pagan pitches (but he has done a lot of good this year).Pagan has two blown saves in his last 7 appearances.
  13. Hate to see E-Rod crashing into the wall. Hope it's nothing. The Twins need to have better training on how to (or not to) crash into walls. Maybe hire a hockey guy that teaches how to (and not to) take checks.
  14. I'm going to disagree a little. He has not been very good at SS but I think he can do well at 2B, LF and CF. Much more athletic than Julien. Not a whole lot of history because the Twins had him at SS for so long. His eye at the plate seems to be about as good as anyone in our minor league system (as Julien has graduated). Martin has great speed and I believe he will steal bases much like Castro does. A lot of people complain (rightly so) about how much the Twins strike out. Here's someone that puts the ball in play.
  15. I love Castro as a bench player. Martin has the potential to be better. He's a great base stealer and will get on base more. He just has to be able to hit enough.
  16. Shuffield with another HR as he is trying to lock up player of the week honors, and it was a game winner.
  17. On the radio, Atteberry called Gallo hitting the HR because Faedo doesn't throw a change up or split. Great call!
  18. Let Lee get used to AAA before calling him up with a .111 batting average. I'm just saying to be patient with Lee.
  19. Alcala to the 60 day or DFA Henriquez (the "he's young" talk has gotten "old").
  20. Chris Williams is the obvious candidate. If he can't get called up now as the RH hitting 1B, when would he ever get called up (though he was in a 5 for 36 slump before last night's game when he went 2 for 4 with a HR).
  21. 59 stolen bases for Julien the past two years in total. He's not slow so I don't understand how he's not better on D.
  22. Martin, after a slow start returning from injury, is on a 13 for 30 streak with 8 walks and 5 SB's dating back into July. There was a question about his position in MLB. He would be a utility guy, playing mostly CF, LF, and 2B. If we are keeping Lewis at 3B, Martin really should get a shot in CF.
  23. For each, who are taking off the 26 and 40 man rosters? Also, Williams is very streaky and he is currently on a 5 for 36 streak with 13 SO's.
  24. Not sure how bad Solano's injury is and the Twins are thin at 1B. Anyone hear anything about a possible Kirilloff return? If not soon, this could be Chris Williams chance to show what he's got.
  25. I'm thinking we will get to find out who is correct this winter. I certainly hope he doesn't get picked. Plus, I would have taken Helman last year in the Rule 5 draft over Kiersey this year with Helman's super utility, power and speed combo. I do think that Funderburk will need to be added or he will get selected.
