  1. Oh dang! Ok. I thought I might have seen that but thought it was only last year. Well, I guess they’ll have to DFA a few then. Cut the fat out to get some young guys up to get ab’s and innings
  2. For the rest of the season let’s test out the young guys! Get burrows and coulombs out. Bring in Ryan and winder. Once the roster expands in September bring up Martin, Balazovic, sands, vallimont, heck why not even woods-Richardson for a few September innings. Give them a taste. We’re gonna need these guys next year so we need to stop worrying about selling tickets this year and get these young guys reps!!!
  3. I’m still trying to figure out why the twins drafted sabato. He had better start drawing lots of walks and lots of dingers so we can package him in a trade for a pitcher! Haha
  4. I like it!!! Scramble things up a bit!
  5. We got mlbtv free through T-Mobile so we’ve watched a lot of baseball this year. If not for the free baseball we would’ve dumped T-Mobile long ago. We’re cord cutters in TN so we haven’t watched the twins in ages. I could take em or leave em. Mostly watching The division races but the twins are still entertaining. Btw “F” T-Mobile. Unless you’re in a city the Internet seriously doesn’t work lol
  6. And he’ll probably be there at 5 since it sounds like he’s not going back to Vanderbilt. I’d take rocker if he’s there. Like gunnarthor said I’d probably take the top college pitcher that’s available. No more OFs unless he has true Buxton potential. Same with SS. If he’s not a lock to stick take the pitcher instead.
  7. Let’s claim we are competing in 2022. As said by twins brass. If that is to happen and we’re not looking at 2025 we need to not trade anyone. We resign almost everyone and bring in one of Stroman, Rodriguez. We also bring in one of Kershaw, Scherzer. Now we’re not looking for these guys to bring in cy young potential but cy young/winning/competitor pedigree( Nelson Cruz a few years ago). In fill the bullpen with your young guns. Guys with stuff and something to prove. Enough of Derek law, Derek coulombe, Luke Ferrell, Shaun Anderson. We don’t want these guys anymore. Give Rocco a veteran/ old school baseball mind bench coach. Not a Derek law Shaun Anderson equivalent bench coach.build a team to be hard nosed and compete on the field. Not on a piece of paper. Then, see what happens! We’re the underdog again. Surprise someone again!
  8. Before the pandemic hit last year I had the chance to drive down the road to Hawkins field and watch the commodores. This guy looked like a man among boys which judging by his stats to start the season he truly was! This guy is gonna be an OBP machine. On a team of elite players in the country he was by far the best player. No questions. He’s gonna be fine and I can’t wait for him to get the call because he’s a gamer for sure! He’s calm in the box. You can tell he’s got a plan. He was watching the pitcher intently in the on deck circle. He worked the count and when he got his pitch which he knew was coming he attacked the pitchAnd barreled it! He looked like a right handed Mauer in the box. In his prime that is. That kind of hitter! In college!
  9. Agreed! Yes, injuries have played the primary role in never being able to gain momentum when they were trying to get on a role but the fundamentals! Their have been so many games where we blew it with bone headed plays on the field. Also so many games we had on hand and the bullpen would completely blow it. In order to be able to take 8 out of 10 games or 15 out of 20 you have to be sharp and making the right plays. Throwing to the cutoff man. Getting the ball in. Throwing strikes. Fundamentals killed this team from the beginning. I put a lot of that on the coaching staff personally
  10. Almost everything stated here makes very little sense. Maybe Santana doesn’t get hurt with the twins. But he did and you could probably reason that he would have no matter what team he played for. So, he would have never pitched a playoff game in 09 or 10 even if the twins were able to sign him. Which in turn worked out terrible for the Mets having that contract on the books when he was unable to play. Then, it’s been stated that Berrios wants to go to the market to make a splash. So why in the world would you think he could’ve been signed for 12-15M? Maybe 3 years ago. Maybe. Haven’t we been trying to extend him and Buxton for years now? I wanna say when Kepler and polanco signed their deals Buxton and Berrios were brought extensions as well. Berrios has obviously been eyeing FA for some time now so I don’t think that 12-15M number was ever relevant. These two pitchers and situations are polar opposites in every degree
  11. So because they’re trading one guy who we obviously are not going to sign because he wants top dollar on the market we should just trade everybody? The fact that these guys are negotiating till the bitter end for every last dollar shows you that these guys understand that mlb is a business. If these guys are getting upset that guy A or guy B is getting traded in order to make the team hopefully better in years to come then they are doing themselves a massive disservice. Not only to themselves but to the team ultimately. If your coworker leaves to go to another company in order to better his life that’s gonna make you not want to work as hard instead of trying to work harder to gain that same job yourself? You make it sound like we’re just giving up on him when actually the twins are trying to better themselves when the inevitable is staring them in the face.
  12. Dodgers going all in for Scherzer and Turner. If that deal happens Berrios “is” going to San Diego!!! Maybe him and someone else https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/07/dodgers-making-significant-progress-on-deal-to-acquire-max-scherzer-trea-turner.html
  13. Isn’t it almost every year though some young prospect or rookie takes over a few games in the post season and becomes a star? Andrew Jones, k-rod,ellsbury, wacha, last year arrozarena. The young guys usually don’t get you there or carry you through the postseason but it’s good to have those hot prospects on your postseason roster.
  14. I never really thought the dodgers were “in” on Berrios. We’ll see. If scherzer goes to San Diego I think the other teams shift to Berrios. I really wanted the Padres to land him as they seem the most desperate and have the prospects. We’ll see if SD gets Mad Max but I’m sure everything is about to shift to the Berrios market once Max has found a destination
  15. When are all you on the keep Berrios train gonna realize he’s not signing here. Stop being delusional. He wants top dollar on the open market. Now is his peak value. Anytime after the deadline his value is just gonna decline. Tell yourself this is a good thing. This is a great opportunity for the twins.
  16. I like the trade a lot! It really sets us up to compete next year with a few FA signings. Maybe we could get one of Thompson or Espinoza for taking on Hosmers contract. I make this deal 10 out of 10 times since Berrios had made it obvious he’s going to free agency. After this deal and a few others after the deadline we immediately get on the phone with Buxtons reps and get a deal done!
  17. That eliminates that Padres Gallo rumor. Berrios and Kepler to San Diego?!?!
  18. It looks like the Padres are looking to unload Eric Hosmer. Does anyone else think it makes sense to swoop in and take on that contract with a Berrios trade? I think he fits right in if we can package it right. He’s not that expensive either over the next couple years. If it helps us get a Gore and Espinoza with hosmer for Berrios possibly? I think I take that deal. Any thoughts?
  19. Because his value is at its peak. The twins and Berrios seem miles apart. We’re not actively trying to trade him. As the reports said they’re asking price is sky high. You’re looking to be blown away. An offer you can’t refuse.
  20. Absolutely! If they can get a premiere SS I’m game. My gripe is with the starry eyed perspective of getting a SS destined for third or the corner OF prospect. If we can pry Abrams I’m ecstatic! Or a true pure CF. Other than that we need top flight pitching prospects! Stat!
  21. I say no to all of these. If we’re trading Berrios we need at least 2 high ranking pitchers back. Why are we wanting corner infielders and outfielders? Our problem is pitching and we’re trading our best. We should be getting back 3 SP’s if not more. Yeah, it’s nice to get other teams top prospects but we have way more than enough outfielders for sure. Did we not just see the Cruz trade? Unless it’s a Buxton type outfield prospect we should not be the least interested.
  22. Ding ding ding! Couldn’t agree more. This had to happen. Also, this should be the first in a long line! We need to load the system with pitching so we’re not calling up the Derrick laws of the organization. If we’re gonna develop a lights out bullpen we need electric stuff flowing out of AAA. Maybe these 2 are both back of the rotation filler and that’s fine. But we need an overflow of young “stuff” guys to take the role on or we will be relegated to mediocrity in building a bullpen.
  23. Agreed. At this point let’s give up on the Sano experiment. Let’s give Rooker the rest of the DH ab’s the rest of the season and see how he fares. Now that the trades have begun let’s get some more call ups and see what we have in the kids! Agreed though, I value Arraez as maybe the most exciting player on this team when Buxton is out. Which to this point has been pretty much his whole career
  24. Great trade for both teams! It had to be done and for Cruz as a rental we got some quality pieces to next years puzzle. 2 guys who have a legit shot at the rotation next year! Let’s keep shopping!!!
  25. Yes! This is what I’m saying! People enamored by Megill should remember and think about this comp! I’m not saying he doesn’t turn into a good SP. I’m just saying that his track record shows nothing of him being a dominant top of the rotation starter. If I’m getting him as the headliner with a few down the road lottery tickets that seems like a recipe for disaster if I’m trading my best top of the rotation pitcher at max value
