It’s interesting how the Twins messed around with him trying to squeeze more power out of him. If he would have been allowed to be himself would he be in CF this year instead of MAT? Everyone and there mom realized what he was when he came here. An OBP machine! I’ll take Martin without any HR’s over a guy like Gallo 100 out of 100 times! I’m excited for what next year brings if the Twins clear the way for the young guys.

The Twins Can Make a Run in the Playoffs. Here's How.
TNtwins85 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If one has ever watched the playoffs we all know it’s about momentum. Seattle last year is a prime example. When Yordan hit that HR they were done and one could say it helped propel the Astros to the WS. Or when Harper hit the HR against San Diego. Lots of other plays happen but momentum is a huge factor. The Twins have the starters to stay in games and the star power for a big hit. It’s the bullpen that worries me. But, there’s always a chance once you’re in! -
Unless they go on a playoff run I think we’ll see a very different team come 2024. I think FO will still be in but the days of Kepler and Polanco are gone. Gallo retires when nobody signs him. As well as maybe Baldelli and company gone. Find a spot for Lee and Lewis to coexist on the roster without having to play 4 different positions. Varland will be in the rotation. Figure out if Wallner and Larnach can PLAY. Buxton will live and die in CF once again. And hopefully the bullpen can figure something out with another year of guys trying their hands getting key outs. No tear down but kinda what everyone want has wanted. Maybe a FA rotational piece and buy low guy sprinkled in there. If they make a postseason run….well, we’ll burn that bridge when we get there.

Instant Reaction: Twins Pass on Trade Deadline
TNtwins85 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Looks like they are gonna ride with this team and look to 2024. This team has potential, hell, it’s the same team that we came into the season with and like Seth stated if everyone is even playing close to their potential they will run away with this division as they should have from the get go. They will have to look around the room at each other knowing nobody is coming to save them and they will live and die with those same guys in the room. That’s intimidating for sure! But, could also pull a team together as well. If nothing else we’ll see who sinks and swims and the off-season and 2024 will become crystal clear since I guess it hasn’t already.- 49 replies

Well, not what I expected but yet maybe it’s what I expected. I thought they’d make at least one deal but this deadline was weird. With Cleveland looking for addition by subtraction I guess the AL central will try to see what the lowest amount of wins can get a team into the playoffs. With that being said we all know how it is around here and even if the Twins won 5 World Series titles in a row we would still be clamoring how someone made a wrong move so I guess at this point we just strap in for the ride.

I don’t think Polanco will be back next year. And if Buxton can’t play CF anymore then I would add him to that list as well. He’s a perfect 1-1 with another vet on a bad deal in the offseason. If he can’t play the field that is

Probably costs the Twins a couple higher Rated prospects though. If they think he’ll hit like this the next couple years then absolutely! Pham could probably be had for one or two 15-30 ranked prospects. They both provide value at different cost levels for sure

Thomas or Pham seem to be the only fits here. I would lean towards Pham at this point as a rental and try to package Raley in that deal. One would suspect that’s the move. I can’t see them getting Thomas at this point from Falveys comments and I wouldn’t give up what the nationals probably want for him either.

Trade Deadline Rumors: Trevor Larnach Talk Heats Up
TNtwins85 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Well, Wallner is gonna stay in place for now with the injury to Kiriloff. Also, he’s one of their best hitters at the moment. They are not moving any big name prospects. Falvey has said that they will make “baseball” moves. A LH relief pitcher and a RH bat. That’s what they need and all reports are that’s what they are shopping for. If they can get Raley and Pham for Larnach you make that trade. It helps the team. It doesn’t move the needle much but it helps tremendously short term while not sacrificing much long term.- 26 replies

Twins Trade Jorge Lopez to Marlins for Dylan Floro
TNtwins85 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree totally! Probably would have had to part ways with another big prospect on top of what they gave for Mahle though. Marte was a top 10-20 prospect last year so put in place another one of the twins top guys from last year. Hindsight 20/20. -
Twins Trade Jorge Lopez to Marlins for Dylan Floro
TNtwins85 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It sucks that those 2 prospects are doing good in light of what happened to Mahle but who were the twins supposed to get? Who were they supposed to trade? What prospects would everyone here have traded? SP’s are expensive and if they would have done nothing everyone here would have been saying the opposite. “Why didn’t they get a SP?” Yeah they lost the trade. Lots of teams lose trades. This dead horse isn’t rideable any longer. Can we put the stick down yet? -
Joe Ryan is the Twins' Most Valuable Trade Asset
TNtwins85 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If Ryan gets tradedthen we might as well shop the whole team. Fire Falvine and the whole coaching staff. Oh, also might as well sell the team while they’re at it. After that we’ll all pick a new favorite team and we can revisit being a Twins fan in 4-6 years. If we haven’t already traded Walker Jenkins yet that is.- 56 replies

Wow! Nice scouting report! Definitely could be a steal for sure. He seems to slow his motion a bit on the curveball but still. Really refined if that’s him at 18. The easy velocity on the fastball and the bugs bunny action on the curveball. Wow.

They always do a big spectacle for the top picks don’t they? Will probably see them at target field for a signing day and a round of BP before heading to Florida.

Julien is a perfect DH candidate. Send Buxton to the IL until he can play the OF. Give Polanco 2nd back until he gets hurt again. Let him walk after the season. Lee slides into 2nd base next year. He won’t be back in time to build any value unless we can find someone similar to the Twins who like trading for damaged goods. Lol

75 Options the Minnesota Twins Could Trade For
TNtwins85 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Well you’re still not following the context of the original conversation. You refuse to read previous posts while just posting your own snarky comments. So I guess I have no other choice but to explain this to you as if you’re a child walking in during the middle of a movie. Person A suggested trading anybody you could get a good deal on to play for next year instead of trying to take advantage of this year. Person B suggested that they should take advantage of this pitching staff by maybe adding 1-2 low level guys and make moves on the fringes maybe. Posing the point that we really don’t have the depth in the minors or majors to make the type of moves that this team perhaps should make if they’re going all in. Person A then suggested that they should listen on everybody and build for the future. Person B floated the idea that in order to get mlb ready prospects the team (Twins) would have to trade players that were worth something which would degrade future teams and they would be forced to tear it all down and wait on prospects. Person A and Person B came to a consensus that with the depth the team would either have to completely go for it this year or tear it down and build a better future team. I’m paraphrasing this but something like this happened. Enter Person C (you). Wanders in trying to figure out why one would trade Jeffers. Person C is confused at how this thread had come to this and instead of figuring it out chooses instead to just make comments on one small piece of the conversation calling others snarky all while being irritable themselves.- 42 replies

75 Options the Minnesota Twins Could Trade For
TNtwins85 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Love!!! I said this the other day in a different thread. Bellinger is the perfect move for this team! Reverse split LH bat. Power. Can play multiple positions. Former MVP. Youngish. Rental. Checks all the boxes and can probably be had for a prospect or 2 that’s not in your top 5-10. Bellinger and a LH reliever and let it ride. About all we can do- 42 replies

I’d agree wholeheartedly! Unless we’re tearing it all down or going all in we don’t have the capital to make any big moves. Improve on the fringes and cross your fingers.- 42 replies

75 Options the Minnesota Twins Could Trade For
TNtwins85 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree. It’s a great year to be a seller for sure. Gotta really have faith in your scouting department to evaluate the guys to go for and even then the most sure prospects are not slam dunks in the end. I’m not sure the FO is willing to put their jobs on the line at this point and pin everything on next year when you have this pitching staff. Also, second half of the year may not be pretty for this pitching staff when a lot of these guys have never thrown that many innings. I think they should plan on next year but that’s putting a lot of faith on next year is all I’m saying, and I don’t see Falvine doing that.- 42 replies
