The twins should be able to win a weak division with the roster they have projected today ... They are not a playoff caliber contender like they were last year with this roster going into 2024 ... That's good enough for the Pohlads , they want a winning team during the season to draw fans into the seats , they won't spend for a contender at least this year due to budget reduction ... Twins fans want a winner , I want a new owner that wants to win it all ... With the way big contracts are and not shelling out free agency money it is time for the Pohlads to sell ... We just aren't keeping up with the Jones ... The Timberwolves sold for more value than the team was estimated at , I think the Pohlads could get close to 2 billion for the team even though it's only valued at 1.3 billion as of last year ...

If the FO is going to make trades ... they are better at making trades during the off season with patience ... They have been worse at the trade deadline , haste makes waste , and the deadline trades have not helped the twins , they were brutal for this front office , even the berrios deadline trade hasn't come to fruition yet and that wasn't a trade of haste ...

I didn't say anything about Julien ... I like Polanco's bat and he produces when healthy and a switchhitter is an asset ... We need hitters and I like his bat in the lineup , maybe he doesn't belong at the top of the order anymore ... There are others that could be traded and replaced ( ??? ) and Polanco was an allstar as a shortstop ( granted his hitting got him the allstar selection ) ... We got better in the second half , why ? , when Polanco and Lewis came back from injury , the team started playing better baseball ( Kepler , solano , Jeffers and others helped ) and they produced runs ... 1 year of baseball from wallner and Julien isnt going to tell me much about what kind of career they might be ( Julien was more impressive but had some minny slumps and slumped towards the end , Julien has promise as he improved on his defense ) .... Lewis is another story if he can stay healthy , 5 tool player , Arraez also was also an exception in my evaluation , by August 2019 in his first year that he was a major leaguer , I didn't need 3 years to evaluate him , maybe not a 5 tool player but he could and does hit ... We need hitters and pitchers too , with experience doesn't hurt ... San Francisco needs a shortstop , trade farmer , we are out of the Seattle sweepstakes as they traded Ray to the giants , Seattle isn't going to trade anymore of their starters ... Miami is a possibility in acquiring pitching but other teams are looking for pitching to ...

There is still plenty left in the tank with Polanco , when healthy he produces , his salary isn't unreasonable ... Keep him at least until a competent replacement is capable to replace him ... Still a month or so before spring training starts so anything can happen ..

Greatest Twins Teams of All Time: 2019
Blyleven2011 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It was a great regular season , lots of double digit wins , no big losing streak .... And we finally beat the Yankees at something 307 to 306 in homeruns ... An easy season for the first year manager to win the manager of the year award , was he worthy of it because all the players had career year ( you decide ) ... We added Dyson and Romo at deadline ... Playoffs was rough , starting rookie Dobnak in New York wasn't the smartest move ( fans in New York are brutal on the opposing team ) , they still should have went with odorizze in game 2 , They pitched odorizze game 3 at home because he pitched better at target field , and the rest is history , except the FO still thinks all their players are homerun hitters ...- 8 replies

Who has been the most disappointing is an easy question to answer .... Cavaco and Sabato ... sounds like Jay was also a disappointment for the Twins but still living the dream with the Mets minor leagues ... Who will shine in 2024 , Lewis , kiriloff if healthy , and at some point in time Lee ... Larnach I hope he got some instructions this off season on how to hit the off speed pitches , this is definitely his last season as a twin unless there is a break out .... Gordon needs a good spring , but could be traded ....

No kidding , there not just cutting the payroll for the team , they're cutting cost everywhere and at the expense of the fans ... They have cut costs on Twins fest , the caravan isn't as big as it once was , I don't think they leave the state to promote the twins like they used to , the twins fest also used to be 3 days ... They're cutting cost at the expense of the fans , plain and simple ...

Heighten the fans experience ... Hum ... Get rid of the junk on the scoreboards and the whirly -gig and have people concentrate on the game ... might attract more fans of the game with less distractions ... If there is a real reason for closing off sections during the game it is probably because help is hard to find to clean the stadium ... I wish we the fans could get a straight answer from the front office , I just cant believe anything that comes from the front office because they always go the long way around the barn .... Why can't the front office come out and express their real intentions to the fans , we have to sit and wait for something substantial to be added to the roster , how are we supposed to get excited for Twins fest when they continue to lolly-gag ... Nice article Ted , I just can't praise the Twins staff like you can ...

I'm totally shocked that the TD voters didn't recognize that pitching wins games ... With the Twins starting pitching the best by far in 2023 , has everyone forgotten how bad the pitching was in 2021 and 2022 ... Pitching was the best asset in 2023 ... Ratings are definitely overrated ... Lopez was and will be again our best asset in 2024 ... Lee knocking on the door to the bigs and could be an asset this season and Jenkins still about a year away is an asset but not for the 2024 Twins season ... Pitching won games for us last year , if it wasn't for the great pitching we would not have won the division with a mediocre lineup ... I am totally shocked the TD voters didn't see this ..

This is another dfa'd player before the season starts ... This guy was a first round pick in 2017 ,,, the OP didn't mention really any of his stats all in the minors ... He has walked 24% and struck out 27% , he can't seem to throw strikes , but who knows if our staff can harness anything out of him , 3 other clubs didn't .. Only thing he has going for him is he's has options to stash in st Paul as depth , but he takes a roster spot and if something better comes along he'll be dfa'd ... We are up to 38 roster spots , 1 starting pitcher and a 1 bullpen arm are needed , maybe found in the same trade , and maybe a quality contact hitter ... Reaching for straws and just another dumpster diving attempt , if Macky or minor league coaches can get him to throw strikes on a consistent basis , they will be deemed geniuses ....

But falvey likes strikeouts , Yes He gets on base by contact or walks , would like to see those 2 strikes strikeouts cut down , like you mentioned protect the plate better , swing if it's close ... Adjustments need to be made and I doubt coaching will help ( they can suggest ) , it's up to him to be alittle more aggressive with 2 strikes , I'd rather see a swinging strike three ...

We need pitching and if Funderburk can bring the thunder I'm all for it ... He showed us a small sample of what he could be in his first taste of the jitters of MLB baseball , I hope he has a good year and being lefthanded will be here to stay ... He didn't show much for jitters , he got his outs , gave up only 1 homer , less hits than innings pitched is good , but walked some batters , so he has some work to do ... We need pitching ...

Ratings are really over rated ... Varland is valuable as a spot starter for now and a solid bullpen option ... Polanco is solid when healthy and is still a valuable player for the Twins ... Raya is young but hasn't been stretched out to 5 innings or more , he might end up being a great bullpen option from what he has shown so far in minors , he might end up a great starter as he builds strength to his frame , just to early to make a statement , is he even going to be in the majors in 2024 ... Wallner made improvements in 2024 in the outfield , still has some work to do ... Duran season in 2024 was good but I think he was better on 2023 , I can see why he slip in your rating ...

Paddack is an asset if they manage his workload and just ease him along , if he can't go 5 innings a start , move him to the bullpen as a long reliever , we got him for 2024 and 2025 ... Martin can't hit for power , who cares if he makes contact for singles, doubles or walks , getting on base can be a table setter for the lineup and let the real homerun hitters hit the homers with men on base ... Kepler can be an asset if he keeps the cob webs out of his head , such a streaky hitter ... Boy it would be great if kiriloff could stay healthy , I like his approach to hitting and his power to the opposite field ... Festa shows promise and should be on 26 man roster at some point ...

Would You Double Down on Donny Barrels?
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Dis we really need Solano last year , if it wasn't for his first base experience from previous seasons , I don't think the Twins would have went and got him ... He did a solid job for the Twins , we really didn't need him last year and maybe this year either , but I would take his bat again in the lineup ... -
Ranking Twins Players By Regression Risk in 2024
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I evaluate player's after 3 seasons to know what they are going to be in their careers , we know that Kepler has more than 3 years in his career so we know what type of player to expect , would like to believe he's cleared the cob webs out between his ears but he showed his ability in the playoffs , he doesn't come through in the clutch ... Castro should have alot of confidence after his season with the Twins , he played well , I see him as staying about the same ... Jeffers i still am not convinced with him , did he finally break out to be the hitter we all are hoping for , need another season to evaluate ... Stewart I hope stays healthy and gives us what he did in 2024 with less injuries , he could be the diamond in the ruff if management uses caution on his arm ... Lewis has been a game changer this past season , still just to early in his career to know exactly what his career will look like , injuries have given us a small sample size , but when healthy he has all the confidence in the world to succeed ... Wallner has a small sample size in his career and if any player is considered for regression it would be him , I'd like to believe he is our answer for years of service but I just don't see it at this time , GO Wallner ... Confident player's come through in the clutch ...- 15 replies

Greatest Twins Teams of All Time: 1970
Blyleven2011 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Any mention of Tovar and Carew and some of my favorite memories come back ... Tovar and carew in 1969 especially , the pair stole 5 bases that day between them , Tovar on second, carew on first , they pulled a double steal , Tovar to third , carew to second, but what was remarkable was that Tovar stole home next and carew stayed at second , few pitches later carew stole third , On third base carew steals home ... All these steals were in the third inning of a game against Detroit , early part of the season at met stadium ... We lost that day but we had players to be proud of , fun to watch pepe and sir rodney ... Another fond memory was pepe playing all nine positions ... The 60's and 70's had some great games to watch , win or lose there was some exciting baseball ... The last exciting play on offense that i remember is Ben Revere's somersault triple , he was fun to watch .... You don't have to hit homeruns to have an exciting game ...- 20 replies

5 Positive Signs from Byron Buxton's 2023 Season
Blyleven2011 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Buxton's ability to be a difference maker ... Staying healthy ... Would love to see the Buxton that hit the ball hard for doubles , his swing has changed more towards the homerun swing and the strikeouts are pathetic ... Would love to see Buxton turning his singles into doubles again ... Would love to see Buxton in centerfield again , this is where he has been a difference maker ... Staying healthy would be a difference maker ...
