  1. IMHO they need to come to a deal with Correa. He was one of the top ss this season and he is still young. 7-8 years 30-35mil ought to do it. We will need a defense 1st catcher that can throw out base stealers. Sanchez would be a possibility if a reasonable contract can be worked out IMO. He may git for a lower avg. but he can throw guys out, and has some power.
  2. Not going to happen. Better off signing Correa IMO.
  3. Time to move on. There will be others available. Lets just sign Judge. LOL.
  4. If the FO wants more fans in the stands they simply need to put a better product on the field. I have been a die hard fan since they moved here, I've seen some bad teams over the years yet there always seems to be a ray of hope for "next year". This team seems a bit different. Maybe because Rocco manages like he's playing stratomatic, instead of real life baseball For next year this team has some pieces that could be the makings of a good team. At the very least they don't need to go after a couple of retread starters with the likes of Gray, Ryan, Maeda, Mahle, Ober, Winder, Varland, and eventually Paddack. Instead they can concentrate on the pen. They need to work something out with Correa IMO. They also need to do a better job evaluating guys with injury history. They are going to need to do something about the catching job. With the new rules I'm concerned that Jeffers will be embarrassed by guys stealing bases. After all our pitchers don't seem to be taught how to hold guys very well. They need a RH hitting outfielder that can hit with some pop. Last but not least, they need to get back to basics. Stress fundamentals the entire time in ST. Not that big of a list, but yet it seems like alot.
  5. On a personal level I like Rocco. That said, he doesn't belong in the dugout managing a MLB team. He seems to lack leadership qualities, He can't/won't think outside the Stat lines, He makes a lot of week excuses instead of holding people accountable, and there seems to be inclination to stress fundamentals. I'm sure much of this is the fault of the FO, but Rocco still has to take responsibilty.
  6. Just sign him. Can't count on AK to ever be the player he was. Rotate Arraez, Miranda, and Urshela between 3B, 1B and DH.
  7. I would give him 7-8 years at 33 mil per. He is worth every penny. This is a very young team that needs some veteran leadership, and he fits that bill. After all it has become clear that Rocco is not a good leader.
  8. As it stands now I envision the outfield to be Gordon, Buxton, and Kepler to begin the year. AK will need to prove the wrist is sound in St.Paul. Larnach will probably make the roster unless he can't shake the rust off. Wallner gets some more development time in St.Paul. I think a rotation of Arraez, Miranda, and Urshela between 1B, 3B and DH With the rule changes next year teams need to be mobile up the middle. Thats why it makes sense to keep Polo at 2nd, and they will really need a good ss like Correa. I see a big hole at catcher. Jeffers will probably be embaressed by teams running at will. I wouldn't mind seeing Sanchez back on a much lower salary. We have a whole stable of starters coming for next year. Gray, Ryan, Ober, Mahle, Paddack, Winder, and Varland. 1 or 2 of those could fit into the pen as long relievers, something we didn't have this year, and it hurt us. In the pen there is Duran, Jax, Lopez, Thielbar, and Moran. add in 1 or 2 of the starters, and guys on the IL this year and you have the makings of a pretty god Staff! Find a good catcher and ss in the FA market and IMHO this good be a really good team next year. I still would love to see them work out a deal for Correa!
  9. Looks like you have them ranked right to me. One other thing that seems to be lacking through the entire org. is the lack of teaching good old fashioned fundamentals!
  10. Players have career years (Kepler 2019) and off years (Polanco this year). The beauty of this game is how unpredictable it is. Would they be out of the race if they had even an average pen? And the Archer signing, well that didn't go so well either. What about all these injuries? Can anything be done (besides not signing injury prone players) or was it a freak year?
  11. Anyone who has played the game is going to have failures. After all baseball is a game of failures. A guy hits .300 and is way above average, yet that means he fails 7 out of 10 times! Players with heart can see that and just want to get better. That usually means working harder. I just don't see that in most of the current roster.
  12. Cave always hustles. I've never seen him loligag at all!
  13. Rocco will be back they now say. Lets hope they get some new coaches. I look at Cleveland play and see the effect of a good manager/leader. They hustle to 1st, they take what is given be it a single or a homer, and they just seem to be more engaged and care. If the manager is going to be so laid back (Rocco) then someone else needs to fire the boys up. This team makes so many fundamental mistakes, it sure makes me miss the "pirhanas" play. That I put squarely on Rocco. I don't care how much the game has changed, fundamentals still need to be taught and practiced from rookie ball to the majors, even if they're no konger seen as "sexy".
  14. I think he stays another year. After all the outfield situation seems cloudy with so many injuries. I don't know if AK will ever get past his wrist problem, Buck can't stay healthy, not sure what to make of Larnach after he needed surgery, and Wallner has so little MLB time its hard to kmow what to expect. Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that Gordon would be one of their top outfielders?
  15. Depending on if Paddack can pitch I'd say move him to the pen. He should be able to pitch 2-3 innings and I think his "stuff" will play better there. Otherwise there are Winder (who IMO should be used in the pen), Varland, and possibly SWR. All would probably be better options than Bundy and Archer.
  16. I'm really not suggesting, just thinking. Word gets around fast about coaches and policies. Just kind of thinking. There must be a reason why over the last few years none of the good starters have wanted to come to the twins. Different reports have the offers equal or maybe even better than the ones they sign. The only other reason I can think of is they don't want to play in this weather or the coaching staff. I am however sure that if this trend of limiting innings or times thru lineup will have an effect on attracting good starters.
  17. Great story! I couldn't have put it any better. I have been a die hard fan since the Twins moved here. There seems to be more and more of an I don't care attitude lately. There is always Rocco saying things that aren't really excuses, but nobody seems to get pissed off by losing anymore. I hear different people talking about an even keel approach but I would like to see somebody get pissed enough over some of the stupid stuff I've seen since the great "choke" started.
  18. It seems lately that the boys are in a hurry to get their at bats over with. What happened to having a little patience at the plate? So many early swings and unproductive outs.
  19. Miranda carried the team for most of August and Duran is a rookie also. Otherwise I can agree that other call ups probably weren't ready.
  20. Maybe so, and do we know why Berrios didn't want to stay here? Was it all about money? Just look at the fact for the 1st time ever no Twins starter will have enough innings to qualify for the leaders board, there have been some rumblings from Gray, and the pen as used up so many times.
  21. And yet not a single starting pitcher on this staff will have enough innings to qualify for "the leaders board"
  22. OK that is your opinion and I respect that. So maybe we can agree to disagree.
  23. just going by what a few of the younger players have said, and the way he kind of took Miranda under his wing
  24. IMO the entire coaching staff needs to go. I believe one of the reasons top tier starters don't want to sign here is Rocco and his "plan". These guys have a lot of talent, and pride and ego to match. Why would they want to sign here with a manager that doesn't have enough confidence in them to get through opposing lineups more than twice? I know it is becoming a bit of trend around the league, but top tier starters want to and should be allowed to go longer. Next year they should have a fairly deep stable of starters to draw from, so now the FO won't have to bargain shop again. Instead, they need to concentrate on keeping Correa and signing at least 2, 2-3 inning relievers instead of filling the pen with one-and-done types.
  25. I agree with most of your post. However, I don't agree with your view of Correa. IMHO he played quite well, and the leadership and attitude he brings are superb. With the current coaching staff it seems they are lacking in leadership which is never a good thing.
