  1. Sometimes first year managers , the players play really hard to impress and win the division , I've seen it happen many times so Cleveland is a small threat ... Hinch and his Detroit players are going in the right direction but I think they are still at least one more year from challenging for the division , we'll see ... White Sox retooling , Kansas city taking there own sweet time to get it together ... On paper we are good to defend our division title , but as we sit now we have some openings that need addressing ... As most believe it is through a trade we will add these needs , sure hope they're quality , we don't need another experience with someone who might turn there season around ...
  2. Twins let them all walk ... They all got their payday , not sure why Cincinnati offered that kind of money per year plus incentives for pagan, after his 2022 season , he would have been lucky to get a MLB contract ... That's all I have to say about that ...
  3. It could be , I always thought it was the last day of meetings ...
  4. If he does well , the Twins fans will let the FO know about it ... The past 2 healthy seasons he's had decent number's , average and stealing bases ... Yes he's older, but I think because of his early career injuries and loss of 2020 season and injuries again in 2021 , his numbers are finally showing when healthy that he could be capable of improving more as he gets more game experience , he's got talent and I'm sure teams scouts have noticed , will he get selected in rule 5 draft , I think on Thursday we will find out ...
  5. Isaac Paredes sounds like a good option for offense and defense , younger than Solano , just a bit higher in salary ... We need players that put the ball in play ... how much would he cost is anyone's guess with still 4 years of control ... We need a right handed bat , no question , Taylor and Solano are gone ... Please get some offense that can generate offense ... Sorry we don't need a defense only player , we had that last year , lesson learned I hope ...
  6. O'Neil has won 2 gold glove awards as a left fielder ... He has had plenty of injuries and has had only 1 good season in the majors ... If the twins are crunching payroll his cost might be alittle to high for the Twins to be interested this time around , unless some of the 10 million dollar players are traded , he is right handed to fit the position but the injuries are to much of a concern ... Hinch getting an extension , good for him ... Molina , They used to say catchers made the best managers , I don't hear that alot anymore but St Louis is alittle on the old fashioned side ... Yamamoto , open your wallet twins , it's only money and everyone needs pitching , it won't happen for the Twins , the big markets will keep driving up the price over 300 million ... A west coast team more than likely will win out ...
  7. Untouchable players ... You don't trade players that your going to build around and there really are just two at the major league level and that's Lewis and Lopez, maybe 3 with Duran ... Correa and buxton don't count because of no trade clause but anyone else on the major league roster is tradeable ... Since the chase petty trade who was a 1st round draft choice I have to believe the FO would trade any prospects for a position of need ... Pitcher please ...
  8. Everyone is desperate for pitching , and he can play other positions too . Didn't hurt Toronto to take a flyer on him ...
  9. There's lots to talk about but nothing significant has developed to get excited about ... I hope the FO gets something accomplished this week to generate some excitement because as our situation is now , we have taken a step backwards from our post season appearance ... Let's go Twins ... Trader Jerry Dipoto is waiting ...
  10. Pitching proved that a quality pitcher can win in the post season ... We will have to acquire a quality pitcher through trade that has control and comes with a lesser cost than a free agent ... Mediocre pitching can win divisions but fail in post seasons against the better teams ... Winter meetings are here , the FO needs to find this pitcher through trade and it isn't going to be a one for one swap like arraez for Lopez, even though the twins did get 2 other prospects back along with Lopez, but it still feels like a one for one ... Every team is looking for quality pitchers , so the FO needs to be aggressive and get something done before other teams scoop up the tradeable pitchers available ... It would also be nice to get this done to generate some interest for Twins fest , since their payroll announcement has deflated some of the Twins fans interest ... Paddack should be good until he isn't , liked how he pitched in the small sample size at the end of 2023 ... You could see the fire and determination in his eyes, he wants the ball ...
  11. Honorable mention ... 2011 , Why ??? , because of one game , 7-15-11 .... Ben revere had the highlight of the season as he stumbles and somersaults rounding second base and ends up being safe with a triple ... Benny was a fun player to watch before traded to Phillies for Trevor May ... Why is it that the smaller players are fun to watch and do some incredible things ???
  12. Funny how the players mentioned in the article are all from the falvey / Levine era ... Terry Ryan must have been a genius then at handing out multi-year contracts ... Hughes , Nolasco , peltry ... Now think about the worst twins contract signed , for me ot was DONALDSON , why ? , because we didn't need him after a great 2019 offensive year , what we needed at the time was pitching ... Worst acquisition for the Twins , plain and simple ...
  13. Getting it right ... Hitting on the upgrade ... Something needs to be addressed on pitching and they can't use payroll as an excuse ... The fans aren't accepting that while 2023 had the pitching that took them to the playoffs ...
  14. I wish they would get something done before Twins fest so us fans could have some enthusiasm to look forward to ...
  15. I was just quoting a line of the OP ,,, Kepler's defense was never in question but his hitting just wasn't productive ,,, 2019 was a career year for Kepler and 2020 started well , but batting 1st or 4th in the lineup, he just didn't belong there , he's more productive in the 6th slot in the batting order with less pressure .... Kepler has been one of the Twins best rightfielders since Tony O ... Some good ones in between , but Tony O and kepler were / are the elite right fielders the twins have ever had and are two of my favorite right fielders in our history ...
  16. I have loved Kepler defense and have always said he has been one of the best right fielders in Twins history , Oliva was quite good too , cuddyer , Puckett and hunter in between Oliva and kepler were good but not as good as my two favorite right fielders ... Kepler hitting is why they wanted him dfa'd or traded , he's not a lead off hitter or in the 4th slot in the batting order but has been placed there in the past , place him sixth and he responds better with less pressure ...
  17. I agree that both wallner and Julien are not superior on defense but you have to have alittle faith in the players that they will get better , maybe not gold glove better , but better ... I know you like defense better than offense as your posts always reflect that ... Also a P. S. Watch all those thumb downs you handout , people are sensitive to them , if you don't agree with a post by others , just quote them and give them details of why you disagree , just a little constructive criticism ...
  18. Nice enthusiastic article sherry , we have not had one of these articles for awhile ... Crazy how Kepler is now a fan favorite again after 2 1/2 years of everyone wanting to trade him , if we retain Kepler I sure hope he hits , always have loved his defense ... Polanco I'd like to keep even though we have a surplus , if healthy I think he will put up his regular contributions to the line up as a switch hitter ... The twins needs plenty and trades are justified for those needs ... seattle and miami have pitching who have control , Milwaukee doesn't so not interested in burns , Milwaukee does have a surplus of controllable outfielders that have promise ... We'll have to sit back and see what their plan really is ... It would be nice if they could move alittle faster on the plan and generate enthusiasm for Twins fest ... Christmas present are always nice ...
  19. It should be fine for provus moving into the TV booth ... Atteberry and gladden together for the year should be okay .... I wish they would call the games better by telling the fans how many outs , balls and strikes for people just tuning in to radio it takes awhile before you know where your at in the game ... Telling the score after each half inning would help too , their details are lacking ... maybe they will be a good team in the radio booth , they have done games together when provus is on vacation, ...
  20. Something is better than the eyes a umpire has ...
  21. They better start making some concrete plans and get creative to acquire at least one quality starter ... The FO needs to generate some enthusiasm before Twins fest ...
  22. A first round draft pick that makes contact and a switch hitter to boot ... A valuable player you hang onto and find some other prospects to trade ... Lee , Jenkins and Soto stay and any of the rest of prospects can be trade bait ... We need bats also to strengthen the lineup with clutch hitting ( see Lewis for clutch hitting ) ... I want exciting baseball with hitters getting on base ... Pitching was outstanding last year and yes we need a quality starter to fill Gray's vacancy ... FO needs to be creative , let's just sit back , relax and see what happens , if it doesn't happen than we can blast them for not having a contending team ...
  23. Let the young men play the game ... We've seen last deadline the FO do nothing , We've seen alot of our free agent players sign elsewhere ... We've always seem to see the front office move slowly ... Please bring us a nice starting pitcher for 2024 ... A nice Christmas would nice ...
