  1. I've said before and I say again, the Pohlads need to give the entire management staff, from Falvey down to the coaches, an ultimatum. Win this year or you're done! That doesn't mean they have to go all the way, but around 90 wins.
  2. Good to see the local kid do well, and at his age!
  3. I see neither one of the two were "innings eaters". IMO the Twins need at least 1 or 2 starters that can be counted on for 6-7 innings an outing.
  4. The only way Maeda moves to the pen is if he isn't healthy enough to start, due to the agreement he has with the Twins.
  5. I can't help but notice that 4 of the 5 were KC & Det, with the other being White Sox. Nice performances for sure, but against rather weak teams.
  6. IMO the biggest change was at FO and head coach. Might be time for ownership to take notice what a difference that made
  7. Maeda has an agreement with the Twins to be a starter, so I don't see that changing soon.
  8. I enjoyed the article. I can agree with you on most of what you say. The one thing all those hitters have is ability to pretty much "square" up the ball. Hit it hard somewhere. As far as the pitching goes, If a starter can't make it through 6 and keeping the hitters under 3 ER or so on a fairly consistent basis, they should be in the pen. Unless MLB changes rules again to allow for more relievers, they just can't expect to maintain a reliable pen, especially since most of the relievers are only 1 and done ( at least in the Twins pen).
  9. I think Arraez would get 2B if they lose Polo.
  10. IMO Max could see some more SB this season, if he gets to try that is.
  11. Great article, I agree 100%. I remember how much stress it would put on the pitcher when Ricky Henderson was on 1st, and how many mistakes they would make. I don't think this management staff from Falvey on down, teach basic fundamentals at all.
  12. You are right on the $$ Doc. RP could make this team competitive if it is quality. It would also help a lot to try and get more IP from the starters or if they want to stick with their plan they need at least 2 middle RP capable of going at least 2 innings. Also, I don't know why they dragged their feet on a RH hitting OF.
  13. True the game has changed. But it can be done. Just a bunch of snowflakes that get paid big bucks yet are way to pampered today IMO. With the advances in sports medicine and training it should be able to still be done IMO. At the rate the team uses their starters they better get somebody that can go longer or get the starters to go longer or it will be another year of pen meltdowns.
  14. I sure hope he does get in 1st time. I think he deserves too anyway.
  15. Mike Marshal is one, Carl Willis did it, There are others. They used to say "rubber arms", but it seems in todays world its a forgotten ability. Obviously it couldn't happen every other day through the entire season, which is why they need at least 2 guys that can go 2 innings.
  16. IMO, the Twins focus should be on RH outfielder and relievers that can go 2-3 innings and still go out 2 days later and go again.
  17. The pen at this time is full of 1 and done relievers. Last year proved that either the starters need to go longer or they need a couple of multi inning guys.
  18. I have kind of lost any real confidence in AK. Until he can stay healthy and hit at either AAA or MLB level I just can't see him as a big hope type of prospect. Many minor leaguers look like studs until they reach the majors and flame out.
  19. Looks like a 70 win team. May be what they have to go to eventually though.
  20. IMHO the Twins should stand on what they have for starters at this point. I don't know of any FA left that would make a bid difference. Instead, get some RP that can go multiple innings w/o needing 3 days between appearances, Try to extend our own guys, and focus on some offense. A RH outfielder that can crush lefties AND play defense would be a huge piece to the puzzle.
  21. Mateo is an interesting idea, but the cost is what? I agree with others and would say no to a deal that requires any top prospects.
  22. No to Eovaldi. Too much injury risk for giving up QO. I could see Pollack as platoon instead of Garlick. IMO the smartest $$ at this point would be RP.
  23. I agree that we need more bullpen help. Adames would look good in the Twins uniform also. Odds of that happening anyone?
  24. I'll add in learn to be a good bunter.
