  1. I remember the article on vargas and sano .... I used to call sano boom boom but later I called him K-King ... Vargas I called bam bam , he hit from the left side and I think he crushed the ball further than sano ever did ... I remember all the other articles too but wanted to comment on vargas , I liked him ...
  2. Singles , doubles and triples can score runs too , having the most runs after nine innings will win you alot of games , they need some adjustments with runners in scoring position and with 2 strikes ... The games are alot more exciting when the player's hit the ball , it makes a world of difference , homeruns are nice , but how many were solo homeruns this past season , clutch homeruns are game changers , solo homeruns are not ... Got to have a better plan at the plate , we need runs to win ...
  3. The pitching In 2023 was very good , the starting pitching kept us in alot of games ... I would like Rocco to use more old school technics along with the new school approach ... But if we don't add a quality starting pitcher we are going to need the offense to step and score more runs , a bunt to move a player up a base would be okay, depending on who's in thexon deck circle , hitting behind the runner would help put a runner in scoring position , hit and runs , stealing we did improve on in 2023 ,, Adjustments on two strikes with runners on base needs to be addressed , again we need adjustments to the offense and we will need more runs per game for a winning team if the FO doesn't add a quality starter , less double plays would be nice too ... Seattle traded or dfa'd alot of there strikeout hitters , not everybody likes strikeouts ...
  4. Way to early , let's wait a year and have this discussion after a full Healthy year ...
  5. The thrill of the off season , maybe in 2024 as the calendar turns to January we could have a big thrill going into Twins fest ...
  6. Rocco Baldelli watches his team take the field on Opening Day, he will be hoping they can play the way they did down the stretch last year ... I think Rocco watches his spread sheets more than the players on the field ... Sorry , I couldn't resist ... My number 1 want is a bit of old school and new school combined in our game of professional baseball ... I truly believe we could get more runs scored by combining new and old strategies ... and we are going to need more runs if a quality starter isn't acquired ...
  7. It's obvious to the fans but management likes spread sheets ... Utilize both old school and new school baseball and you'll see a vast improvement in the hitters ...
  8. Varland is a very hard worker and has progressed at all levels , yes He lacks quality secondary pitchers but with hard work he could perfect a couple and be a solid option ... I say if we don't sign a quality pitcher , give varland 10 starts this year and see where he's at , if he succeeds leave him be ... If we sign a quality starter , put varland in the bullpen but keep him stretched out in long relief ... Then I'd probably give him one last try as a starter in 2025 ...
  9. I don't believe in regression , I believe in consistency and consistency is adjustments to the adjustments the other teams pitchers are making against them , if they can cut down on the strikouts , and the better players will and make consistent contacts and make something happen that should improve their hitting ... I see Lewis and Julian as the better players with a better approach , wallner has some work to do ... Please stay out of the double play , use the hit and run , hit behind the runner to the opposite field, maybe an occasional bunt depending on who's in the on deck circle and give the other team the out and put a runner into scoring position with 2 outs to go , got to improve on runner's in scoring position ... Go Twins ...
  10. We need both, starting pitcher and a decent big league hitter ...
  11. Yes he's lost his eligibility for rookie of the year ... I'll take his ceiling as a possible mvp candidate ...
  12. Lewis can be a game changer , with his enthusiasm for the game if healthy , he definitely will surpass the 100 rbi and 100 runs if healthy , the way he was performing before the injury that shut him down the last couple òf weeks , he was on pace to have the most rbi's for the Twins in alot less games ... I'm not sure if he hits over 30 homeruns but it's the clutch hitting , rbi's and runs scored that have been missing in the lineup for some years now ... Don't hold Lewis back And let the fans enjoy , let him stay at third base and I'm looking forward to seeing him as a possible mvp player ...
  13. It was cheerful but tearful , Good Christmas story ...
  14. It's Christmas , do we really have to contemplate a sano return to baseball ... I wanted something under the tree for Christmas but please I'll accept anything in the new-year instead ... Merry Christmas and thanks for articles ...
  15. Just like Santa claus , you can believe but your always disappointed ... As a catcher and his excellent start to his career he will be inducted into the hall of fame ... Injuries robbed him of a better career, you have to take that into consideration... Just not predicting first ballot ...
  16. It only matters if he can play the field ... His hitting has suffered due to the injuries , play the field and his hitting should improve ... I sure hope the reports are accurate that Buxton will be close to 100 percent and ready to go in spring training ....
  17. These are great stories of our love for the game ... I will ditto everyone's stories except playing in the street and tarheels alligators and snakes ... I wish me and my friends could have played in the street though , growing up on the farm we had plenty of pasture land the cows kept mowed ( they were good grounds keepers ) if the ball hit a fresh pile of manure or if you stepped in one , you just went to the water trough and washed it off ... Baseball was the game back then ... I have to share this as it is and still is my favorite memory of a game at met stadium ... Twins were playing a double header against Oakland, Twins win 9 to 8 in first game ... It's the second game that I have the fondest memory of a baseball game... Bottom of the ninth and the Twins are losing 7 to 6 with 2 outs and Carew at second base , now the next batter is killebrew , it is the batter you want up in that situation , so Harmon is in the box and here cones the pitch , Harmon hits the ball , it's a long fly to left center , we all are going bonkers that it's a homerun , but Joe rudi , an excellent left fielder climbs the fence and pulled it back for the third out ( i can still see it , it was a homer until rudi robbed harmon of it ) ... Why was this loss the best game I ever saw , because Harmon was the man and you wanted him up in that situation , Harmon gave it his all that day but his all just wasn't quite enough ( game of inches ) ... That's why even though we lost the game , it was the best game I ever saw because Harmon gave it his all ... We went away happy , a true doubleheader , basically the whole day at the park ...
  18. Sounds okay with me ... Sign montas for a prove it year and if he does get back to the good pitcher he once was before the injuries , then give him a qualifying offer , and if he walks , a comp draft choice ... That is a win , win for the Twins ... I hope we get our hope ...
  19. If he didn't have a mix of poor luck , he wouldn't have any luck at all ... I hope he has a great career , just not with the Twins at this time ... If your trading for a pitcher , make it an established quality pitcher ( I'm always thinking ahead for the playoffs ) , we're always competitive enough to compete for the division , but pitching wins in the playoffs ( my example , we won in the playoffs and broke the winless streak of 18 ... I don't want to start a new one next fall , get a quality starter and get him or her now when it's alittle cheaper , deadline you end up over paying and our FO is terrible at deadline trades ...
  20. How can you say the strikeouts has its merits ... 3 strikeouts at target field in the bottom of the ninth inning ended the playoffs for the Twins ... Yes pitch counts might have merit but no adjustments to hitting with 2 strikes has no merit as they strikeout and no contact made ... What do we need a pitching coach for if we are just a boom or bust hitting squad ... Contact is more exciting than the strikeouts ... The strikeouts that bother me the worst are pitches that are close and the batter doesn't swing and is called strike 3 with his bat on his shoulder ...
  21. I had never heard the Twins could have made a trade for Musgrove , must of been later in off season and I was in Texas for the winter ... That does not sit right with me if they passed on Musgrove , he resigned with San Diego for 20ml per season ...
  22. For those that are excited about the front office , I hope you get your hope and ain't disappointed ... I have better confidence in the FO making good trades during the off season , they have made disastrous trades at the deadline ... Yes they better get it right , starting pitching and a hitting lineup is what we need , standing pat is not what we need , we need a contending team in the playoffs ...
  23. If you want to be a contender in the playoffs , a pitcher like burnes is what you need , high price to acquire for a 1 year rental , yes ... Polanco a switch hitter is a plus and he has been pretty consistent when healthy , he should be 100 ready to go , he's not finished with his career yet , I'd like to keep Polanco but with our surplus of infielders he is the most likeliest to get traded along with prospects ... FO, when FO makes trades they have made trades for players that have some years of control ... I don't see it happening for burnes unless they can get an extension before the trade is made ...
  24. For a 130 dollars a year I use for streaming sports company called uzzu TV app , you can watch any sport year round ( in season ) , no black outs , has worked for me , You can go month to month , cancel anytime with a yearly subscription , football , hockey , baseball and who cares about basketball ... College sports too ... Lots of channels to watch , any team you want plus has history and tbs channels and more ...
  25. Rumor has it seattle traded away players that did not put the ball in play enough , they struck out ... I don't think we have any major league players seattle would want because our boom or bust lineup set a new strikeout record in 2023 ... Sure I would like Gilbert or Kirby but it will definitely be an overpay to get one of them ... For reference , remember what seattle gave up to get Castillo from the Reds , Twins would have to do the same , and we are not going to deplete our prospects as a mid market team ...
