  1. I think the Twins will pitch Ryan in game #1 but I would go Ober, Lopez, Gray, Ryan, Lopez.
  2. That was some good coaching and execution on the pickoff play at 2B. Jeffers said on the radio that it was his call to make. Edit: Gray now talking postgame. Correa told Jeffers and Gray after the 1st inning that the runners on 2B can't hear the third base coach and that the pickoff play could work at some point in the game. Great leader, smart.
  3. Provus said it hit the net before Kirilloff had a chance at it.
  4. Winning in two games would also give Lewis two days off to rest his hamstring more. Obviously, we need him as healthy as possible. Gray goes in game #2.
  5. Correa certainly looked healthier than I remember as he quickly got to the ball when he saw it get by Polanco. And he didn't seem to hurt anything on the twisting throw to home. Correa was covering 2B as I believe Julien was playing a strong pull position on the LH hitter so I'm not going to fault him for where he started out.
  6. Great news - Correa, Lewis and Taylor all looked really healthy today. I realize you go all out in the playoffs even if they're hurting. Polanco didn't look so healthy.
  7. Doesn't look healthy to me. Castro at 3B maybe. Pinch hit Polanco in a clutch situation. That's when he's great.
  8. Gausman that much worse against LH's. Could we see Castro in CF instead of MAT........
  9. Who are you benching - Polanco or Julien? I would have Polanco at 3B and Julien at 2B if Lewis has to DH.
  10. It was all about Stevenson's base stealing, speed and defense. It's at a high enough level to consider a spot on a playoff roster. I do think the Twins will DFA him this winter but hope to have him back at AAA next year in hopes to repeat this in 2024.
  11. Twins pregame - Brooks Lee told the Twins player development head that the "nastiest" pitcher he faced in college was Cory Lewis. Interesting.
  12. Oh, I hadn't heard that last part. Figured that would happen this winter anyway. MLB must not investigate phantom injuries either.
  13. Twins pre-game - Polanco and Farmer are going to be assistant managers today. They will listen in on every decision by Rocco and Tingler. They may or may not participate in those discussions.
  14. Rocco said exactly this on the post game show. The length he went in this game allows Maeda to continue to be stretched out and pitch either as a starter or reliever.
  15. For people who don't like the Yankees. They are playing the Royals tonight. Carlos Rodon gave up 6 hits and 2 walks............and never recorded an out. 8 earned runs, a reliever is in and still there isn't an out.
  16. I think it puts Julien at 2B and Polanco at 3B vs. RH's. Not so good for our defense.
  17. I would say yes. If Lewis plays, he may need a pinch runner as well. If Lewis doesn't play, there's another roster spot open.
  18. Severino vs. Miranda - Miranda hits for better average and strikes out a lot less. Severino has more power. I rate their defense about equal. With a healthy roster (I know that never happens), not sure where either of them play for the Twins. The questions to be answered - was 2023's bad season all because of Miranda's shoulder issue in the spring and will Severino ever cut down on his massive amount of SO's?
  19. I can't open that attachment but MLBtraderumors.com has Neal saying Lewis is likely to play DH in the wild card series. That really limits Buxton.
  20. Reports seem to have Lewis as DH in the wild card series. That really weakens our infield defense to get both Polanco and Julien's bats in the lineup.
  21. Interesting comments by Provus and Gladden about Trevor Larnach on the post game show. The Twins tried to change him from going to all fields to be being mostly a pull hitter and it messed him up. Is it just me, or do the Twins try change too many great hitters in the minors (Austin Martin) and it turns out to flop?
  22. Camargo should be added to the 40 man this winter. I don't see Helman or Prato being added though. The Twins can probably afford to lose one (would rather not) but must not lose both. I see them as fighting for the exact same position. I like to compare Helman's injury free season from last year to Prato's season this year, basically at the same minor league levels. Helman - 512 AB's, 20 HR's, .258 batting average, .432 slugging, 40 SB's. Prato - 361 AB's, 12 HR's, .255 batting average, .435 slugging, 18 SB's. Very comparable. Making the AB's even, gets the #'s pretty close. Helman probably the better base stealer. Prato is two years younger, an advantage for him. Defensively, Helman plays everywhere except catcher. Prato does not play CF and didn't play SS with the Saints. Very slight advantage overall to Helman for me. Castro blocks both Prato and Helman though IMO.
  23. I think it does relate to Ober because there is a greater likelihood of a long game as there isn't a ghost runner.
  24. I believe Regi Grace is Rule 5 eligible. I didn't look but being Miguel Rodriguez has been with the Twins for awhile, he may be as well. I don't see the Twins adding them to the 40 man roster. Teams like pitchers in the Rule 5 draft. Do we think we could lose one or both of these guys like we did Tyler Wells?
