  1. Its the managers duty to correct this. Didn't see this back in the days of Gardy or TK, and I didn't see that in Cleveland under Francona either.
  2. An awful lot of dislike for the guy here. It looks like another long shot taken by this FO. One of these days a long shot is due to pay off. Lets hope this one does, as they invested about 7% of their projected salary on him.
  3. If those predications are accurate, I'll be eating crow along with what seems to be most of the readers on this site! I hope I'll need a bunch of salt!
  4. My point of extensions is they need to be done this season if they are to prevent Gray, Mahle, or Maeda from becoming FA next year.
  5. I agree. I think thats what we heard about a Sanchez.
  6. OK, IF he hits 40 HR's and drives in 80 or more runs and can get his avg up. But after last year, hitting in HR happy stadium in NY, avg under 200, I don't feel that's a probability. I would rather see how Mahle and Gray and Maeda fare and extend them if they perform the way they have in the recent past. If Mahle can get healthy he's a solid #2 and so is Gray and we know Maeda could pitch well before TJ surgery. All are less of an IF IMO than Gallo.
  7. I for one don't expect them to be a big FA signing club. They simply can't afford that. Other problems the Twins have like weather, location, coaching, all come into a players consideration when signing a FA contract.
  8. As I see it, 11 mil is a pretty good chunk of the 160 mil talked about as their salary. Yet the article says if he fails no harm no foul. Really, giving up that big of a percentage for failure is no harm?
  9. IMHO this signing just delays the development of the young guys like Larnach, Kiroloff, and Wallner. Spending 11 mil on him seems foolish. I hope I'm wrong and he can self correct because I have very little faith in this coaching staff helping him.
  10. I wonder if they are going to try him at 1st base some?
  11. Can we trade Rocco and Falvine for a player to be named?
  12. Perhaps, but the signing of Gallo?

    Joey Gallo?

I hope the Pohlads see this and decide that 1 more year with this FO to produce a winning team will be the last chance they can fail on. Another losing season and fire the entire management staff from Falvey down to all the coaches. I hope I'm wrong and somehow this team proves it can win, but I don't have much faith in that happening.
  14. I'm not sure this is the front office to depend on rebuilding a team. There are so many times lately where I've wondered what they were thinking in their roster management. Gallo is just the latest question. They seem to think the way to winning is hitting solo HR's. They go after these all or nothing guys, yet on the pitching side, they don't seem concerned about guys that have higher than normal HR against rates. I just don't get it.
  15. I wouldn't call an 11 million dollar contract a prove it deal
  16. Wow another swing and miss for the twins. I thought it must be a joke So disappointed But that's the way this front office views things try to hit the ball over the fence who cares how many times they strike out terrible move
  17. Some good ideas! I like Segura at ss, Laureno would be an interesting add. Brantley would be a great add also!
  18. I think the Twins were wise this time, not wanting to take the chance that Correa could be a 20mil player into his 40's.
  19. I miss the piranhas! Can't help but think this team just hasn't had that kind of hustle or energy since. They don't play fundamentally sound ball. This FO has built a slow, station to to station club that lacks speed (and heart). They hired an inexperienced manager that doesn't seem to have any real spirit. The end product is what we see on the field the last couple of years, and declining attendance.
  20. I could see an extension for Mahle and Maeda depending of course how they look this spring.
  21. A solid no from me. Take on that salary for a guy that can't stay healthy? I would rather keep the prospects and extend the guys we have.
  22. Swanson would be OK at a reasonable price, but I don't see that happening. May be better off with Farmer until Lewis can come back and see how he does. If he can't get the job done well there is still Lee who would have another season in the minors. Not a big fan of the Rodon idea though. IMO would be better extending what we have in Mahle, and see how Maeda and Gray look. Maybe extending them also.
  23. Not sure who's left for RH hitting OF, but I see that as another glaring hole.
  24. I think those numbers will be quite a bit higher, after what we saw this off season, but even so, there should be plenty of $$ left over.
  25. I would rather see the Twins sign a good RH hitting OF than spending big bucks on Rodon.
