    What opening win ing window are you talking about? This team has been terrible the past two seasons. There is no window. Maybe a window of mediocrity. The FO likes to pat themselves on the back for all the moves they made the past two years. Do they watch their own product? Or like the fans they can't stomach it either? This FO could go down as one of the worst in Twins history.

    So why does everyone act with shock and disbelief that Carlos Correa is going to opt out? IMO this was a foregone conclusion the minute he signed. Correa had a great September. Mostly due to a salary drive and playing against many AAA pitchers. Otherwise he was good but certainly not worth 35illion. This was never about elevating the Twins. It was all about Carlos Correa and what can he do to get a massive contract. He did a great job of using Twins and us patsy fans for his own ego and gain. The Twins had an affordable option in Kiner-Fileva but they immediately traded him to Yankees in part to dump Donaldson's salary to then pick up an even higher salary in Correa. Kiner-Fileva is no Carlos Correa. I'm not even suggesting that. But he's good enough to be the starting shortstop on a storied Yankees team that has world series aspirations. We were all duped and predictably so by Correa and his celebrity allure. Now the truth is he will be gone, almost assuredly, and we will still be without a shortstop. Looks like the FO got dumped as well.

    Unfortunately we can expect more of the same for 2023. At the end of the past two seasons the Twins were blaming their past two seasons on bad luck and injuries. The FO never taking any responsibility for their own moves and lack thereof. Since they are going with the same old philosophy and saying not to expect too many significant changes expect more of the same. I really hope they make the playoffs next year but I am highly skeptical because winning may actually get in the way of their "plan"

    Arraez for Twins MVP is a no brainer. Great player on a very poor, injury riddled and boring team. There is no way Buxton would even show up on an MVP list by playing part time. I would put Miranda, and Gordon ahead of him. The only thing Buck did that was noteworthy, other than hitting 28 Homer's,, was get management to sign him to a $100 million deal. Great contract by him for an 8 year part time player.

    Wallner is a nice story for a team that needs more of them. But where "massive season" came from is strange. His ascension through the minors to the Twins in such quick fashion is a great accomplishment. His time with the Twins wasn't massive, just average. But I like his potential. It's sad though that statistically the bar has been lowered so much by the Twins and us fans. I hope Wallner makes the team next year and does great. The current set of blah, underperforming, overrated, and down right boring group needs a big upgrade.

    Most of those "depth" players were just fill ins. They aren't really that good.

    Keeping Pagan is foolish. They should have DFA him by the middle of the season. Keep sending him out there in key situations on many occasions just to watch him lose another game was a disaster. They keep talking about his stuff. He has good stuff, good spin rates, good missed bats, etc. What good is all that garbage if you can't get anyone out? The major league team is the last step on the baseball ladder. If you can't make it here you don't belong. Pagan epitomizes what is wrong with this team and management. Get rid of him.

    Just a curiosity question. Why wasn't Correa in the starting lineup yesterday? Was the last day of the season too much for him? His scheduled day off lol? Or was he injured?

    This is a bad baseball team and has been for the past two seasons. I agree with many people here regarding analytics. It's ok to use them but we need to be able to deviate from the plan when the plan is obviously not working. Baldelli has NO in game managing/ adjusting skills at all. The Twins play listless boring baseball. They must get away from the swing for the fences on every pitch, and get players who don't strikeout 30% of the time. Too often we have seen players throw to the wrong base, not know how many outs there are, botch things up on the bases. It sure is convenient to blame the whole season on injuries even though most of them were later in the year. Our pitching continues to be amongst the worst statistically in baseball. I think many fans are tired of the 100% stick to the plan even if it means losing games. The FO needs to be honest with the fans in whatever it is they are trying to do. This a bad baseball team playing very bad baseball for two years. My guess with the same FO and management philosophies in place we will only see more of the same.

    This team is not even reasonably close to competing for a title. Correa and Buxton being great together? Where is that fantasy coming from. Buxton has and will continue to miss 40-50% of games due to injury. He is severely injury prone and henceforth not dependable. IMO the Twins are not in competition with anyone for Correa. The Twins aren't going to give him that kind of money and years. Besides, if you do pay him that much then many fans like me will be complaining about the Twins not having enough payroll to add players to make the team competitive. Carlos best offense month was September. Just a big salary drive for himself against normally sub par pitching as teams roll out unproven pitchers to see what they can do. What good is it to sign a big time player if you aren't going to be able to surround him with other good players? I say let him go. It didn't do much good to have him this year. He was in hiding for several months offensively when the club needed him. Now that he is padding his stats to make it appear he had a good season is not missed on most.

    What's not to like about Durhan? He was awesome. Haven't seen enough of swr to make any judgements yet. At this point the projected starting pitchers for 2023 are big question marks. After Ryan and Gray, Mahle should be there but his arm I juries is a concern. Maeda will becoming in not having pitched in many months. Not sure what to expect there. Paddack won't be back until maybe August or September after his second tommy John. Over and Wonder have had many injuries. All these prospects haven't proven much of anything yet. If the Twins don't get a better starting and bullpen pitching, they will go nowhere again. I'm hoping this off season they don't go dumpster diving for pitching again. But I'm sure they will.

    Another typical Twins game. Poor execution, poor pitching, poor managing. Injuries not withstanding this team plays poor fundamentals and boring baseball the past two seasons. With the current leadership told by upper management that they are doing a great job, I expect another dismal season in 2023.

    Aareaz is a little understandable given his hamstring. Pinch running Hamilton was fine but what was the purpose. He's only on the team because he can run. So Rocco has Hamilton pinch running. But he never leaves first base. What a waste. Plus he has a total of 3 stolen bases in 16 games. He can't hit and can't field. If you are not going to use him for the one ability he has then why bother to have him on the team? Typical Rocco type of situation. That whole scenario begged for him to steal second to get into scoring position. Another in the midst of dozens of missed opportunities this year.

    A lot of dead weight is right. Many of those players IMO would not be on a 40 man roster in most other organizations. If this FO cannot look through that list and figure out which ones to get rid of they shouldn't be here. Many obvious choices of who should go.

    I agree with the above 2 comments. Baldelli doesn't know how to manage. If they took away his computer he'd be totally lost. Pitching changes are a joke. There's no in game management at all because it might disrupt his game plan. The team lacks fundamentals, plays with very little passion or sense of urgency. There hasn't been much fire in this team for nearly two years now. The team is rudderless with no direction. Although they can't be blamed for the 18 straight playoff losses it is incorrect to imply they had nothing to do with it. They have accounted for the past 6 of those I believe. In short, Baldelli is a hand picked puppet of the FO. Expect more of the same while they are joined at the hips.

    Not much to say about the game. Just another game of poor defense, poor hitting, below par pitching, terrible managing, and listless play. That has been the theme the past two seasons. Naturally the rotten season gives Twins the injury excuse and bad luck. Last year we heard that 2021 was a flukey bad year and it would get better this year. IMO 2023 will only bring more of the same. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

    The writer of the article must be Baldellis PR person. Or his agent. My God he's one of the poorest managers in the majors. Come to think of it maybe he needs a PR person.

    Gotta love Ryan. Nice job. Can't wait to see next year if he can pitch effectively against the good teams. Big discrepancy this year in his stats against the top teams and the also rans. But you just gotta love him. Hopefully will be our foundation on the pitching staff for several years.

    Yes by all means sign him. He's a good third baseman and hits decent. Why create a problem at 3 rd base that we already have solved? We have way too many other areas of real concern on the team.

    When Correa was signed I was just as excited as anyone. I thought this signalled the Twins were all in. But when they didn't add much around him it instead signalled only another wish and hope season. Carlos since day one has been concerned only about himself. It's obvious he was always going to opt out after year one. After watching this debacle of a team and organization it becomes understandable. His September salary drive is almost comical. Where was he the previous 3 months? Under different, more promising circumstances I would have been elated for him to stay here long term. He is not a long term fit for the twins. The twins are not a long term fit for him. I say let him go! We can't be much worse without him. I mean come on he was only here one year. The Twins as an organization will be better off without him.

    Yes there are plenty of positives in an otherwise nightmarish season of very poor baseball. I only hope the team doesn't blame everything on injuries and makes no improvements.

    Excellent well written and thought out article. I like the order you put them in. Yes injuries were a big part and the FO is already declaring that is why we fell out of contention. A losers philosophy blaming the whole season on injuries. I think Baldelli should shoulder much of the blame. He sets the day to day tone. This team was ill prepared day in and day out to play. They play with no fire or passion. The FO created the pitching mess then tried to patch it up with guys with injury history.
