Wow, so many good things happened with our minor league teams last night. E-Rod having a super game, showing why we must add him to the 40 man roster this winter. Funderburk - he might be pitching for the Twins if he was on the 40 man roster (if the Twins are going to put on this winter, why not go ahead and do it now?).

I didn't check all of them but Wichita ends September 17th, which is about the time I think A ball ends. AAA goes longer towards the end of September and I think the theory is that players needed to be called up would still be playing. Making the playoffs like Cedar Rapids has done extends their season.

Exactly what I was going to say. Promote Spears! Miranda was terrible when he went down and he kept improving until he was called back up. Martin got a very late start and started slow, but has also been improving of late.

Rodriguez would be selected with the 1st pick. The Royals or whoever is the worst team would simply play one player short with Rodriguez sitting on the bench most of the time (lots of batting practice for him for one year). Then, he might be back in the minors in 2025. It certainly wouldn't be the best thing for Rodriguez or the Twins.

Keuchel Opts out of Contract, How Will the Twins Respond?
FlyingFinn replied to Althebum82's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I would bring Kuechel up and have him as the long man in the bullpen. He may not pitch for two weeks but then he will eat up innings in a game where we are getting blown out and save our pen for the next day. Also, a younger guy can get more regular work in with the Saints. -
I believe Gallo will be cut when Kirilloff returns BUT Larnach will not be called up unless there is an injury. Lewis will be coming back and Wallner is playing as well as any other Twin recently, as we have returned to not scoring much.

I don't agree as I see him as a player always bringing his best every day. Hitting .171 can end your career. He was called up as a warm body to fill a hole with the Saints and he has played super since coming to the Saints. But compare him to a healthy Helman (using last year's stats of 20 homers and 40 SB's) and I think even Helman is ahead of him in power and speed.

Why not include Severino with Lee in getting called up to the Saints. Julien's not going back down and Miranda's shoulder is, who knows as everything has been silent on him unless I missed something. There's room on the Saints for the both of them.

A New Position for Royce Lewis?
FlyingFinn replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I see a rotation between 2B, 3B and DH this year until we get close to the playoffs. Then, we get really good on D - Buxton in CF, Lewis at 3B, Polanco at 2B and Julien at DH. Great D and the best hitting lineup we can get, with Taylor as a defensive sub in LF.- 67 replies

Austin Martin with a very good night. Ernie Yake as well but I'm thinking his reward will be to go down to Wichita when Brooks Lee joins the Saints on Tuesday.

Game Thread: Twins (Gray) @ Royals (Singer), 7/28/23 @ 7:10 CT
FlyingFinn replied to wsnydes's topic in Archived Game Threads
If Wallner's out in RF, would we have said he played bad defense and should have caught that one. -
Raya would be that elite arm IMO. The Twins are holding his pitch count down but he's moving up levels at a young age.

Fun! And you get to see one of Brooks Lee's last four games in Wichita from what Ted is saying.

Yea, I was talking about last year when he was mostly at SS at Wichita like Lee is now.

Many more chances to work on your fielding at SS vs 3B. Positions are very similar. With Austin Martin, if the Twins plan was to play him in the OF, there I would agree, get him off SS and working in the OF. You need to practice out there so you don't pull a Royce Lewis and crash into the fence and hurt yourself.

He and Cossetti seem to be two of the best catchers in that league right now.

Not much more Stevenson can do to make it back to the majors and get another shot. Not being on the 40 man roster hurts him more than anything right now.

Funny you should say.... Thielbar pitched a scoreless inning for the Saints tonight. Now, where is Stewart? Martin pulled early tonight in St. Paul. Don't think we are calling him up. Did we trade him for a relief pitcher? Probably not.

Exactly, and himself. Whose names were on various sites all day - Jenkins and Boras. Boras tells the Twins prior to the draft, we need to get paid over slot and we will sign on the last day. The Twins agreed. No harm to the Twins, except some anxious fans. Now, the press is Boras got overslot for his guy and Jenkins got much more pub than Clark.

Josh Hader in Round 19. Hard to find more recent all-stars as they are still working their way through the systems or just started in the majors. It's rare though. Proves that having 62 round drafts in the past was a really dumb idea. I like the picks just because if something happens with your top 5 picks between the draft and signing, you can all of a sudden offer these high schools, who would have been taken in the 2nd or 3rd round, enough money to sign.
