  1. As always , I still think the catcher is the leader on the field ( or used to be ) , from a catcher you need defense , blocking pitches , throwing out runners , if he hits , it's a plus ... Years ago you also had shortstops with great defense but couldn't hit , now you have plus defenders and alot of them are plus hitters ... If you trade jeffers and keep Vazquez , you have a problem for 2026 , I do prefer Vazquez defense and savvy behind the plate ... Jeffers trade would get value back but you might have to offer alittle more in trade to get that value , the value we need back is a solid defensive catcher that can hit 260 or better ... There out there , but very few ...
  2. Rocco is not a major league manager or his coaches , I will cut them no slack ... Offense , He has players to his disposal and he can not get that talent to be complete professionals in the game of baseball .. he doesn't teach them to bunt , steal bases , run the bases , hit behind the runners to advance runner into scoring position , hit to opposite field ( the good hitters do ) , no adjustments are made with 2 strikes , no discipline at identifying a strike or a ball off the plate , they continue to swing away and fail miserably at driving runners in scoring position in ( runs do matter , its called rbi's ) , ( they don't have to take batting or infield practice , his quote not mine , the players need to come ready to play but he doesn't emphasize mentioned above ) , he continues to constructs poor lineups , the players don't know if they are batting lead off or number 9 in the order ... Defense , poor , lots of mistakes throwing to the wrong base or missing cutoff man , a professional doesnt make mistakes , yes he may make an error but mistakes are lack of mental preparations that the game plan doesn't emphasize ... In ending , the plan that the FO , manager and coaches has , THEY HOLD NO ONE ACCOUNTABLE and the manager has no strategy ( if the manager continues to bundle things , the players will too ) ... The people with the plan are here for another season , if we can't afford to acquire good players because of payroll , then we need to take the talent we have and teach that talent to be a better talent ...
  3. When and where have I posted Hoffman , never and I'm not sore !!! Hoffman was released from the twins and found success is all I was stating and we let him go for nothing , now he's going to get his payday of 5 million a year , good for him , another strikeout for the FO ... FO always seem to let the wrong player go , it's been their MO for years to let them go for zilch in return and you have to accept it is all i stated He had good seasons and it worked out for him after the twins , all it takes is someone not liking him to stick with a team and he moves on to another team ... You have to much time on your hands with your spread sheets ...
  4. And we let Hoffman walk after he had a good spring in 2023 with the twins ... Do I feel let down , no I do not , it's just FO's way of doing business and you have to accept it ...
  5. Some bad teams in 2021 and 2022 , Polanco mvp in 2021 , Correa mvp in 2022 ... Both deserving but man was it bad baseball ...
  6. Sounds like a good fit for the twins , Trade castro for trade depth pieces ... Your logic is sound ...
  7. Nice article , lasting memory was he hit to all fields when healthy ... Hit alot of opposite field homeruns to left field .....
  8. Your FO will a always keep you scratching your head , yes he could have been packaged with a trade , ( kinda of got the feeling we might not have any trades coming this off season ) ...
  9. I have to agree with this , we've seen him play for really only 2 seasons , with 2022 on IL list almost the entire season ... Yes it is hard to evaluate Miranda on what type of player he is going to be , so faŕ we can evaluate his defense as average at best , but what type of hitter is he going to be exactly , to many injuries so far , 1 more season to figure out if healthy , does he have the stamina to play an everyday role , I have seen many players over the years , some are just a first half player and tire the second half ... Coomer Was a first half player , he barely hit a homerun in the second half of any season ...
  10. Brooks Lee got a taste of MLB baseball , was injured yes , played right around average defense but under performed to his standards of hitting I'm sure ... he struggled at the plate , I would think he starts in AAA St Paul and then be brought up , sometimes a small taste in MLB will give a player some more confidence going into his second year even though he struggled his first year ... He just has to figure out what went wrong and make the adjustments ( could have been the injuries that zapped his hitting ) , from what I hear , he has better knowledge of the game than most ....
  11. Was a joy to watch his athletic abilities at first base , he played the position like a youngster ... His defense was amazing and saved many hits and doubles down the line and helped out our pitchers ... We were very fortunate to see a real professional ... Well deserved, congratulations Carlos ...
  12. Thanks for the AFL report , team had it's ups and downs but managed 4 wins ... Hopefully they can play another good week of ball ... No Allstars from the twins have emerged but always good to read this report for encouraging signs of players ...
  13. Steve Braun was a fine player and put his heart into the game ... Thanks for the memories in the article ...
  14. Number 10 , proved he needs more seasoning at AAA , no trade ... #9 , boy can he hit the ball hard when he connects and rocco needs all the lead off hitters he can get , high trade... #8 , #7 , #6 ,,, you got to be kidding , trading pitching as good as these 3 when you have no proven additions to fill the loss , the FO would be on the hope parade again , no trade ...
  15. C J Cron might be cheap if a free agent for first base , but likely it's filled internally ... Twins have plenty of holes to fill , defense and offense needs help along with bullpen ( left hander RP ) , twins need to evaluate some positions to better the team , if there not in the future plans , trade them , id like to see keashall at second base and he has hit his way through the minors , Brooks Lee will be in AAA to earn a spot back with the big club ... The twins need to emphasize fundamentals , need to take the talent from AAA and make that talent better at the MLB level , it seems we are wasting some of talented players with their ridiculous plan and evaluation , easier to get to the big league baseball , but alot harder to stick ...
  16. I'm not sure what to write only we are in for a disappointment either way , FO has never been able to please the fans ...
  17. It's a win win proposition , you get a quality catcher and you win , catchers are the most important position , they are the leader on the field usually , our FO and Baldelli has taken that leadership out of the catchers position and they are the leaders on the field ( they need to deviate from their plan )... I like Vazquez's defense but to upgrade with a defensive savvy catcher that can hit would go along way to helping the team win , im tired of seeing passed balls that are called wild pitches ... Who to trade , anyone that doesn't have a future with the twins ...
  18. It's a sad day when another first round prospect isn't going to be part of the plan ... When healthy his bat was worth being in the lineup every day ... The issues with injuries throughout the minors and MLB , I guess a player can only take so much and it saps the passion for baseball out of a person ... He can be proud that he made it and performed well in MLB baseball when healthy ... Will he miss it , it's possible he comes out of retirement if 100 percent healthy and considers a comeback in his late 20's , it has happened before ...
  19. I'm not sure why everyone can't see a future for keirsey Jr and are down on him ( because hes older , been in minors to long ???? ), he may not be a superstar but has talent , what most people don't know is he was drafted , started his professional career and injuries kept setting him back on development , but he has been healthy the past 2 to 3 years and each year he has made the strides as a hitter to move up all the way to AAA , in my opinion if any player this past season deserved and really earned a selection to the big leagues, it was Keirsey Jr ... Give the kid a chance and I'm sure fans would be pleased with the results of Keirsey Jr ... Is the FO savvy enough to evaluate a players talent , remember when we needed a second basemen , they were going to call up Gordon and he got hurt , arraez got the call instead , they had no intention to call up arraez because he wasn't a prospect , he got his chance and proved the evaluators all wrong ...
  20. I don't see Rodriguez starting the season on the opening day roster ... It used to be a player that was on the fringe of the MLB was sent to the AFL to be ready to go on opening day , it doesn't seem like that is the case anymore ... Some more seasoning in AAA to earn the position , and I mean earn if he's ready , not a depth player to fill in for injuries ...
  21. Pagan of all the pitchers on your list who turned out one good season as mid level relief pitcher ... I hope the front office , manager and coaches are learning from the playoffs and world series ... What have I seen in the playoffs and world series ... Bunts , hitting to the opposite field and behind the runners , good fundamentals lead to good things , rizzo chokes up on the bat ... I have also seen ex twins players on the playoff and world series teams that we gave up on , most of them were just dfa'd , except graterol and gils ...
  22. Was Allan Anderson still qualified for a rookie ???? Always love the reminders of past twins players ...
