There's plenty of dead weight on the roster so getting AK up here shouldn't be an issue. My question is where does everyone see that he is already an accomplished major league hitter? He only has 351 major league at bats with a career BA of .251. I hope he gets here and puts up crazy numbers. God knows the Twins need it. He's done well at Trie AAA in the past only to come up here and sputter along. It seems there's more hype than substance to AK so far IMO

Where has it been shown or seen that Kiriloffs is much of any better than Larnach? Inthe limited time he has been with the Twins he hasn't shown much at the major league level. AK several times has shown great AAA numbers only to prove he can't be a consistent major league hitter. Wallner? You really think he's ready or the answer? If some of those players are returned to the major league roster soon why are people worried about who may lose their roster spot? If the FO can't find anyone on this roster to send to minors or release they have got to go. This 26 man roster has plenty of candidates for release/ demotion.

I'm really disappointed in Twins performance the past two days against the White Sox. But I am not surprised. This team has more holes in it than a pack of Swiss cheese. How's that for originality? Lose against a lousy team playing lousy baseball. This team so directly reflects it's boring, undisciplined, unimaginative manager Rocco that appears to spend more time making excuses for the poor play of his inept team than he does trying to play winning baseball.

Who cares who "won" the trade. As of today all I know is both Paddock and Pagan are not producing much of anything. We like getting pitchers with arm troubles. Mahli out for at least a month after 3 stints on twins IL after we got him in a trade. Maeda traded to us with a history of arm problems. Just saying....

Twins will go as far as Rocco won’t let them
Whitey333 replied to tlkriens's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
These last two plus years have been amongst the most boring Twins teams in recent memory. Most of this is Roccos fault due to strange lineups, strange bullpen decisions, undisciplined baseball, still running the team like the 2019 Bomba squad. This team is decent, but not great. IMO this team will only go as far as Rocco let's it. Tuesdays loss is not the end of the world. But his use of bullpen is questionable as always. Your top relievers not available with an off day Monday? Pagan never used? If he can't be trusted he shouldn't be on the team. Same with Moran. Rocco though is,has been, and will continue to be the biggest detriment to the team. -
Has anyone seen Carlos Correa? It's great the Twins are doing well especially while getting almost zero help from Correa. It's amazing what little you get for 33 million per year!

It was a typical Twins game Saturday as it has been the past 2+ years. Sloppy, uninspiring play. We have a manager that costs us several games per year. A handful of managerial mistakes or at least questionable decisions made by him. On Polanco not hustling; this is a frequent problem with the Twins that doesn't seem to be addressed. Polanco should have been benched. To the person that says he believes players like Rocco's approach to the way he handles things why not? They obviously aren't held accountable. This team continually plays boring and undisciplined ball under Rocco yet he isn't held accountable either. I hope he doesn't put out a jv lineup today like he usually does on Sunday. Due to yesterday's sloppy loss Sunday becomes a must win. A loss would drop the homestand to 5-5 after taking 2 of 3 from the Yankees but not playing well against two teams in last place. Even a 6-4 record is helpful but underwhelming considering the opposition.

I'm curious about Kirilloff. He's done very well at triple a a few times only to come up to the Twins and see only mediocre results for 2+ seasons. Is he worth all the hype and consternation about calling him up? I sure hope so. This team should call up players if they are better than what they have now. Maybe Kiriloffs great, or maybe he is just a great triple a player that doesn't quite make it. I'd sure love to find out.

Twins 7, Royals 1: Big Arms Bring Back Bombas
Whitey333 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Too bad for both Mahle and Maeda. Both may be going to the IL. But let's face it, neither one should be a surprise at all. Mahle was on the IL more than on the active roster. He has a history of arm and shoulder weakness. Maeda, coming off Tommy John was questionable at best and should have started the season in the BP. Ober and Varland are likely better than Mahle and Maeda anyway. Time will tell. If we lose any of Lopez, Gray, and Bryan we are in a world of hurt. Cudos to the FO for getting pitching depth. We need to sweep the Royals. They are awful. Go Twins!- 32 replies

What Can Twins Expect From Alex Kirilloff?
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I hope AK comes up soon and adds some spark to an offense that needs it. What we get who knows? He hasn't played enough major league the last two years to determine if he is as good as all the hype. I sure hope is .- 46 replies

Twins-Royals Preview: Let's Get Some Wins
Whitey333 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm expecting a sweep. I know that's expecting a lot but if we are a contending team maybe we should finally play like one consistently. Anything less than winning 3 of 4 should be considered a failure. The two s have only played slightly under 500 ball over the last 20+ games. Go try to win every game. No more throw away games like the last Yankee game. Go Twins.- 34 replies

Yes you can blame Rocco. His lineup without Buxton and Polanco and the batting order was a clear indication he wasn't interested in a sweep. He has many of these throw away games each year. Leaving Maeda in that long was another indication that he didn't care about Maeda, the team or the fans. Rocco has been and will continue to be the reason the Twins go nowhere. He is probably the most unpopular twins manager in team history. His effort to try to not only win the game but to just be content with winning the series and not going for the sweep is inexcusable. Rocco is inexcusable.

Glad for Stewart. Another typical Twins bullpen signing. Sign whomever no one else wants and see if it sticks here. I hope it does but not very likely. It's amazing to me that as much as the Twins depend on their bullpen they seem so reluctant to sign any PROVEN bullpen arms during the off season then need to scramble some to find better pieces than the previous reclamation project. It seems Baldelli already has two to three arms he's reluctant to use. Looks like they added another one.

Tough Decisions Are On Deck for the Twins
Whitey333 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Gordon is definitely struggling at the plate. However using that logic to get rid of Gordon fails to take into account the many others in the lineup struggling. We wouldn't have much of a lineup if we got rid of all the struggling players. I've got to think that Gordon will be gone. Also relying on players like Martin, Lewis, Julien, and even Kirilloff haven't proved much if anything at the big league level. It will be interesting to see what the Twins do. -
If the Twins are trying to contend for a championship they shouldn't be using players like Moran to learn on the job at the big league level. He looks lost. If he can't pitch in even low level pressure situations he isn't needed here. Where is Carlos Correa? 33 million doesn't buy much anymore does it? Anyway Twins let's sweep the Yankees. They deserve it and we need it.

If the Twins are as great as many people say, I guess me included, barring too many injuries they should not only win the weak central, they should run away with it. If it is true that the Twins have a record payroll of 154 million this year, the manager and FO better produce or they should all be gone at end of season. Go Twins

Reviewing the Josh Donaldson Trade
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Actually the jury is still out on Correa. He's making much more than Donaldson was and not performing much better overall. He obviously has more upside but for what was spent he isn't performing like someone making 33 mil per year. A huge disappointment so far this year. But he sure is given all the excuses in the world.- 44 replies

Wow. Nice win. Seems everyone here thinks this team is on a roll.. After one game against a poor team. No one mentioned the stupid base running .mistake getting doubled off first on a ball hit to the warning track in center field. Not earlier I the game with Correa on first and two outs. He did t hustle and should have made it to third. The outfielder do e for the ball and missed it. With two outs Correa should have been running. He should have been at third. That is much more typical of Twins play.. Bailey Over did great. Great game by Polanco. U fortunately we lost two of three to the Nationals. Since starting the season 4-0 the Twins are 8-10 since then.

The lackadaisical play Smith made on the good attempt to catch that liner is typical of Twins play under Baldelli. They dont hustle and seem to have no sense of urgency. Allowing that runner to go from second to third because he didn't hustle after the ball is inexcusable and a direct reflection on Rocco. Boring uninspired baseball is what we are being fed.

Twins as a team are hitting .228. not acceptable. Trying to win today just to avoid a sweep against a very poor nationals team is embarrassing. Blaming it on the weather is ludicrous. Yes it was cold. But didn't appear to hamper the lowly nationals. Have now lost 6 of 7. This team continues to play very boring and undisciplined baseball as it has the past two seasons.

Pretty typical Twins performance. Tired of the excuses like it's too cold. It seems it was just as cold for Washington but they found a way to win. Too many excuses for too many bad performances over the past 2 1/2 years. My contention is the are a very boring and bland baseball team and have been for a couple of years. They are last in baseball in steals with a grand total of one. They are not far from the bottom in home runs and lead the league in strikeouts. .I love the Twins but they need to have a new promotion. Make it no doze night. All fans receive a box of Nodoz to try and stay awake.

To the Pagan apologists:. He hasn't been a good reliable bullpen arm going on three years. He wasn't that good when they signed him. I wasn't at all surprised by his poor outing. He has a big history with that. More will come so be prepared. I was a little miffed as to why Rocco left him out there so long when he obviously didn't have it. Oh that's right he has great " stuff". And if Pagan is so good why didn't he pick up Juliana miscue and bail him out of the inning? That's because he isn't good enough to do it. And a curiosity question: why did we put in a position player to pitch with two outs in the 8th in a losing ballgame? Surely not saving the bullpen by pitching to one batter.

How will swapping in Kiriloffs bat add to the offense? How do we know that? The past two seasons he has played very little and what he has shown is just average or below. I question their depth. Granted it's better than last year but much of their depth is unproven, injured, and over- hyped. Sick of watching Buxton doing his Sano look a like imitation at the plate. He's flailing at the plate, AGAIN and has become an automatic out. Maybe his stats will improve on this homestand facing Nationals and Royals. Their offense was poor last year and we shouldn't be surprised at it's lack of production this year. But somehow they win once in a while although just a little under .500 since starting the season 4-0. Thank goodness for a very poor central division. Still love the Twins. 10 game homestand against Nationals, Yankees, and Royals. The goal must be to go at least 7-3. Yes the Yankees are tough but the Nationals and Royals are cellar dwellers. Go Twins.

Like a poster said, it's way too early to be projecting stats to extravagant unrealistic season totals. To do that one would also have to extrapolate the dismal stats of Correa and Buxton which would lead to disastorous results. It's funny how they are always exempt from criticism here on TD. Anyway it was a great win. Bottom line is their offense, while great yesterday, is still bad. I am expecting a win on Thursday. Hoping Maeda pitches well. Go Twins!!
