  1. Thomas or Pham seem to be the only fits here. I would lean towards Pham at this point as a rental and try to package Raley in that deal. One would suspect that’s the move. I can’t see them getting Thomas at this point from Falveys comments and I wouldn’t give up what the nationals probably want for him either.
  2. “They should maximize their chances with measured aggression on deadline day.” agreed! Good article.
  3. What would be even worse is if the buying Twins lost the division to the clearly selling Guardians.
  4. Well, Wallner is gonna stay in place for now with the injury to Kiriloff. Also, he’s one of their best hitters at the moment. They are not moving any big name prospects. Falvey has said that they will make “baseball” moves. A LH relief pitcher and a RH bat. That’s what they need and all reports are that’s what they are shopping for. If they can get Raley and Pham for Larnach you make that trade. It helps the team. It doesn’t move the needle much but it helps tremendously short term while not sacrificing much long term.
  5. I agree totally! Probably would have had to part ways with another big prospect on top of what they gave for Mahle though. Marte was a top 10-20 prospect last year so put in place another one of the twins top guys from last year. Hindsight 20/20.
  6. I would trade Wallner and Larnach along with any other prospects not named Lee just to not have to watch Gallo strike out every 30 AB’s this year.
  7. It sucks that those 2 prospects are doing good in light of what happened to Mahle but who were the twins supposed to get? Who were they supposed to trade? What prospects would everyone here have traded? SP’s are expensive and if they would have done nothing everyone here would have been saying the opposite. “Why didn’t they get a SP?” Yeah they lost the trade. Lots of teams lose trades. This dead horse isn’t rideable any longer. Can we put the stick down yet?
  8. On G&G they were talking about Boras wanting to make the rounds and possibly trying to squeeze on the 5% overage allowance. Seems like something Boras would do but even then. Sign the kid. The most respected scout in twins history gave him an 8. You go over for that and get him to Florida!
  9. If Ryan gets tradedthen we might as well shop the whole team. Fire Falvine and the whole coaching staff. Oh, also might as well sell the team while they’re at it. After that we’ll all pick a new favorite team and we can revisit being a Twins fan in 4-6 years. If we haven’t already traded Walker Jenkins yet that is.
  10. Wow! Nice scouting report! Definitely could be a steal for sure. He seems to slow his motion a bit on the curveball but still. Really refined if that’s him at 18. The easy velocity on the fastball and the bugs bunny action on the curveball. Wow.

  12. They always do a big spectacle for the top picks don’t they? Will probably see them at target field for a signing day and a round of BP before heading to Florida.
  13. Like when they sent down Larnach early in the season even though he was leading in RBI’s. Let’s be honest he wasn’t tearing the cover off the ball and RBI’s are what they are but still. He was driving in runs and wasn’t as putrid as Kepler and Gallo.
  14. Julien is a perfect DH candidate. Send Buxton to the IL until he can play the OF. Give Polanco 2nd back until he gets hurt again. Let him walk after the season. Lee slides into 2nd base next year. He won’t be back in time to build any value unless we can find someone similar to the Twins who like trading for damaged goods. Lol
  15. Well you’re still not following the context of the original conversation. You refuse to read previous posts while just posting your own snarky comments. So I guess I have no other choice but to explain this to you as if you’re a child walking in during the middle of a movie. Person A suggested trading anybody you could get a good deal on to play for next year instead of trying to take advantage of this year. Person B suggested that they should take advantage of this pitching staff by maybe adding 1-2 low level guys and make moves on the fringes maybe. Posing the point that we really don’t have the depth in the minors or majors to make the type of moves that this team perhaps should make if they’re going all in. Person A then suggested that they should listen on everybody and build for the future. Person B floated the idea that in order to get mlb ready prospects the team (Twins) would have to trade players that were worth something which would degrade future teams and they would be forced to tear it all down and wait on prospects. Person A and Person B came to a consensus that with the depth the team would either have to completely go for it this year or tear it down and build a better future team. I’m paraphrasing this but something like this happened. Enter Person C (you). Wanders in trying to figure out why one would trade Jeffers. Person C is confused at how this thread had come to this and instead of figuring it out chooses instead to just make comments on one small piece of the conversation calling others snarky all while being irritable themselves.
  16. This was a conversation between myself and terredactyls. So to your point there was exactly 2 people talking about this. 2 more people than you claimed there was. Follow the thread before becoming an instant expert maybe.
  17. Love!!! I said this the other day in a different thread. Bellinger is the perfect move for this team! Reverse split LH bat. Power. Can play multiple positions. Former MVP. Youngish. Rental. Checks all the boxes and can probably be had for a prospect or 2 that’s not in your top 5-10. Bellinger and a LH reliever and let it ride. About all we can do
  18. I’d agree wholeheartedly! Unless we’re tearing it all down or going all in we don’t have the capital to make any big moves. Improve on the fringes and cross your fingers.
  19. I agree. It’s a great year to be a seller for sure. Gotta really have faith in your scouting department to evaluate the guys to go for and even then the most sure prospects are not slam dunks in the end. I’m not sure the FO is willing to put their jobs on the line at this point and pin everything on next year when you have this pitching staff. Also, second half of the year may not be pretty for this pitching staff when a lot of these guys have never thrown that many innings. I think they should plan on next year but that’s putting a lot of faith on next year is all I’m saying, and I don’t see Falvine doing that.
  20. They weren’t very conservative last year which is why I think they keep preaching the mantra of waiting for these guys to get hot and don’t say they’re gonna be making changes. I think they’re kinda keeping they’re hand hidden a little bit and if we’re still in this spot at the deadline we see some minor moves for a bat or two. Maybe a bullpen piece. If we’re not in it and they fall flat on they’re face come august I think they’ll trade Gray and any other future FA’s after this year. That’s it though I believe. They’re not rebuilding and they’re not trading any pitchers other than Gray.
  21. So trade our pitchers for prospects? Trade Kiriloff, Kepler, Solano, Castro, and Jeffers for prospects and hope in 2-3 years? Those guys and our pitchers are all I see that anybody would give us anything for. I might be for that if we won 50% of those trades over the long term. Gotta sell that plan to the season ticket holders though.
  22. Are we just gonna constantly wait for prospects? I get what you’re saying but when you have an elite pitching staff that’s what carry’s you in the playoffs. Trust me I get it. This isn’t close to a juggernaut team. If we had 2 more elite hitters in this lineup then that would be another story. But where are we getting those pieces at as far as prospect returns that will be ready next year? How do we get those returns? Who in this organization are we trading to become a monster team next year? This isn’t MLB The Show or OOTP where you just trade everybody for anybody. There’s so much more that goes into a team than what you see on TV. I’d love to build the ‘98 Yankees but we don’t have the capital in the majors or minors to even come close. So we blow it up and wait 5 years to MAYBE have a juggernaut team? I get it I really do. It’s so very frustrating to watch this team but this is such a sad and tired reductionist statement that gets said here too much. How about we stop beating this dead horse. Throw it in the hole, sprinkle some dirt and say some words. After that let’s come up with some constructive ways to improve this year and not waste this pitching staff.
  23. An ugly win for sure but a win. Buxton does look lost. I believe what someone else here said. DL him and let Julien hit. He’s the hot hand of late. Better at bats of late it seemed like. Are we in agreement that Correa has come around? He’s getting hits. He’s not red hot but he doesn’t look lost like a lot of others. Only problem is he’s batting lead off and no one else is hitting. We’re going to get to a point here where we need 2 more guys to hit behind him. Kiriloff is cold and not barreling it up. The Oakland pitcher was terrible and we missed opportunities once again. This lineup cannot rely on Castro anymore. He was hot but has gone cold it seems lately. Gallo delivered tonight but he’s due to go 0-15 with 12 K’s until the next one. Maeda struggled but the bullpen picked him up. Are we gonna wait 2 weeks to go get another professional hitter? Probably gonna be a up and down 2 weeks. First game back. Looked a bit better but we NEED one more guy. When the FO realizes this it may be too late.

    2nd half moves

I get all that and it would be nice to get something for him for sure. I think the book has been written and 3rd time is the charm. Everybody sees what he has become and I just don’t see anyone wanting him at this point. We can’t wait 2 more weeks just to get a prospect. We need to do something now. DFA him. Wash your hands and go forward.

    2nd half moves

DFA Gallo. Package Kepler and a few prospects together that help the cubs for Bellinger who happens to have reverse splits which would be a huge difference from Kepler. Call up Wallner and Larnach. Play them somewhere everyday rotating with Kiriloff, Bellinger, MAT. If they go cold bring in Austin Martin. Keep rotating guys if they’re not hitting. If they are keep them in. Simple. Get a shutdown LH for the bullpen. Let it ride. Either get the champagne ready at the end of the season or the guillotine. Not drastic but a nudge for sure. Let’s us see a couple of guys and what they bring while also cutting out the fat.
