  1. Sure was hoping he would flourish in St. Paul this year. Batting .245 with only 2 homers with the Saints makes me think he is a worse version of Taylor, much worse on the bases. I would rather have Stevenson at this point, even though he's a little older. I'm not even sure he stays on the 40 man roster through the winter at this point. The last two months should point the Twins in the right direction on him.
  2. No. Cruz has no managerial experience. I want Brian Dinkleman, the manager of the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Whether he gets a bunch of top young prospects, or older non-top 20 players(and has players leaving for Wichita and coming from Fort Myers), he has his teams winning every year and most of the players seem to improve there over time. An outside the box candidate maybe but teamed up with a veteran bench coach, that's my choice.
  3. Anyone know why Festa is getting the Raya treatment lately (and it seems some other starters are also throwing less pitches per game now)? 3 great innings, 50 pitches and he is done. Seems like last year he was throwing 5 or 6 innings at this time of year. Equally great job by Bentley and Grace in relief though.
  4. You can say the exact same thing about veterans playing like they did last year. The Twins are a good example - if our stars and big money players hit like they have in the past, we would have a big lead in the Central. And Julien is playing exactly like he did in the minors, both hitting and fielding (SSS so far).
  5. If every player and agent tells the Twins where they should play, this is now the NBA. What's next, demanding they bat 1st in the batting lineup? I'm only fine with the agent demand for 2023 and not beyond. That's my rant. With Buxton at DH, Lewis, Correa, Lee and Kirilloff in the infield, what do you with Julien? Someone good has to play CF. Lewis and Buxton qualify. Martin playing like he did in the Arizona Fall League would as well. Stevenson and Keirsey are long shots. The Twins are so much better with either Lewis or Buxton in CF.
  6. Sometimes we just think we have a logjam and then suddenly we end up with no logs. We traded Steer as Miranda was having a great rookie year plus Lewis was coming back. Suddenly Miranda can't hit for power (shoulder?) and Lewis is on the IL and Steer is tearing up the league. For this year, I want Julien in the lineup 6 days out of 7, even against LH's (don't teach our young guys that they can only hit RH's). 2B or DH are the only two spots right now that Julien can play. He would need some work at 1B to play there and will not be at 3B or LF. For 2024, I just don't see Polanco on the Twins. Even if we move Lewis to CF, we still have Lee (or a Miranda comeback) at 3B, Correa at SS, Julien/Lee/Martin at 2B, with Castro and Farmer backing up everything (or playing until Lee is ready). All of this is based upon a certain someone still playing every day at DH.
  7. One of the most disappointing players this year. For the last month, he is hitting below the Mendoza line. At this time, the only reason he would get called up ahead of Stevenson is because he is actually on the 40 man roster.
  8. When Polanco comes back, the roster and lineup get very interesting. There should now be zero chance that Julien goes back to St. Paul.
  9. Brooks Lee apparently not happy about not being invited to the Futures Game as he is on fire since then. E-Rod great clutch hit and multi-hit game tonight.

  11. Yake is definitely like Shuffield last year. They need a guy who mostly comes off the bench, a warm body. I believe Yake was on the Saints roster last year when a player was needed for the short-term.
  12. Great news! That is a nice infield with Schobel, Lee and Severino if Sabato could do anything.
  13. Who would have guessed that Kepler would ground out to 2B. Has he ever done that before............
  14. Not a serious answer but if you really want to be negative - have to let Wallner cool off so when he is played, he doesn't show up Gallo and Kepler.
  15. "His momentary outbursts of offense – a few mile-long home runs bunched together in a brief span – are surrounded by oceans of unproductive PAs at the heart of the lineup. It's not a tenable situation." Wasn't this exact quote made last year, for Miguel Sano???
  16. Polanco to 2B, Julien to DH, Buxton to IL. Radio announcers said that Buxton just doesn't look right out there. When he plays hurt, he turns into the 3 outcome batter, BB, SO, or HR. Since he's swinging at balls and letting strikes go, it is a lot of SO's lately. Let Buxton get healthy for the stretch run and injuries will probably let us figure out things by the time he is ready to play again.
  17. @Brock Beauchamp It also told me I had already voted but I hadn't yet. Did my votes make it? Thanks.
  18. I don't think the Twins see Prato as a prospect. He hit .171 in more at bats in Wichita this year. Very much like Shuffield last year, they just move him to wherever they need him. Like Shuffield, he oddly goes and hits way better at AAA than he did at the lower level. Still think the Twins move him down if they need roster space with the Saints rather than up to the Twins when a utility guy is needed.
  19. Yea, and it feels like Gallo's homers win games and aren't in garbage time (I didn't actually check it out).
  20. McCusker was signed about the time Ortega got moved up and seems to have taken his place as the star hitter with Fort Myers.
  21. Any word on Schobel or anyone else moving up a level during this break?
  22. Maybe the Twins think they really have someone in the minors between Camargo, Cossetti, and Cardenas and maybe Olivar.
  23. That was clearly said in April by Rocco on the pregame radio show for the Twins. That changed in May to "we will reevaluate in June." So the date was moved back and terminology changed from scheduled to reevaluated. So plans have changed or not improved as expected early in the season.
