  1. It would be nice if the FO could at least come forth with a statement to the fans that they are working diligently towards improving the team or this is the team we are comfortable with , like they did at the deadline last year ...
  2. Lewis , Culpepper and zebby Matthew's all had good seasons ... Lewis should be the first one promoted to AA and if things go well he could be knocking on the door in a 2025 debut ...
  3. Kepler has been very good as a right fielder , if he had some gold gloves on his resume other teams would value him higher ... As it is the Twins value him higher , we get to see him almost everyday in right field and he has some outstanding years on defense , that he should have a good glove is a given ... Oliva and Kepler are my choices for best twin right fielders ...
  4. Yes , I agree to all , we were the cheap seats and moved wherever we wanted and then after 5 innings they never kicked us out of the good seats the remainder of the game ... It's baseball and all the games are fun , except for 2021 and 2022 seasons , they were definitely total system failure , even 2016 with 103 losses was a good year as they actually lost alot of close competitive games that were more entertaining than 2021 and 2022 ...
  5. Fans only remember the team that won , never the runner up ... Twins fans remember the 65 Twins all day , every day ... They had a tremendous year and they won so many games in the ninth inning coming from behind ... They had the talent in the whole roster , you believed they could take the field and win every game ... The best game 7 world series was Morris and his 10 inning shutout , the second best game 7 world series was losing to sandy Koufax in 1965 and the 3rd best game 7 was the 1987 world series with viola winning the series MVP... The last 3 greatest Twins teams are in correct order , see you tomorrow night for game 7 , 1991 ...
  6. Hey doc ,

    Who's this guy cc5hofteartolate ...

Giving out thumbs down  to everyone  instead of replying with a quote to disagree  ...

I didnt think i deserved one  , got one from him earlier today and asked him to give me a reason  , all I got back was more thumbs down  on other posts and some childish remarks ...

I see you had a blog that I missed and cc5hofyearstolate was all over you  , profile says member since 2015 but I've never noticed him before

I agree with you on this. I think the thumbs down detracts from a civil discussion and I wish that feature would be removed. The first time it was used on me I was quite annoyed. I have decided to ignore the thumbs down. There are many forums that have similar features.

So was I for the same reason, but it's been happening to me for a long time. I just ignore them & hope those who have sense would understand what is happening.

I gave you one thumbs down for a bad, cheap joke about the front office and you proceeded to childishly give me 6 thumbs-downs in return and dig up a 3 day old comment and try to be snippy to me.

Don't act like I'm the one who started it when you acted like a toddler after one thumbs down.

  7. No I'm the jolly green giant , im disagreeing with your thumbs down to everyone that doesn't deserve it , they are smarter than a fifth grader and most of the time know what they are talking about .. Your newer to the site and an old saying , if you can't say anything nice about them don't say anything at all ... If i deserve a thumbs down , then okay , but when I don't deserve one I take it personally and so do others , so write a quote and tell me why you disagree ...
  8. Get your facts right , Lewis will definitely start in AA , he has nothing left to prove in A ball and FO is moving this group rapidly but some will fail because of it , Lewis right now it the best of the lot ...
  9. If 5th starters are a dime a dozen , our FO got fleeced again , haha ... Without a quality pitcher behind lopez , we will win enough games to win the division but it won't be enough wins to get out of the wildcard slot ...
  10. This article is spot on ... I have been saying this for years , we have a pitching staff that can be competitive but aren't a playoff contender ... It showed last year what strong pitching can do , Last year we had a very solid starting pitching staff and we made progress in the playoffs but fell short ... Now we are taking a step back in starting pitcher , we are not starting the season with a 1 / 2 punch , behind lopez , hòw long Paddack can stay healthy or on a pitch limit , Ober wasn't bad until he tired and Ryan muffed an injury and second half faltered The time to add a high quality starting pitcher is in the off season by trade because we know the FO doesn't add expensive and long term starting pitchers in free agency ... The the FO seems to be better at trading during off season and has muffed most of the deadline trades ... And if they find a trading partner at the deadline it's very expensive and the teams trading their top starters to desperate teams ( deadline trades ) will want top prospects in return and plenty of them ... We still have time before the season starts to add that quality pitcher at a lesser price than the deadline ... Plus there is a probability of TV revenue contract coming back at 40 million instead of 55 million .... WHY SHOULDN'T WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A QUALITY STARTER AND A PAYROLL OF 135 MILLION ....
  11. DeSclafani doesn't really help for the post season , yes he'll eat up innings during the season ... If the twins are going to get a front of the rotation guy the time is now beforetheseasonstarts , as it is always more expensive at the deadline , and they have been awful in making trades at the deadline ... On paper Topa helps the team in the bullpen , he's a late bloomer with a impressive 2023 , hope he repeats ...
  12. This is a better addition than last year's signing of Gallo , even at 37 Santana should still be a good depth piece ... But I don't understand why they don't value our #9 rated farm system and promote from within , yes we are short handed at first base in the minors but there is still choices there that would probably be as good as Santana ... I do like the signing though ...
  13. From this article Polanco was traded at the right time and received something in return , i dont necessarily agree trading Polanco his bat should able to be replaced , but will his clutch hitting be replaced ... what I don't get if this was the right time to trade Polanco and got a return like the rays do , then why is Kepler still here for his Final year of his contract and we will get nothing if he walks away at the end of the season ... The only way way we recoup anything for Kepler is if we trade him at this year's deadline , there is a possibility of the Twins offering him a qualifying offer for 2025 if he can maintain his second half performance ...
  14. You are correct Stewart had a fastball in the upper 90's when drafted ... What happened I don't know , petty drafted out of HS is going well for Cincinnati farm and I hope the same for Soto ... Bring him along slowly as he still fills out , don't wreck the arm ,
  15. The twins had a terrific draft in 2023 , I was impressed with his athletic abilities when I read his stats on draft day ... Young kid out of high school going into proball is a big step , but in his small sample at fcl league he managed to impress even further ... He's got a long ways to go and maybe he can and maybe he won't make it to the show ... He's in the minors for one reason and that is to be groomed to be a professional baseball player for the show ... Nobody is questioning his talent , work hard and play the game the right way ... I wish Winokur nothing but success ...
  16. Now is the time to get that post season pitcher , they will cost more at the deadline and our front office hasn't been to fortunate at trading at the deadline , in all there deadline trades we have been fleeced ....
  17. Yes I see the numbers , thanks ... I did know there was others who were performing well , but things were not quite clicking , I stated Polanco and Lewis came off their injuries and it seemed like it ignited the team to playing better baseball for 2 1/2 plus months ... Polanco , I'm sure we can replace Polanco's bat , I just hope we can replace his clutch hitting ...
  18. What's next ??? The Front office still needs to add something substantial to the starting staff of pitchers , the Polanco trade did not make the team better for 2024 ... It added a arm for the bullpen ( topa ) and a #5 starter for depth ( DeSclafani ) ... Topa so far is a late bloomer with 1 good season ( reminds me of lopez ) ... DeSclafani has battled injuries , last good season was 2021 ( reminds me of Bundy as an inning eater ) ... Quality starting pitching kept us in a lot of games during the season and was the reason we won some playoff games ... Our hitting sucked until Polanco and Lewis came back from injuries and ignited our offense in the second half , Polanco's hitting can be replaced but can his clutch hitting be replaced ... Has our FO failed to see the big picture and not learned anything from their mistakes of 2021 especially and 2022 alittle better ... Before the trade of Polanco we had decent starting pitching to win the division but not enough starting pitching to win playoff series , nothing has changed with this trade for DeSclafani ... We also now need a good righthanded batter more than ever ( preferably an outfielder ) , Polanco was a switch hitter , a very valued commodity ...
  19. When i first read the trade results , my thought to was Topa was the real value for now at least , desclafini was dumped on us for some salary relief for the mariners ... I havent confirmed it yet but i heard mariners have sent 6 million to help pay down on desclafini salary ... A top 100 outfield prospect and a wild card pitcher , we'll have to see how that plays out ... I sure hope desclafini is alot better than Bundy , Bundy worked his tail off and I liked him for that , but his results weren't good ...
  20. From what I heard ,,, Twins got 6 million cash plus 4 players in Polanco trade ... Topa had a strong year with Seattle in 2023 , bullpen arm , desclafini will be the fifth starter and the two prospects must prosper in the minor leagues to make the show some day ... Going to miss Polanco and I wish him well in Seattle ...
  21. Lewis has shown he is a game changer when healthy ... If he continues playing at a high level , he's worth locking up for the Twins ... They gave Buxton 7 years and 100 million plus incentives and he was well known for injures and has played over a 100 games only once ... Give Lewis a 7 year contract at 100 million plus incentives , I think he will surpass playing over 100 games each year even with some injuries , unless he blows the knee out again ... Play him at 3rd base and watch him be an allstar for years ...
  22. I have alot of respect for Terry Ryan , he put together some good teams that won divisions ... He also put together some awful teams , but he wasn't allotted the kind of spending the current front office has been approved to spend ... Ryan is a good baseball man ... Congratulations ...
  23. I would like to believe the Twins will cruise to the division title but it never seems they can cruise .... Playing game to game with no killer instincts ( tomorrow's another day) , your just a 500 team ... Ten game winning streaks and we will capitalize on cruising to the division , otherwise it will be as usual , fans will be asking themselves , can the Twins maintain their 3 of 4 game lead in the month of September to win the division ... I sure hope we find some quality pitching , ( starters and relief ) , our starters are our big winners in 2023 , if it wasn't for them keeping us in the games , Detroit would have won the division with a losing record ... Until the Twins bats woke up after that Atlanta series , it definitely was looking like someone was going to win the Central in 2023 with a losing record ... I'm all for the winning streaks as that separates teams from the other in the standings , I prefer 10 game winning streaks , but you can't always get what you want ...
  24. Just like Jeffers small sample size in his rookie 2020 , fans got all excited that Jeffers was the answer , he hit but wasn't good defensively and then injured ... 21 and 2022 wasn't better, he was a good framer but blocking wild pitched and passed balls and throwing out runners wasn't his specialty , I can't really say his hitting regressed from 2020 , because it was a small sample size , hecwas struck withinjuries again in 2021 and 2022 ... 2023 was a better season for Jeffers as he was better defensively at throwing out runners and blocking pitches , his hitting was a plus from a catchers position ... I need 1 more healthy year from Jeffers to evaluate if he will be an above average catcher to actually say he has broken out , he has improved but consistency is what we are looking for ... It's a demanding and a very important position as the leader on the field ... Vazquez should improve his hitting some , shouldn't be worse , his acclamation to the team could have contributed to his lack of offense ... Someone At Twins fest should ask Rocco or the FO personal , why was Vazquez not used in the playoffs , I'm out of town ...
