    I did miss that, but I when I saw Palacios I thought you’d include Lewis. Anyways, I wouldn’t be surprised if we sign a SS on another one year deal and leave room for Lewis to take over full time in 2023.

    Sano has been significantly better than Kirilloff? They have virtually the same OBP and Sano's OPS is about 20 points higher. That's not to mention RISP situations: Sano: .187/.272 (.722 OPS) Kirilloff: .310/.349 (.815 OPS) And that's not mentioning the fact that Sano was practically demoted to a platoon in June, which coincidentally sparked his hot streak. Kirilloff was a rookie playing every day against most lefties. It's nice that Sano is hitting better now, but the first 3 months counted, and he was actively hurting the team. Fangraphs has him as a slightly below replacement level player this season. WPA doesn't like him either - I do like using the OPS, but it exaggerates the value of a power-only hitter.

    We’re not as bad as we thought... but good is a stretch. Turns out being rid of Shoemaker, Happ, and Robles in favor of others helped the team improve. Who woulda thunk?

    I think Molitor was OK as a manager... yeah he was a great player, but the team played considerably better after his firing and he hasn’t garnered a single interview for a manager role with another team. His bullpen usage was brutal at times - I know Rocco isn’t good at that either, but that doesn’t excuse Paul. He was also the manager of the total system failure team (that had some expectations, since 2015 went well). Personally I don’t believe managers make a big impact on W/Ls, but I don’t see what gave Paul a leg up on other managers.

    I am high on Sands and Steer. Urbina is doing alright for a 19 year old at A. Rooker needs more ABs, but I don’t like his chances.

    I don't like the general idea that "2019 was a fluke". We played 165 games, that's not a small sample! Don't give me the juiced ball excuse. Every team in baseball had to grapple with it, including our pitchers. We did beat up on the dregs of the league and the AL Central (like any good team should), and looking by record, only 2 teams beat the Twins more than they did by 1 game. Meaning: Vs Yankees: 2-4 (plus 0-3 in playoffs) Vs Mets: 1-3 All other < .500 results were by a single game, e.g. Vs Indians 9-10 The Twins held their own against every other team in baseball except for the Yankees, and one series against the Mets. You can say the 2019 Twins were a "good not great" team, sure. But don't hand-wave the entire season away just because 2021 sucks (and it does). On another note, the complete lack of pitching coming from the minors is concerning. There are a lot of arms coming, but so many obstacles are blocking their way (mainly injuries, plus the pandemic) - and we had better hope a lockout doesn't happen in 2022. That'd throw out another season where our minor league pitching desperately needs. After 2021 I am in the neutral area, like many others here. I haven't lost faith in the FO, but quite a bit of the goodwill they've built up has been torched by this season, and a lack of doing anything in the playoffs in 2019 & 2020. While I don't expect them to go on a WS run in 2022, if this team is not developing prospects better and failing to right the wrongs of 2021, we will need to blow things up... at least in management.

    He's had a pretty lengthy injury history, wouldn't that explain a lot of it?

    If they're going to give extended auditions, then it had better be to the legitimate prospects like Cano and Moran and no to the wavier wire heap pickups like Burrows. I'm fine with trying waiver claims out, but I don't think we should waste many innings on these guys. The Tigers knew what they were doing, DFA'ing Burrows, even though he still had 2 option years left. We don't have a pitching staff that can magically turn these guys into something valuable, so no point in wasting time polishing a... you know what.

    I believe Falvine recently said that Royce Lewis is definitely a SS. I expect they will give him every opportunity to play there and see how his ACL recovers.

    Yikes. We went from using Wisler in openers last year (1.00 ERA and now Rays' closer), now to Burrows. Ugh.

    Ryan deserves a shot... and I wouldn't mind seeing Strotman. Perhaps they could piggy-back Strotman with Ober to cover in the innings, or something like that. It should go without saying I have no interest in seeing Shepherd or Albers pitching here.

    Emmanuel Rodriguez has hit 5 HRs in his first 60 PAs in the minors... not bad for an 18 year old. As for Palacios, I think it will come down to whether the FO thinks he can handle SS well enough. If he can, he should be protected and should see some time in AAA soon.

    Yeah, I agree. I think Julien and Palacios will make it up at some point, and I'm bullish on Varland.

    Outside of Duffey and Thielbar, I’d legitimately take the AAA bullpen over the MLB one. Moran should be up now, Hamilton too.

    I do think you need to put the player’s whole minor league career into perspective, as Miranda didn’t hit all that well in the low minors. I could see people calling his 2021 season an outlier if his career doesn’t go well.

    I'm looking at his minor league track record, not where he was drafted. The MLB draft is notorious for being a complete crapshoot, and 4th rounders flame out all the time. It is one thing if the likes of Barnes and Jax fail, it is another if guys like Winder and Balazovic do too. If that happens, I will be panicking along with the masses.
