  1. Great report. Poor Wichita - many of their good players moved to St. Paul and they no longer get mentioned in the article.
  2. Radio announcers said he stayed in the dugout after being taken out and wasn't getting medical attention.
  3. I love Kiersey but he's not being added to the 40 man this winter. Teams take mostly pitchers in the Rule 5 draft and certainly not "old" hitters.
  4. Anderson reportedly had already been warned by the umpire before this incident. Plus, he came out of the dugout a 2nd time after being restrained by a teammate. Maybe past history is also a factor.
  5. But Lewis, Martin and Prato have all played OF as well.
  6. Dalton Shuffield gets no respect. He goes wherever the Twins need a warm body. Last year, it was A, A+, and AAA. With the Saints he batted .271, with 3 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 homers. His reward.................back down to A ball with a little time in the FCL and A+. Brooks Lee gets called up and Shuffield is needed at AA Wichita. 2 home runs and a walk yesterday and they are treating him like Barry Bonds. 3 walks today and the one time they pitched to him he hit a home run. He now has an OPS of 2.317 with Wichita.
  7. Agreed. Keuchel is a professional nibbler, meaning he has to have control so he can work around the edges of the strike zone. I generally don't like pitchers who nibble but that is the only way he can get it done. With Keuchel pitching, give me the A rated infield defense and DH Julien.
  8. Julien and Wallner really make the hitting lineup more dangerous. Even though we don't have an intentional walk before the 9th inning, Julien was being pitched around to get to Correa, who then knocked two runs in. Julien really should be the DH though. His fielding gives up runs. Not sure 1B is the answer either the way he missed that ball today. Twins need him though. Sacrifice the D for 7 innings to get ahead right now if he's not the DH.
  9. He can and does quite a bit. How well, I don't know. He is streaky with the bat. Add in major league pitching, he may look like a RH Gallo at times. But I would take that chance unless Kirilloff is coming back soon.
  10. If you look at his minor league stats, he has always pitched like this. Looks great at times but loses the strike zone and you can't trust him. But I would try changing the arm angle before we just trade him away this winter. With his stuff, he can be great if he can throw strikes.
  11. I saw one report that Anderson was mouthing off to one of the young Guardians earlier in the game so Ramirez may have partially been standing up for him when this started, as the team leader.
  12. Cedar Rapids is in the playoffs and the Twins usually stack those teams as much as possible by bringing a player or two up in September. Did it with Lee last year for Wichita. Having said that, if Salas is coming back to the Wind Surge from the development list and FCL stint there isn't much room between Miller, Ortega, Ross, and Salas at 2B, 3B and SS. Of course, we should just move Cavaco out of the way at 1B and give the rest of the guys more playing time.
  13. That is a complaint of mine about this front office. Why didn't we develop a left-handed hitting 1B this year - Wallner or Larnach - when Gallo was struggling. If Gallo gets hurt (don't think he will get DFA'd until Kirilloff comes back - and what is the update on him?), are we really going with Solano and Farmer at 1B all the time?
  14. Anderson certainly has a mouth, saying several things about the Twins in the past like they are "weak."
  15. And so many on TD wanted to get rid of Maeda at various points this year. He's looking like the Cy Young candidate from a couple years ago right now. It takes awhile for the older guys to fully recover from TJ surgery.
  16. Cano bugs me even more. Orioles changed his arm angle and suddenly he is a hard throwing reliever who throws strikes in the majors.
  17. Great idea but only the Columbus pitcher can be traded after the trade deadline. Gallo would be ineligible to be traded.
  18. Haven't needed him this year but I don't think the odds are great that our catchers won't get injured for two straight years. So Camargo could be needed as well. Shows how far Celestino has fallen as he can't even get mentioned in this group.
  19. Nice for Lee and Keirsey to get their first hit in AAA. Wichita wasn't ready to play. Raya was terrible and his defense makes 4 errors in the 1st inning. Ethridge has been pitching really well for Fort Myers.
  20. Correa, and to some extent, Buxton. If they are performing anywhere near normal, this team is ahead of the division by 7 games. I blame the FO for the lack of bullpen depth and being wrong about Gallo. Good trades/signings of Farmer, Castro, Taylor and Solano. Excellent starting pitching. I blame Rocco for the games he is pulling hitters in the 4th inning or earlier, especially when they are Julien and Kirilloff. Batting coaches don't seem to be helping the hitters improve. The Twins are exceeding my expectations and there is a balanced blame to go around for not being better, but the big money hitters not doing their job is where I have to lay the most blame.
  21. Great day with Jenkins playing and several promotions. Do have to laugh though as we are a little overly excited and now posting foul home runs!
  22. Julien will not be playing LF. Wallner is a gold glover compared to Julien in LF. Much better hitting lineup is Lee at 3B, Julien at 2B, and Lewis in CF. A bench of Taylor, Castro and Farmer is really good (not sure Taylor's coming back though). Of course, we all agree, that the best lineup is Buxton in CF and Julien at DH.
  23. Great! But terrible for the poor Wind Surge fans with all the guys they've lost and they gained Yake, Shuffield, and Garry (no Rosario or E-Rod, yikes!).
  24. I thought the draft pick incentive was totally tied to the Rookie of the Year and not being on the Twins roster at the start of the year and teams start them on the roster to give them a better chance at Rookie of the Year but I must be wrong.
